Des Moines IA Zoo 8/8/2005

This is a nice zoo to visit. The price of admission is not very much. They have souvenirs you can get such as the penny crusher machines. There are lots of different animal exhibits to see here. I think it is worth making the trip to see it. I have driven there a couple of times and my girls enjoy this zoo. There are areas you can picnic outside of the zoo and then go back in to walk around more. more

Iowa Zoo 8/8/2005

There is a lot of walking involved on hills and such at this zoo. They do have a pretty good selection of animals (104 different species) to go see. There is a fee to attend this zoo. Kids under three are free. They have educational programs as well. You can call them for more information. more

Blank Park 7/21/2005

Blank Park Zoo is a great local zoo. It is nicely laid out. There is free parking. Our favorite part of the zoo of all things was finding the penny smasher. There are a couple machines that we found you could do this. Cost is $.51, cheap souvenir to get the children. Recommend bringing a wagon to tote your items around or you will get tired. You can purchase the membership on line. more

It is alway fun to go on vacation in your own state! The joy that the Blank family must get from their philanthropy is huge. From the hours you can spend in the rain forest to the hours you can watch the giraffes and monkeys. Plan on a whole day and the snacks and lunches were inexpensive also! more
