Best

I stumbled upon the Black Rose about 5 years ago while in Boston for my first time. After walking around the Quincy Market for several hours, I decided to stop in for a cocktail....

Worst

Ok... I like the Black Rose - good music, pretty good food, reasonably good Guinness. However, they don't have a cabaret license, which means that no matter how good the music is,...

Over billed and beat up 8/11/2009

Check your receipt at The Black Rose. While paying for a dinner/date last winter I noticed the tab was [clearly] over charged. Asking for an itemized bill I pointed-out the inaccuracies to the bartender. Even with printed proof he would not take responsibility and quickly escalated the situation by summoning the door bouncers. Well, I paid the excessive bill (plus tip) and then had their goon bouncer’s attack me into Mass General. Now 9 months of mri’s, x-rays, painkillers, rotator cuff surgery, and physical therapy I am just getting on my feet…Cheers!! more

Good Irish Food 3/18/2006

This place is a genuine Irish hangout in Boston. The Black Rose has a good selection of Irish food like Shepards pie and bangers and mash and the taste is very good. They also play Irish music and have sports paying on TV, Irish sports like soccer. This is a fun place to hang out at or have dinner at. more

Nice little Irish Pub 3/17/2006

Whenever my husband and I make our way into Boston, we stop at the Black Rose for lunch or dinner. We like it for a sitdown meal. The service is always great, the prices are reasonable, and the food is delicious. My husband loves the fact that they have rugby playing - something you don't get at the average American pub. We often chose the Black Rose as a meeting spot with friends and family, and they always have a good time, too. more
