Love the cafe, personable owner and great food 7/8/2008

I have been going to this cafe, since it opened. The owner was very personable, food was great. The service fluctuated as new people came and went (usually young people). Anyways I would write to tell everyone to try it out, but I am to late. Yesterday my husband and I stopped by there to grab lunch....and there was a sign saying closed for business. I didn't see this coming and to be honest we are still in shock. Does anyone know why they shut down. Bill???? We keep thinking it is a dream. We can't figure it out, the place was always busy in the AM and lunch. We would love to move if it just moving to another location or something. But all we got is ""closed for business, we will miss ya'll"" Pros: great atmosphere, many locals, parking, great food Cons: young staff, slow service from kitchen more

Nice little place, good coffee, tasty sandwitch 4/9/2008

I went there many times after I finish 9 hole from knight's play, sandwitch was excellent, coffee was about the same as starbucks, just as good, drive-in is good addition if I have kid in my back seat.\r service there was pretty good actually, seems like good people working there. BTW I get wifi there with my laptop, i like blogging there. check it out if you live near by, won't regret it. Pros: good sandwitch, good coffee Cons: not much more

Great coffee, food, and atmosphere! 4/8/2008

I finally got a chance to get back to Blue Rain after being out of the area for a few months. I missed going there and couldn't wait to go back. \r \r I love the changes they've made - in the decor and menu. I tried the breakfast wrap - the one with eggs and bacon. It was huge. I did't think there was anyway I could eat it all - but I did, it was so good! I have to agree with peggyLeigh's previous post - the chicken salad is really, really good. So many choices.\r \r Another good change I noticed was the service. While I've never had a big problem with it in ithe past, this time was much faster. The staff has always been cheerful and helpful, but I was glad it was qicker - I couldn't wait to have some fresh coffee and breakfast!\r \r If you get a chance, I highly recommend you try their coffee and food, you'll be hooked!\r \r Pros: Great coffees, Different food choices, made from scratch more

OK, maybe chicken salad isn't something you normally fall in love with, but I grew up on chicken salad and this is the closest thing to mom's I have ever had. Great job Blue Rain!\r Pros: great food, nice staff, Larry's Beans coffee more

great place to eat or hang out 3/29/2008

I have been in the area for just over a year and Blue Rain has become my favorite place. I love their Asian Chicken Salad and my husband is a big fan of their quesadillas, and we both love their Oreo cheesecake!\r \r While I often frequent Blue Rain during lunch with co-workers, my husband and I have made it a weekend brunch habit. I like to get his belly full before I put him to work at home! :)\r \r This is a ""must try"" for anyone in the area. Pros: service asian chicken salad and cheesecake more

HORRIBLE SERVICE, GREAT FOOD 2/1/2008

I have gone to this place several times in hopes that the service will get better, I work and go there for lunch sometimes, I can't count the times that my order has been messed up. I have been late back to work more than once. ordering a simple sandwhich with chips for over 9.00 is a bit much, plus it takes 20 to 25 minutes to get your order. I hope that they get new staff and try to speed up the process. It's fine if you dont' work and you want to spend over an hour to get something simple to eat. Pros: great food Cons: poor service more

Pleeeeeeease come to Holly Springs! 10/23/2007

OK, I am now throwing an online tantrum! (Yes, Bill, you may recognize who this is!) \r \r I absolutely adore this cafe, and because we have nothing like it I now have to make the trip from Holly Springs to Apex several times a week. I have begged the owner (Bill) to open one up in Holly Springs (it's just down the road Bill!). \r \r So if there are any Holly Spring people reading this, try out Blue Rain (on Ten-Ten Road near Knights Play Golf) and then pester Bill about coming to HS!

Hi everyone. \r \r I love this place. The atmosphere is great, with lots \r of colors, music, and artwork. \r \r I first went there several weeks ago with a friend and found the\r staff to be friendly and conversational.I am not a ""coffee"" person but\r went with a friend on a Saturday morning and was surprised \r at how good their breakfast is. \r \r I now go back for lunch. Hint: try their Asian Salad. I will never run out of great things \r to say about this place. Definetly try it out!\r Pros: food service ambience more

Slow and understaffed 10/11/2007

Do not go there in the morning. They are woefully understaffed. Three people, including myself walked out after standing at the counter at 8:30am waiting to get served. The girl working the drive thru completely ignored us and would not help us and she help 4 drive thru cars as we stood there. Another woman decided moving pastries around was more important than helping customers trying to grab a cup on their way to work. They lost a customer today. Another woman said, they are always like this in the morning. more

great atmosphere, great coffee and food 5/6/2007

Hi everyone, this place is a gem. I had heard good things about this place from several friends, but never gave it much thought. I finally stopped in as I was driving by one afternoon. It is a small, comfortable place, nice ambiance, nice people. I frequent a coffeehouse close to my home, and have always been satisfied with their mochas. Not anymore. At Blue Rain I had a mocha that was so good that I now travel past my old coffeehouse just to get theirs. If you like exploring small, local eateries, stop by and grab a bite. Pros: great mochas! great little place. more

