Bird Shop

The Bird Shop is the only place I would consider when purchasing a bird and supplies. All of their birds have been vet checked and cleared to insure folks are buying a healthy bird. The birds are well cared for and most babies are hand tamed. I know I can trust the knowledge of the staff and the quality of birds, food, and supplies! In addition, their boarding facility is wonderful and grooming services are tops! I agree with Jaylon's review..however, hand sanitizer is available in the store and is kept at the grooming area :-) more

I have been going to the bird shop for over 25 years. I hate to say it but bird people can be like horse people,\r But not at the bird shop. over the years i have bought all my supplies and many birds from them. my rosebreated cockatoo turned 21 this year, never sick a day. trust 100% (oh yeh, bird people and horse people \r can be real snobs. cindy more

Been going here for years! Great staff, fun to play with the bird. do however have a hard time getting wing and nail appts. at times I can do them. more

I actually went to pizza at Mountain Mikes Pizza across the street and my sister pointed out to me the store across the street since I have four parakeets and a cockatiel. I walked in and yes it was loud in there, but they have a lot of different birds, some of them talk to you and they are beautiful. They have an open area where the baby cockatiels are and I enjoyed going over talking to them and picking them up. I found a large colorful ladder that I attached to the skirting (fostersmith.com) of the cage, my cockatiel has been up it several times, I love watching him explore his 3 ft ladder and surrounding area...you know petsmart doesn't have anything like this and they are expensive.... more

This was my first visit to this store, I bought a caique from a family who purchased him at the bird shop and decided to visit. I was greeted by very friendly and helpfull staff, and pleased to find very happy and well adjusted birds. I have been involved with psittacines for over 20 years and have seen my share of unacceptable bird stores, this one however is great. These people had no idea who I was or how involved in aviculture I am so they had no reason to treat me any different than any other customer, with that said i would imagine that this is the type of service they offer all of the time. Pros: Great staff, great birds, fair prices, clean cages, great selection ( please note that bird availability is often seasonal) Cons: no hand sanitizer more

Birds! I love birds, and they have some great ones. Though OMG is it loud in there. I almost just want to run out and get a large bottle of Advil for the staff! =) \r It is a great place to learn about the different kinds of birds. There prices are a little high but they are a specialty shop so that tends to happen. I would say if you want a nice healthy bird get it there and as long as you don't need a large cage get it some place else, cheaper. The bird seed is a good price but I suggest mixing the good vitamin enriched with some of the other filler. Your birds wont mind. But keep in mind, I have had problems with bugs in there seed so you should take it home and freeze it for 24hr to kill any bugs in the seeds be for you give it to your birds. more

If you have a bird, this is a great place to find the perfect cage, toy or treats for it! Parking is ample and once inside, you are greeted by parrots. Nice selection on cages, bird food and toys. They also have some nice birds for sale (hand fed or not). I go there once in awhile when I want to get something special for my cockatiel. The Bird Shop has the best selection in the Sacramento Area. They have a wide variety of toys for my white unbrella cockaoo. The staff are very helpful and give you great tips in chosing the best products for your birds. PROS: variety CONS: none more
