Stay away! Price gauging! Rude customer service! Extremely overpriced! 2/20/2011

As the previous owners used Bishop we just continued to use them for Furnace/AC periodic maintenance. (found out after the fact these guys are charging about 50% more for maintenance)\r First time we ran into problems was a couple of days after the big blizzard of 2011.\r We found out that our furnace stops working after a couple of hours and the house was getting cold.\r Called them ? they sent a guy over ? after 15 minutes and $120 told me to replace my filter.\r As expected the furnace stopped working again at 3 AM ? what a fun night.\r Next day Bishop sent out the same guy again telling us we need to replace the ignition engine for $500 !!! (expected work time was less then 30 minutes)\r I did some digging and found the part online for $150 - when called the Bishop office and being very polite on the phone I got an obnoxious person (the owner's sister) on the phone ? she was extremely rude , yelling at me how do I dare to to question her pricing told her technician to leave the more

Great service for jobs both big and small 1/20/2010

We have used Bishop for years for regular cleanings and have always been pleased with the service and the friendly technicians. Last week, we needed a new furnace installed because of a cracked heat exchanger. No high pressure to buy the most expensive model. Installation took place the next day. The three men who did all the work were friendly, willing to explain everything that needed to be done, and worked cleanly - nothing was left when the job was completed. There were challenges with the job but they took them in stride and did a great job. They approached the job as if it was their own home. I would recommend Bishop Heating & Cooling to anyone who asked. more

Courteous but way over priced 12/11/2008

I called Bishop because I had heard of others who used them. It was a weekday evening call and my furnace had stopped working. The repairman was courteous and at my house for 25 minutes. He replaced a gas furnace ignitor, probably the simplest part on the furnace. The call cost $175 - high but it was an evening. The part cost $320, for a total of nearly $500. The part is very common and widely available for under $30. So I was charged more than 10 times what I could buy it for retail. Of course I expected to pay a bit of a premium, but not 10x. I would never recommend Bishop for this reason. more
