The show was amazing and our seats/table was perfect. However, it took about 30 minutes to get a drink and we didn't get our food until the show was over! We had 7 people and th...

AWESOME NIGHT OUT 10/13/2002

Stopped in here Saturday. The place was jammin' and we still got great service. They just started a new menu and we were impressed with the quality and prices of the food. Salmon in a blues club- Yes! Some of us had the famous fried chicken but the new crabcake and shrimp cocktail (a vodka sauce!) were good as well. Fun, inviting place. I wish all clubs were run this friendly--made us feel like regulars. Great sound system and lights. The manager told us mostly a local clientele which seemed to be the case. Pros: service, prices, music Cons: crowded more

Happy To Be Here 10/13/2002

It's good to see more and more people discovering my favorite SF club! Best spot to see the blues in California. Just named Blues Club of The Year in the Whole USA again this year. NOT A TOURIST TRAP--A SERIOUS MUSIC VENUE that happens to serve excellent food--(and they just changed the menu so the food is now cool also) Reasonable prices in my book, great service, same owners for seven years. Makes me happy to see great live music, have great food, and be in a place for grown ups for a change. Don't let the location fool you. Great spot where me and my friends and Sf folk go. Pros: food, music, service Cons: getting crowded more

SF Scene of Blues 9/5/2002

Walked into a sold out show here on a Thursday night and the manager sqeezed, shoe-horned us in. Suprised by the quality of food, good prices. Glad we ate here and stayed for the show. Seems like they do quite a few local folks due to the regulars cheering for Carmen Getit and Steve Lucky--two artists that also play the so-called hip joints in the Mission and south of Market. Have the pork chop or steak or catfish, and the buttermilk pie for dessert. I will go back, my girlfriend and I like the friendly SF vibe, no standing room policy and the grown-ups that run the place! Pros: ambiance, service, prices Cons: busy more

One Stop Shop 8/13/2002

Can't believe I'd never been here. Delightfully tasty food, sassy service, and the best, best, best, place to see live music in the City. No standing room allowed! Everyone gets a seat and a table. Cool vibe, the music we saw was Lavay Smith and what a performance. This club has won my business. And speaking from experience, incredible sound system. Pros: inexpensive, comfortable, good sight lines Cons: wine selection more

Great music, very mediocre food :( 5/21/2002

What a disappointment!!! First, the good news: the biscuits were warm, flakey, yummy (though I would have enjoyed a side of honey or jam with them!). Also, the music act for tonight was fun and energetic (Steve and Carmen). However, the breaded catfish tasted like something frozen from Van de Kamps, the coleslaw and potatoes were blah, and the portions were horrible for the price! My friend's drink was also really watered down (and not cheap). I recommend that you come here, order a side of (reasonably priced) biscuits, and don't eat or drink anything else! Pros: music, biscuits, no drink minimum Cons: tiny food portions, uninspired flavors, watery drinks more

Editorial
  • In Short
With clear sound and an intimate setting, Biscuits and Blues is a great spot to see high-quality blues artists (local and touring). In front of the stage, candles are lit atop cocktail tables; booths reside in raised areas along the walls. Formerly the Improv comedy club, servers still wind their way through the tables during the show.
