Where else can you find a night of great entertainment and satisfying dining with friendly services? I recommend this place 100%, you won't be disappointed. more

OVERPRICED-BAD SERVICE-SMALL PORTIONS 5/2/2008

We had to a pay a $20 cover charge to see a mediocre band. The entire evening was way overpriced. The waitresses were "Drink Nazis" with the 2 drink minimum (10 dollars each) I tried the crab cakes because someone suggested them. They were way smail! For 20 dollars I got 2 tiny crab cakes that were no more than 2 bites each We left early without watching the band finish their set. more

Great music, Terrible service 12/15/2007

The show was amazing and our seats/table was perfect. However, it took about 30 minutes to get a drink and we didn't get our food until the show was over! We had 7 people and they didn't bring out the order for one person. The owner of the restaurant actually asked the patron if he was sure he ordered something and then said "well you'll have to wait then". No apology. We asked for a discount on our order and he said "you don't come here for a discount, you come here for good food". He was so rude and I couldn't believe as the owner he had such little care in his customers. I live in San Francisco and while I enjoyed the show (and food once we got it), I'll never go back. Pros: Great music and food Cons: Rude owner, slow service more

Great Live Jazz in the City 10/28/2006

The shows are twice at night, so plan ahead to make the showtimes. Come before and have a starter drink in the top floor lounge. Great views of Mason. Food is OK and drinks are standard - but decor and atmosphere are the draw here. Pros: Live Music Cons: Food & Drinks more

What a find... Alvon Johnson!! 9/23/2006

Ok, we had heard about this guy back in the day.... and here he was playing at B&B ~ awesome night, the man can seriously play that guitar!!! And what a voice... I would listen to him alllllllll nighttttttt loooooooooooonnnnnnnnng! Plus he has an unsually great on stage sense of humor. We lucked into an up close and personal guitar solo. Hope we get to hear more of him there as that was a perfect, intimate venue. And hey, whomever wrote that last review... our drinks AND food were served right on time. Pros: Intimate venue and a good dance floor Cons: Can't think of one negative more

My Favorite SF Club for BLUES 2/17/2006

This is my favorite place to hear blues in San Francisco--the best touring bands play here. I've been a frequent patron for many years. The club has gone through some changes recently, and has improved service immensely. The staff is friendly and efficient, if sometimes harried during a sold out show. It's more of a listening room than a bar. It's about the music first. On weekends they typically do two separate shows. Reservations are recommended--it does tend to attract a lot of tourists because of its location. And it attracts lots of regulars too--that's the makings of a place that does it right. Pros: Best Blues Bands, Warm, Friendly Sta, Great Crab Cakes Cons: Small dance floor more

DONT GO HERE!!! 7/26/2005

I went here on a low key Tuesday night. First thing that went wrong was our reservation was lost. No need to worry because we got another table. Then the second and biggest problem of our evening arrived, we met our server. She cames to our table after a few minutes and took our drink, appetizer, and dinner order before she left. The only thing she did right was bring us our first round. We sat at that table for an hour, never recieved our appetizer, our dinner, or another drink! We tried to get a drink from the bartender but he refused to serve us because we must order from her. Not knowing what to do, we got up and left. This is by far the worst place that I have ever gone. If you want a drink or food of any sort do not go here. Pros: NONE Cons: EVERYTHING more

yum 8/19/2003

great place, great food, great service, good music. Excellent time to be had by all. Come visit soon. Pros: food, music, service Cons: small more

Groove On 5/1/2003

We have seen two shows in the last week at this intimate club with professional service and great food. Both times packed to the gills with adoring fans. Both times we loved our food. You stay in the same seat for dinner and the show if you have dinner and I recommend it highly. The food is unreal for the prices. Pork chops, a huge steak, fresh salmon with dill sauce, and of course crab cakes, fritters, chicken, etc. Our group has had it all. If you like a grown ups nightclub where you can see stellar music shows in a cool vibe kind of place. this is it. Their wine list isn't bad either. Pros: service, food, vibe more

FULL NIGHT OUT x 2 4/2/2003

My wife, friends, and I visited twice last week. First stop on a Wednesday. We ran into BBQ night with ribs and zinfandels by the glass. Full house all chowin' down on ribs. Music was incredible. I never knew it was so intimate. Funky cool vibe in a mix of a restaurant and music venue. Next night on a Saturday--MAKE RESERVATIONS!! I don't think they could have fit another person to see Johnny Nocturne band. This place rocks with good food and friendly staff plus great live music. Pros: music, food, service Cons: crowded but nice more

A+ Night Out 3/7/2003

This was a pleasing evening. Food very good, music and crowd fun. Some big groups added to the atmosphere. Try the pork chops, trout, and steak. Save room for flaky biscuits. It seems they really care about their guests which we liked. Friendly, not stuffy. Music is very close and intimate. Pros: fun, friendly, music more

2 in 1 a BONUS 2/20/2003

This place is a two in one. We were exicited about the show--(best place to see live blues in the City). But we were astonished at the quality of the food. Steaks, fresh seafood specials, pork chops, great healthy appetizer list and salads. And perhaps the best wine list ever for a club. Everyone gets a full view seat, and dinner guests get to stay in the same seat for the show. Very intimate, we guessed a hundred or so people. If you like music and like a meal to go with it. go to this place--we were very happy. Live Blues Everyone! Pros: EXCELLENT FOOD, REALLY GOOD MUSIC, GREAT SERVICE more

