Terrible food and service 2/15/2008

We had a reservation on Valentines Day and arrived a few minutes early. When we arrived, there were several couples ahead of us, but no one at the hostess stand. We waited for 10 minutes before anyone came to the front of the restaurant, although there were quite a few people working there that saw the crowd. No one waiting was greeted or given any sort of attention. We were finally seated, however the service continued to tank from there. Service was extremely slow. When our server came to take our order, there were no ""hello, welcome"", etc., just ""what can I get you"". We had to ask the bus boy for refills on our drinks, since we never saw our server again. Just as we were deciding to leave, the soup came out - maybe 20-25 minutes after we were seated. Then another agonizing wait for the appetizer. Again as we were ready to bail, the sushi finally arrived. The nigiri had a terrible taste, almost plastic like. Two hours later, another server came over and asked how our meal was; we told him it was terrible! He said the sushi wasn't bad, you can tell if it's sticky that it's old. Old wasn't the issue, it was the taste. He said it was mild, well, that wasn't the issue either. He said sorry for the service, they were just busy since it was Valentine's Day. This of all days, they should be trying to impress people and giving great service. We saw quite a few frustrated people in the restaurant. The couple next to us said they'd been there 2 1/2 hrs and they were still waiting for their check as we were leaving. (The only reason we got ours is because my husband went to the front and asked for the check and to pay right then). This place came highly recommended by a friend, but I can honestly say we will not go back again. Pros: The miso soup was good Cons: Service was nearly non existent, nigiri and sushi had poor taste, appetizer (dumplings) were understuffed. Didn't get seated quickly even with reservations. more

Blue Koi Rocks 1/11/2008

We decided to check Blue Koi out last Sunday, based mostly on the fact that we had a $25 gift certificate, but also partially on the reviews we've seen. They lived up to our expectations for food, but service was a little lacking. We had several rolls, and tried some nigiri, as well. All was very good; I'd have to put it up near Sushi Den, actually! Our favorite was the Aurora roll; basically an Alaska roll deep fried. Very tasty! The seaweed salad was tasty, as well, with a nice toasted sesame flavor and a good portion for the price. Pros: Good pricing, great ambience, no crowds, decent location, and GREAT sushi! Cons: Long wait on larger orders (maybe missing a chef that night?) more

Absolutely the best Sushi and Customer Service! 12/26/2007

Blue Koi is one of the best sushi places I've ever eaten at, and I've eaten ate many (I'm from L.A., which seems to be ""Sushi Heaven.""). Not only is the food, including the menu items, terrific, the people here are SO nice and customer-service oriented. Grace, Jessica and everyone else there are the sweetest people. Pros: Great food, great people, fully stocked bar, hibachi-tables Cons: There aren't more places like this! more

Servers are always pleasent, happy to make changes if we ask. I'd rather they didn't surcharge the take-out. more

Most wonderful sushi!! 3/21/2006

My husband and I get delivery service from this place on a weekly basis -- sometimes, we'll order several times a week. If we're out and about doing errands, we always decide to go here for lunch. We absolutely LOVE, not only the food, but the wonderful people who work here. Even in below zero weather, they have delivered food to me -- they take really good care of their customers!! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place!! more
