My husband and I and another couple had both bought a \r Groupon . Fortunately, I discovered before we showed up for dinner that the coupon stated that only 1 per table could be used. So, our friends used their coupon last night and we will go back another time to use ours.\r \r After reading the comments below the day before, we were all very skeptical about what our experience was going to be.\r \r I am happy (and even pleasantly surprised) to share with you, that our meal was perfect! First the food:\r \r Our friends ordered two entrees; the 16 oz sirloin steak (and it was more than an inch thick!) and the mussels. Their meals came with a large tossed salad, mixed vegetables and a side of pasta with mixed vegetables. Plus, dessert which was an extra large slice of a four layer chocolate cake - enough for all four of us to eat and still have some left on the plate.\r \r So, keep in mind, ALL of their meal was covered by the coupon.\r \r My husband and I ordered a 16 oz ribeye steak to share. They brought our meals to the table with the steak already cut in half and gave us each a regular portion of mixed vegetables and mashed potatoes. (There was a $5 share fee added to our bill, which the waitress probably should have mentioned to us, but with the added service of having our meal already separated for us, it was worth it.). Our steak was cooked as we had ordered it and was delicious. \r \r As for the atmosphere. Well, you can't get around that. If seeing animals on the wall may be upsetting to you, you don't want to go there. I have a friend that couldn't watch Life of Pi, so we all joked how she could never come here. On the other hand, where we were sitting, we enjoyed the soft lighting and music. Also, we were there at 7pm on a Friday night and the place was only half full....so another bonus is there is NO wait for a table! \r \r Service was very good. Absolutely, no complaints. We are looking forward to going back to use our coupon! more

Horrible! Not only was I charged $4 for two glasses of tap water, they taxed 20% instead of the stated 18% and that was on top of the sales tax. Manager/owner 'Angela' I believe was very rude. more

WARNING - This establishment is ran by a crook. I almost never take the time to write a comment about a restaurant, but my experience this evening justifies the effort. We used a Groupon deal where 4 entres were priced as 2. We had children with us who ordered off of the children's menu. When the bill came, they used those as the ""free"" entres and charged us for the adult meals. The manager would not even come out to talk to us about it. The food was fair at best. The services was pretty good. Overall, you can get a much better steak at places that charge much less. Plus, the animals on the walls are very creepy. We are in Statesville on the way to Virginia for a wedding. We were not dressed well, but looking for a place for some good food and good beer. The Black Angus invited us in and treated us well. David, our waiter was great, attentive and basically went above and beyond for us. The food was awesome, the best french fries this side of France, and the beer selection was great. The decor was amazing. Normally I wouldn't like all the dead animals, but the vast variety of land and sea was over the top. We roamed from room to room after dinner to see EVERYTHING. A totally great experience from the moment we walked in the the time we left...check it out for yourself! more

This is a horrible place. The food is horrible. The service is horrible. I went there with a business friend. The server was so distracted they couldn't even get the food out. We waited and waited for both food and drinks. We got disgusted and just paid and left. The food when it did come was cold, overpriced, and frankly about the same caliber as a Ryans. Plus I read today they are suing some customers that cancelled in August for a party three months in advance. That's just plain crazy. This looks like an attempt to stay in business. Not something a place does if they are going to be around for another week or two. more

We have been to The Black Angus many times, and have loved it every single time. The food is absolutely amazing. It will make you want to keep coming back. I recommend the steaks, they are amazingly delicious. And to other people that have had a bad experience, I don't see how. When we went, they were nothing but nice to us, and gave us everything we needed. So try it today! You won't regret it. more

We have had many dinners at the Black Angus and each time is such a great experience. Anytime we celebrate a special event, we go to this restaurant. The food and service are the absolutely the best in the area. I recommend you try them out for yourself. more

I tried to use a coupon printed in the newspaper. Shrimp and grits was not even on the menu (but was the coupon special.) If it is printed in the paper, shouldn't it be honored? Isn't it illegal to advertise something to get people into your business and then not honor it? The manager just said too bad. What a rip off! more

Our company party this year was at the Black Angus. We had a great time and can't wait to come back and try them for dinner. The banquet room is a perfect place for any type of party. The food was good and their servers are excellent. We had so much fun that we stayed until they closed. more

I had a horrible experience with the manager at this restaurant. It's a very overpriced restaurant with horrible atmosphere. The food was basic, the vegetables overcooked...I could really go on, so I will just say, do yourself a favor and don't waste your time here. They need to modernize the restaurant and fire the manager....who has no people skills whatsoever. It was the most unpleasant night of my life and I will never go there again. more
