I don't understand why people will tell you what they think you want to hear and they don't mean a word of what they say. The first week in April I called to inquire about the paper being thrown in my yard instead of put on my mail box which is a good distance from my house and on a busy highway. I was assured that the paper would be delivered to my house and it was not so I called and talked to someone about it and was told a completely different story about the paper being put on my mailbox so I cancelled the subscription on 4/25/13. I was told that I would receive a full refund in 4 to 6 weeks and it has been 9 weeks now and I still don't have my refund check. I called June 14th and was told by a lady that she could not find my name or address on file and she would talk to her supervisor about it and they would call me back. I ask her was she sure and she promised that I would receive a call within 24 to 48 hours and now it has been over 72 hours and no call. So much for promises. I took out the paper in good faith because of what I was told and used my credit card to pay for it so I do have proof that I did subscribe to the Birmingham News and will gladly furnish that proof. It is a shame that an old reliable company such as the Birmingham News has gotten so bad that they can not keep their word nor their promises and even loose names and addresses of customers. more

Birmingham News 1/8/2007

I love getting the Birmingham News. To me, they do a great amount of coverage of the state and local areas. I like reading the paper for the human interest and state-related stories. I enjoy the photos as well. I think the paper has grown for the better over the last 20 years. The stories have gotten better, and each sections seems to have more substance than before then. To me, this is a great companion newspaper to a national one. I love readng a national one along with this one. I do recommend The Birmingham News. more

Birmingham News 4/7/2006

The Birmingham News took over the Birmingham Post a while back. I thought it would be for the worst, but they have proven me wrong. I love reading the Birmingham News now. It's very organized. I think they do a good job of not only covering Birmingham, but covering the surrounding towns as well. It's easy to read, and I especially love their lifestyles' section. It is relatively cheap for a paper. You will need to check their website for that info. more

I have been a long subscriber to the Birmingham News. The Birmingham News, while it has its critics, is a pretty decent paper. I get the paper 7 days-a-week and except for a few cases, the paper is delivered before 6-6:30 AM. Over the last few years, the paper has tweaked some things -- some of it for the better, some with not so great results. One of my favorite sections of the week is the Friday City Scene which they recently changed the layout. The new layout however is harder to read and makes it more cluttered appearing. My husband has liked the new expanded baseball coverage with USA Today-like boxscores. All in all, my day doesn't get started until after I have read the Birmingham News. more
