Billiard Den

The Billiards Den is by far one of the best pool rooms in the city. The staff is very friendly and courteous to their customers. The pool Tables are well kept and a real treat to play on. If you are in to darts and ping pong then you are in luck, they have all that business there also. Many times when I have visited this fine establishment there as been a gentleman there that performs professional cue care, IE shaft reconditioning and tip replacement at very reasonable prices. When it comes to the food, I have never eaten anything there that was bad. Everything is pretty much delicious. Don’t at all be afraid of the Frito Pie. The homemade Chili is outstanding. In short if you want a cool place to hang out, this is the place to go. I have never seen or hear of any trouble or fights or any of that sand box nonsense at all. While my sons were home from college over the holidays, we took some time out away from the rest of the family and played a couple of games of pool. I was suprised at the overall size of the Billiard Den.... it's huge! We had a great time and the food and drinks were wonderful. Looking forward to visiting the Den again soon. more

This spot is a must-visit for any serious pool player or darts fan. (Or ping pong player; there's a table not four feet from the bar so be prepared to duck!) Unfortunately I am neither. But I do love some good ole fried bar food and bending an elbow with friendly folks--and Billiard Den delivers it. This is not the spot for someone looking for a $12 martini or super attentive service. Rather, it's a blue collar, no-frills spot with equally no-nonsense waitresses...ones that 80% of the time bring you the correct drink WHEN they remember to ask if you'd like another. Eh, can't be too picky and since there's rarely more than two waitresses on the floor, at any time I've ever visited, and I'm sure walking the expanse of this surprisingly large place gets really old. So I'll cut them some slack. Since this is a longneck and whiskey shot kind of bar, I can't be too bothered by the fact that the liquor selection is really limited. The very affordable and delicious cheese sticks and 'gourmet' burger more than makeup for any flaws. Do be warned that the regulars sometimes raise a fuss, but it's usually just good-natured rowdiness. ( But it's not the spot for a quiet first date. It's a real pool hall, y'all!!) Bring your pool cue and an appetite and some bills for the jukebox and you won't be disappointed. Also, check out karaoke on Sat nights...a rockin good time. One warning: This is a smoker's bar. It's one of those 'smoking isn't just allowed, it's encouraged' kinda places.
