This is the only sushi place I'll go these days. The place is always clean and the food is always fresh. They have a discount now for 50% off house rolls, so it's even the more reason to go. Pros: fresh fish, good service, nice ambiance more

At Blue Nami in Orangevale, you are always guaranteed a great meal. Their fish is fresh, there is no ""off"" smell to the restaurant, and the decor is nice (but I don't like the large TV that offsets the ambience). The waitress (usually just one) is polite and the visible chef at the bar always greets customers with friendly greeting (I don't know Japanese, but I assume it means hello), you never have to stand around for longer than 30 seconds before you are seated and the waitress is prompt to take your order. Sometimes the wait can be questionably long when there are few people seated, but when the food arrives all is forgiven. The Bento box is a great deal and the teriyaki chicken is the best I've had in Sacramento. The nigiri always tastes fresh, like the ocean, and never smells or tastes fishy. The rolls are inventive and very reasonable (half off at times), I usually stick with the nigiri, personally. Go to Blue Nami for the good service, great food, and for a fun experience! We have been going to Blue Nami for 4 years now. We LOVE this place. I would say that their sushi is just as good as Mikuni's and much less expensive. The people are really nice there and the service is quick. They also have some great rolls. My favorites are the Jack #2, Yumi Yumi, Flying Tiger, Maui Wowi, and Boyfriend. The also have a good selection of other japanese food as well. Their Chicken Katsu is REALLY GOOD! I would HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone looking for a quaint, hole-in-the-wall sushi restaurant that has great food and friendly service. We live in Midtown and have eaten at many of the downtown/midtown restaurants, including the more popular ones, but when we can make some time, we always head out to Orangevale to Blue Nami, because the Sushi is simply a bit better than any we can find here. While the strip mall location leaves something to be desired when you drive up, the place is actually quite nice inside. The sashimi has always been fresh and tasty for us, and the rolls are very good as well. The best Sushi place I have been to in my 5 or so years in the Sacramento area. Blue Nami may have a smaller sushi menu than other places in town, with several rolls that truly are different than other places. One difference we notice is they use more herbs like basil & cilantro. Some of the sauces that are served with the rolls are different and have a better taste as well. more

Excellent quality, and great service. Both of their locations are clean with a great atmosphere for the whole family. Rolls to try the Blue Nami, and Oh Yes. One on my favorites is the Chirasi over sushi rice. Their prices are not really bad for the quality you receive, far far better than Mikuni's quality and service any day. more

I would disregard the negative comment about getting sick. If their tab was 75 for two then they ate too much and shouldn't complain. Their food is always fresh. I go there almost exclusively for sushi. Sure they're a bit pricey, but they are unbeatable. Excellent staff. Recommended rolls: Blue Nami Roll, Yummi Yummi, Jack #2, Stardust.. hard to go wrong. House salad is amazing, Miso soup is delicious, Green Tea ice cream is to die for.. Give this place a shot and you will become a regular. I am no stranger to sushi, and I can tell you Blue Nami is absolutely fantastic. Their sushi is always extremely fresh and of excellent quality, and they take rolls to a whole new level. My personal favorite rolls are the Blue Nami and Yumi Yumi, but there are plenty to choose from and they have never been a dissapointment. A friend tried their teriyaki chicken and found it surprisingly good. The only downside is that some of the servers have accents and are a little difficult to understand, but at the same time it's a good thing, because it means they know their sushi ;) Pros: Sushi is exceptional, Decor is well done, Rarely have to wait Cons: Hard to find fault more

I am a huge sushi fan, and am not easily impressed. I have tried countless restraunts, and this is by far my favorite. The food is consistently excellent, the service is great and friendly, and the atmosphere is very impressive. Presentation is mind blowing; you feel bad ruining the wonderful artwork that they do.
