Best

I think the sushi here is great. I'm not an expert or foodie snob, but I've never had a bad experience here. Last time we were here, we had reservations for 9 pm. We showed up and...

This was my first experience at Bluefin, and I'd been eager to try since it recieved rave reviews from anybody who's been there. I was NOT impressed. I've been to sushi places so ...

THE BEST!! 10/1/2003

Bluefin has the best sushi in the entire Philly area and we've tried them all. Yong always makes the meal memorable. I'm not sure what happened to the previous reviewer, but I've never had Yong say no to me about any special orders whatsoever. He has created rolls for people on the Atkins diet and EVERY time I go (at least once a week) I either create or have Yong create a special roll or dish, based upon ingredients I like. Must tries: tuna sundae, creamy lobster hand roll and anything they make with Toro. The restaurant is small, so waiting can be an issue at times, but other than that, if you like the freshest creative and basic sushi, bring a bottle of wine or sake and enjoy! Pros: freshest sushi around, great sushi chef, great service Cons: little parking, crowded, small more

Great Find! 8/12/2003

I saw Blue Fin while I was researching BYO's in the city. I read the reviews and then saw it was close to where I work. I had the Sake Lunch and did take out. I now have a new place for lunch! I will defintely go back for dinner. Pros: Fresh, Quick, Close to city & work Cons: Traffic on G-town Pke more

Best service/fresh fish 2/12/2003

The service at Bluefin is the best. So friendly and helpful! The little freebies are great too. Try the Spicy Tuna Sundae! more

Shockingly good! 2/1/2003

Even after reading all of the reviews here I was still shocked at how good the experience was at Bluefin. The sushi is possibly the best I've ever tasted, the prices were reasonable (not cheap, but well worth it for the quality), and the staff was very friendly and accomodating. You'd never expect it from the location, but Bluefin is definitely one of the best sushi restaurants around. more

worth the wait - but boy, what a wait! 1/3/2003

I really enjoyed the sushi at Bluefin, and the server was very friendly and capable - but the sushi chef was apparently backed up for some reason, and it took FOREVER (oh, ok, about an hour) for the sushi to come after we ordered it. That was just not that cool, considering we had a 26 month old and a 2 month old with us. On the plus side, there is a conveniently located fish-pond in the restaurant, which the 2 year old enjoyed looking at while we waited. The sushi was so good even the 2 year old had some. And the sushi chef gave us some free cucumber-wrapped crabmeat and deep-fried fish pieces because of the wait. So, at least they acknowledged the problem. We'll go back - WITHOUT the kids. Pros: excellent food, prices ok, easy parking Cons: slow sushi prep more

More than worth it 12/16/2002

Ive eaten at quite a few different sushi restaurants from NYC to Miami and even Honolulu, and Blue Fin has to be one of the best if not the best. Recently I had noticed that every time I went to sushi restaurant, there was nothing on the menu that I hadnt tried, when I went to Blue Fin they had fish I never even heard of let alone eaten. The staff is very friendly, its BYOB, but there is bar next door that has Kiren six packs, and my meals have been very inexpensive especially considering what I order. My advice, sit at the bar and place yourself in the hands of the sushi chef, you wont be disappointed. Pros: Inexpensive, BYOB Cons: Parking, BYOB more

Let's sushi!!!!!! 9/26/2002

I have been a client of Blue Fin since it first opened over 2 years ago. Yung has made me experience many different types of sushi and has made me appreciate it! The staff always makes you feel welcome and will always remember your name making you feel quite at home. I have never spoken to anyone who did not totally enjoy their meal. Sitting at the bar and conversing with the sushi chefs is as entertaining as any other show with a dinner. Pros: Great Sushi, wide menu, knowledgable staff more

A Hidden Jewel 9/18/2002

My wife and I have been to Bluefin on several occasions and have NEVER been disappointed. The sushi is always fresh, interesting (try the kampeche if they have it) and the Crunch Spicy Tuna Roll is to die for! Jong, the owner and master sushi chef, is charismatic, personable (he'll remember you by name on your subsequent visits), and passionate about his food. He always throws in a ""freebie"" or two, which are delicious, and he even makes something as mundane as a cup up orange tantalize your taste buds. If you like sushi, don't miss this place. - Mark & Gretchen Fuss Flourtown, PA more

non better I found, and I look 8/26/2002

Words alone can not describe how good a BlueFin experience is. Always fresh, always well presented with tenderloving care. The menu is outsanding bu t the real treat is the ""extras"" from the kitchen. Great spot for first timers because of the large number on non sushi items available. Try the tuna sundae for the best treat in the house. Pros: fresh, good parking, byob more

Look no further... 8/22/2002

The best sushi in the burbs and Philadelphia! The staff is pleasant and helpful, the atmosphere is casual and comfortable, and most importantly the sushi is terrific. You can't go wrong! If you aren't familiar with sushi or want to try something new, they'll steer you in the right direction. Pros: Not well known (yet), Fresh Sushi, Great Service Cons: parking more

Great for a first-timer 8/13/2002

I brought my husband here as a first-time sushi eater, and he loved it. The staff was very helpful and friendly, and the food was amazing. The bananas tempura for dessert (free of charge) were to die for- they wouldn't give away the recipe though. We were also given complimentary mini-crab rolls, which were very tasty. All in all, a wonderful meal. more

Blue Fin is a tasty roll of heaven 8/9/2002

The sushi at Blue Fin is the best this side of JAPAN. Do not miss the Blue Fin Roll...a California roll with grilled eel on top....simply amazing. Also, don't forget to bring your beer and one extra for the man serving up the goods....Yung. Pros: Super Fresh, Great sushi chefs, BYOB more