Great Food & Music! 2/20/2003

It took us eight years but we got here last Saturday. And this place rocks hard. Lee Rocker, from the Stray Cats had his new band and they played HERE!!! What a cool vibe---full restaurant and bar. We sat at a table--(MAKE RESERVATIONS), and had an incredible dinner, the food is like a high end restaurant but cheap and stayed in the same seat for the show. No where else in SF can you get a great meal, stay in the same seat, and then get an incredible live show with the great sound and service we had. Pros: GREAT FOOD, GREAT VIBE, GREAT CLUB more

We're a Happy Family 2/20/2003

My sister and I go to Cal Berkeley and needed a place to take my visiting cousins. We had always heard about the Biscuit but never went. Well now we are on their email list and will go more. This is the best club in SF by FAR, FAR. Firstly, the management cares about your comfort! THe only club where someone helps you to your seat, you get a tasty dinner with a great wine list, and the music is up in your face incredible. It's so easy, great food at great prices, and live music in a non-threatening atmosphere. If you like to see music in style and comfort--go here and be happy. We were. Pros: They Care!, Service and Food, Music more

WHAT A FIND! 2/10/2003

Simply amazing! What a cool spot to see bands. In the middle of the theater district (with all that parking), a little gem that caters to mostly locals! The manager said because of the bands they book, it brings out the blues & R & B fans from over the bay area. And we are the newest fans of this place. Great seats for everyone, no standing room or bump and grind crap, and A MENU THAT IS BETTER THAN MOST 2.5 STAR RESTAURANTS IN THE CITY. EAT HERE NOW. Steaks, pork chops, seafood, ton o' salads. This place rocks and has been getting alot of press in the Chronicle and Guardaian lately. EAT HERE AND SEE A SHOW NOW! more

First Time of Many 11/25/2002

First time here was last Saturday. This place is really cool. Friendly staff from top to bottom, no posers! A real music club that cares about their guests is hard to find. I was so suprised they don't allow standing room and a host actually finds everyone a seat--try that in most SF clubs! Packed to the rafters with fun loving blues lovers. Didn't even know they served food, but I would compare the style and quality to Home and some of the smaller neighborhood restaurants. Meatloaf was spicy and nice as was the Fried Chicken. Great prices on food and drink. Good wine list also. But what makes this place is two things--GREAT SERVICE and GREAT MUSIC VENUE. Small and intimate and comfortable. Will go back! Pros: good service, great music, style Cons: slightly loud at time more

BEFORE AND AFTER! 11/17/2002

I found out about this place because they are sponsoring the current ACT production. After convincing my friends to eat in a "blues club" before the theater we were MORE THAN PLEASANTLY SUPRISED! This place was busy before the theater with happy hour people and pre theater diners. The menu is great straight up American. I never would have known but this place stacks up against the other restaurants in this area without a doubt. Great vibe early and then we showed up after the theater and got in an hour of cool blues. An intimate venue, and great restaurant I would recommend to anyone. Pros: great food, cool vibe, great service more

The Power of the Blues 11/6/2002

As a dedicated san francisco club goer I am here to say I have seen the power of the blues and hot southern food. My roomates dragged me here because they swear by it and me--I never had been. This is high octane entertainment in an in your face place. Everyone is close to the stage, and that was incredible sound in a small club. I guess those who follow the blues swear by this place I just like to see good talent in a small club. The food was an extra extra special treat. The pork, steak, catfish all superb and the biscuits live up to their name. And the cheapest drinks in a SF club so far! The blues is in the house. Pros: small place, great service & food, great musical talent more

FINALLY! A WELL RUN CLUB 10/23/2002

Remember the name Ms. Mary Dukes. She was on fire Saturday when we showed up at Biscuits & Blues. Incredible act. I never knew this place was so intimate. And a great place to see live blues. I lived in Chicago and it doesn't get any better than here. Why I will go back is the service and food. Very professional. How many clubs actually take you to your seat, serve you great food and reasonably priced drinks? And they don't allow standing room--so a club for adults!! I'm only 25 but appreciated the good, happy vibe and NO POSERS. Pros: SERVICE, FOOD, MUSIC Cons: A LITTLE LOUD more

Eat, Drink, Dance 10/23/2002

I brought my husband here for his 30th b-day party with 12 friends. The staff was really sweet to accomodate such a large group when they were so busy. A special thanks to Emily who waited on us! As my husband says---This place rocks. And it wasn't bad either to see Andy Garcia and his crew hanging out---an added present for me! Great food for a club or any restaurant for that matter. Low prices and high quality--good combo!!! Better service than most 3 star restaurants in the city. If you like music--this is the place, small and nice vibe. And very, very clean! Pros: sweet staff, cool atmosphere, great music Cons: music ended early more

  • In Short
With clear sound and an intimate setting, Biscuits and Blues is a great spot to see high-quality blues artists (local and touring). In front of the stage, candles are lit atop cocktail tables; booths reside in raised areas along the walls. Formerly the Improv comedy club, servers still wind their way through the tables during the show.
