I cannot believe the negative comment posted by vannyford despite the age of the comment. My mother-in-law has lived at Blue Ridge Terrace for several years now and loves it. Our family has been so blessed to have had such a wonderful, loving, clean and well run place for her to live in her aging years. She is extremely happy and we feel she is very safe here. The cleanliness is exemplary in a facility such as this. The grounds are beautiful and always painted and in great repair. As for their comment on the ""hall bathrooms"", there are none, so I wonder where they are getting their information and I wonder if they have ever truly visited the facility or even knows anything about it. Activities are non-stop and the residents have access to many wonderful things to occupy their time and keep them healthy. Judy Lail is the most well-loved and qualified person the Board of Directors could have chosen to manage Blue Ridge. She is genuinely caring and goes out of her way to make sure the residents are taken care of, even in ways she is not required to do. My mother-in-law is not restricted in any way as to visitors or her personal privilieges. There are rules that are required as there are at any living facility and our family is very thankful for them. We just want to say that when my father-in-law died, without this facility and its wonderful and caring management and staff, we could not have made it. My name is Gerald Gumbert and I have lived at Blue Ridge Terrace Apartments for 5 years. The negative review written is FALSE. Judy Lail is a top notch manager the staff is top notch and the windows and halls are NOT Dirty. I have NEVER used one of the public restrooms when toilet paper was not present. The entire facility is scheduled for a major upgrade in beginning in early November. This is the only place I have ever lived in the whole of my 63 years that I felt safe and happy. If as vannyford states it is so bad why is there a waiting list. guests are free to come and go and the only ""control by management"" is written into the lease and agreed to by the tenants BEFORE they move in. What controls are there are to insure the health, safety, and comfort of the residents. I personally Highly recommend Blue Ridge Terrace Apartments and Judy Lail and her staff. by the wording of vannyfords post it appears he/she does not live here. One who lives here would state the residents that live HERE not the residents who live THERE., unless of course they KNEW there remarks were FALSE. This is to me the best place in the world to live. It is so obvious that the above was written by someone with a personal agenda to smear my good name as well as the good name of Blue Ridge Terrace Apartments. Blue Ridge Terrace has been providing affordable housing for the seniors of McDowell County for over 27 years. It was originally built by the Marion Lions Club and is over seen by a Board of Directors elected by the Lions. Although Blue Ridge was designed for independent living, the staff of Blue Ridge goes out of their way to find out the needs of the residents and to accommodate them. I, Judy Lail, have been the site manager for the previous 2 years. I have been working in senior housing for a total of 12 years. I enjoy my position at Blue Ridge and I care very much for my residents. \r \r It is a shame that someone with a personal grudge will take it upon themselves to attempt to run down all the good that occurs at Blue Ridge Terrace. When signing a lease for an apartment there its just like signing into a prison. You have no control over your own apartment there. The manager Judy Lail has taken that right away from all the senior citizens who live there. They have no say who comes into their own apartment. Judy also doesn't have the best interest of the residents in mind. I know several residents that are unhappy there. Halls and windows in halls are dirty. No toilet paper in hall bathrooms. Its been reported to owners and they say they don't want to hear gossip. I also reported them to Adult Services and they said they had other complaints too. Pros: rent subsidized Cons: Manager has power, power, power she wants all control no matter who she hurts more