Best coffee/atmosphere in Apex 12/30/2006

The atmosphere is great, with lots of colors, music, and artwork. The bar is a great place to eat because the staff is always friendly and conversational- They'll remember you everytime you come in. The coffee is all fair-trade and delicious, and don't be limited by the menu- they will make it anyway you like. The desserts are all house made and EXTREMELY GOOD!!! I will never run out of great things to say about this place- definetly try it out! Pros: Dessert, Coffee, The amazing staff and service Cons: ??? more

Expensive for what you get 11/1/2006

Maybe I'm being nit picky, but I thought $7.75 for a small salad and a cup of soup was expensive. Both were good, but Panera's does more food for a lot less money. We asked for bread with the lunch, and were brought 4 small pices of bread drenched in butter (asked for it dry). The total bill, without drinks for 2 meager lunches was $19.50. We had to ask for silverware twice because the first set was dirty. We also had a nice view of the kitchen, fire estuinghishers, and the sink where employees wash their hands which is unappealing. I don't think we'll go back. Pros: Cute, probably good for coffee, free wirelss Cons: ambience, small portions, expensive more

Awesome desserts 4/11/2006

We were visiting in the area... we use to live in Cary. We were totally surprised at such an inviting little cafe. We were blown away by the variety of desserts... we could hardly pick but decided on the carrot cake and me a piece of the delicious Italian Creme Cake... one of the best I have ever had. My husband really liked the carrot cake... the pineapple and coconut... really tasty. A wonderful dessert chef!!! Pros: nice and airy, parking was fine, desserts awesome more

Went at the invitation of a friend on ""Live Music Night"".&was thinking it would be a pick up place & was of going.This place was so comfortable, easy going & fun, it was like being at a friend's house.The music was great -we came for coffee & dessert.The coffee was really good- good quality & friendly staff. Oh my gosh,the desserts,I was glad I had come because I LOVE DESSERTS & I could hardly decide on what to get. We asked & were told they are all made there &made fresh. I got the Carrot Cake,in a word- YUM - it was the best I have ever had. I want some right now. Friend got Oreo Cheesecake-it was awesome,we could not get enough of it. I recommend this place to anyone wanting a relaxing place that has the hang-out atmosphere & of course... I highly recommend the desserts to everyone! the barista's ""rock"" 2/26/2006

I was going to the other local coffee places for my morning ""jolt"". but a friend recommended Blue Rain.And Have been going back on a weekly basis. The guys in the a:m 'rock"" the coffee drinks are heavenly.I recommend the Snickers with whip topping!, and the morning barista's are on the ball,always running around fullfilling about 7 orders at a time,and always laughing,and joking around with the customers. Defintly gets me outta my ""grumpy a:m mood"",and recommend this little cafe to everyone Pros: am baristas, perfect coffee drinks, beautiful restrooms more

Great food, terrible service 2/10/2006

They have a unique menu with great food. The problem is that most people will never go back because of the complete disorganzation of the staff. When you enter the store, there is one person taking orders at the front. If the people in front of you want coffee, you will have a long wait. There were 3 people in front of me ordering, and about 5 behind. The other staff was totally oblivious to this problem. My wife sat at the counter while I stood in line to order. After waiting 5 minutes, I was finally able to give my order. After about 10 minutes sitting at the counter reading the paper, the other waitress finally realized we were there and asked to help us. Overall, we spent about 1 hour in the Blue Rain, with 30-40 minutes waiting to order and get our food. Pros: Good Food, Good Coffee, Unique menu Cons: Poor service, long wait time, disorganized staff more

Very tasty food and a good place to pick up a coffee and dessert. Service is slow but very courteous. Great Cafe 12/13/2005

The first time I went in I knew it was just what Apex needed. A low key but cool place for tastey coffee, great sandwiches and unbelievable desserts (especially the carot cake, I even got them make me one for my wife's birthday.) The owner, Bill, is a very nice guy who always has a kind word for you. Do yourself a favor and check them out. Pros: desserts, fair trade coffees, prices more

Blue Rain Cafe is wonderful! 8/17/2005

It only took one visit to the Blue Rain Cafe to become a regular. The coffee is wonderful and the food is absolutely delicious! Everyone is so friendly and the atmosphere is so cozy. I love all the art exhibits they have as well. I recommend this place to all my friends and co-workers. And I highly recommend it to you! Pros: Great Coffee, Great Food, Great Service Cons: none, none, none more
