Best

Kids are welcome here, even room for them at the bar. The atmosphere is casual and noise level good. Food is normal diner entrees like...

Worst

This place is okay as far as pubs go and they have an extensive menu. Burgers are slightly above decent and the fries are good. Oh, and salads are not their forte. Unfortunately I...

Worst service in Seattle. And yet... 10/13/2005

Hands down, this place would win the worst service in Seattle award if one existed. The plus side is that the service is consistently awful, so at least you know what you're getting into when you go. We have suffered through five years of horrible service (a 20 minute wait before you can place your drink order is actually not bad for them). We go because they have a good happy hour, great beer selection, comfy booth seating, and are smoke-free. And the food is pretty decent. So every once in a while we suck it up and return to the Blue Star- and just eat something before we go. Pros: Smoke-free, Beer Selection, Good Happy Hour Cons: Service more

Thank You For Saving Me 5/21/2005

The best hangover breakfast in own. Thank you Blue Star! more

Best Bloody Marys in town 5/18/2005

Blue Star has the best egg dishes I've ever had. Generous portions, great scones, and awesome oatmeal waffles. The staff seems a bit over-worked, as some lag under pressure from large sections and a constant crowd. You MUST try the bloody marys. They'll cure whever ails you, guaranteed! more

Only go if you're desperate 5/1/2005

I keep going back thinking I might get a decent meal. Nope. If you down enough beer, though, it won't matter. Expect little including lousy service and you won't be disappointed. On the plus side, there's a liquor store next door. more

Lazy is right! 6/21/2004

This is the absolute worst service in Seattle. Expect your meal to start with a long wait outside or in their cramped entry way. Once seated, expect a 10 minute wait for coffee and water. Then expect to never see your waitress again unless you wave her down. When your meal comes, expect your sides to be 'up in a minute', which translates to 'next time you have to wave the server down'. Finally, expect some attitude if you make any request for better service. I will never eat here again and would most certainly not recommend it. more

misserable mothers day 5/9/2004

food was ok not fantastic. They were out of the special. Not kid friendly, no crayons or paper to entertain kids. coffee refills hard to come by. wait staff less than enthusiastic. more

Missing...customer service 2/18/2004

The Blue Star does have good breakfast, I will give them that, but the service I have received was absolutely appalling. Of course you have to wait to be seated during prime breakfast hours, though it is not as long as other joints, but the service I received was horrible. It felt like my party and I were being totally ignored...we waited 45 minutes to have our order taken. The 3 or 4 other times have not been super by any mean, either. Every time I have gone I have felt like the server had better things to be doing. The food isn't worth the service, especially when there are tons of other great places near by. So, if you value customer service you may want to pass by the Blue Star. Pros: Good Breakfast more

LOVE their breakfast! 1/6/2003

I love their waffles, their omelettes, their scrambled dishes... everything! Their Chillequiles (sp?) are YUM-E! And the jam they put on the table makes you want to stuff it in your purse and take it home. I've eaten there so much, I'm afraid I'll get sick of it. I have to pace myself! Pros: Excellent food Cons: A bit noisy, U pay xtra to split more

Good breakfast food 12/3/2002

Good serviceable breakfast food at a decent price. Large portions. Family friendly. Nothing spectacular, but a good solid place to come for a weekend breakfast. more

Great food, good service, reasonable prices. I occasionally try a new breakfast place but always end up back here. Cons: No parking more

Happy Hour - extended 7/19/2002

I usually take advantage of Happy Hour and get going, but this sports-friendly, servers with no attitude bar made me wat to stay! A laid back atmosphere and a great value 4-7pm, when apps are half price and drinks are cheap. I love a bargain, and i love good service. a seldom found, pleasantly surprising combination! more

Are the owners awake? 6/29/2002

Anyplace that hangs certificates on the wall lauding the training their servers received makes me wonder. Real waitstaff pros know how to care. Service here is sluggish at the very best. What is sad is they seem to try and have no idea. Are the owners awake? The food is marginal (I think the cooks have the same sense of urgency the staff has) and the atmosphere could blind you with the screaming bright lights and checkerboard floor. Ugh. I'll drive the extra 5 minutes to the alehouse on Nickerson Street thank you. Pros: the beer is good, No smoking Cons: sluggish service, blinding lights more
