Was not impressed 3/31/2012

I have lived in Houston 16 years and right down the street from Big Woodrows for 4 years. I decieded to go Saturday 3-31-2012 and try the famous crawfish I hear so much about on the internet with my girlfreind. Right off the get go the waitress was not very freindly, we asked for ice tea and got horribly watered down ice tea. The waitress asked if we would like a pitcure of water instead when we asked to take the tea back and get us coke ( didn't think that was funny). The crawfish was cold and tasted fishy, they charged extra for the small corn and potatos you get with the crawfish. We didn't finish our meal and left around 3 lbs of crawfish on the table. I am sure the place is a great place to have fun with freinds and drink beer, as for the food service I will go elsewhere. more

Epitome of Texas Goodness 7/7/2009

Woodrow's is a great place to just go, drink some delicious drinks and eat some yummy barfood. Highly suggested, and worth checking out. Pros: Drink Specials, Food & Atmosphere Cons: Can't think of any more

Great Place for a Friday Night! 1/13/2009

I just moved into the area and this is just a really great friendly bar. I have no negative opinions about Woodrows, except their are too many tables! Pros: Awesome place Cons: Too many chairs and tables arranged funky more

Great for Tiger Fans!! 11/3/2008

Love this place on LSU Gameday. However, I am finding that it is becoming more and more crowded with UT fans and they're starting to demand that the Tv's be turned to the UT games even though it is an LSU bar with LSU fans already sitting there. Other than that though I usually enjoy everything there. Pros: Good food and drinks, good value Cons: UT people trying to take over the only LSU bar in Houston more

unbelievable food and great service with a smile! 4/28/2008

I was there about 2 months and have been going back ever since. On my first visit i was told a thirty minute wait, I almost left cause im not a very patient person but than god i didnt leave! it was simply amazing from the food to the service. Ive eaten some of the tastiest crawfish at this place. I cant wait to go back...mmmmm Pros: great food Cons: building size more

Good TImes, Good Food 4/27/2008

Woodrows is a great place to go and unwind, the beer is cold, the food is hot, and there is most likly something of interest on the tvs. I have been frequenting Big Woodrow's for the Crawfish for as long as i can remember, and althought the priceing is average (at $4.99 a pound) the quality is not lacking! The other food on the menu is great as well, we always start off with an appatizer of fried pickels and gator, move on to the Crawfish, and finish every thing off by munching on some texas hushpuppies. The over all atmosphere is quite unique. Entertaining and friendly, If one ever has a problem the waitstaff or managers are willing to help in any way they can. The decore never ceses to amaze me, every time i walk in there is something new on the walls. (every thing from new specials and new neons to a dress and other random bits of clothing.) I would highly recomend going to Big Woodrows to any one who loves to have a good time, enjoy good food, and be around real good people. Pros: One of a Kind Atmosphere more

Response to this Review - Beware of waitress, she'll tag extra money on your receipt 4/10/2008

An effort to correct this situation has been made. The employee in question is no longer with Woodrow's and the customer has been compensated. This event is not an every day occurrence at Woodrow's and not acceptable. We want our customers to be happy and come back to enjoy our hospitality!!! more

Beware of waitress, she'll tag extra money on your receipt 4/2/2008

I would have given a rating of 4 stars because they did have amazing crawfish (even at $5 a pound), but I just checked my bank account and noticed the waitress tacked another $2 or $3 on my what my signed receipt shows. I spoke to my friend that was with me and she said the waitress did this to her also. Pros: crawfish Cons: dishonest waitress more

Great Deals All Week Long 6/29/2006

Where else in Houston can you find cheap draft beer on an outside deck on a Saturday night or $3.50 Grey Goose or Crown Royal on a Friday night. My friends and I usually start here to pre-party before heading ""out"" but we rarely ever end up leaving the Woodrow's Deck. It may be a sports bar but quite a few attractive ladies show up here also. Even if you are not an LSU football fan, Saturday's in the fall when LSU is on, this is a site that you have got to check out....it is crazy. During the spring there is not a better place intown to eat crawfish at then Big Woodrow's deck. The attractive female wait staff are friendly unlike the girls at other snobby bars. If you arrive for happy hour, do not expect to leave till late Pros: The DECK, Cheap drinks, great specials Cons: Get here early on game days more

Big 12 weekend 12/4/2005

Went to Woodrow's Friday night before the Big 12 Championship with my family and was very impressed with the food and service. Members of our family ranged in age from 6 to 61 yrs old and we all had a good time. You definately get your moneys worth on the food. There sampler platter is more than enough to feed 2 people and still have leftovers. You do have to find the hostess though to be seated. She was not at front like most restaurants/sports bars. All in all I would come back for the experience again. Pros: Food , Service , Atmosphere Cons: Parking more

First time go there and it is great 6/15/2005

Read reviews from citysearch and thought going there for their crawfish special. Service is quick except when seating, no one helps. Waitress comes to us within couple minutes and bring drinks right away. recommend us happy hour specials. very nice. crawfish is great and spicy. We also had a chich philli cheese and it is the best chick sandwich we ever had. Food comes to table quick. Waitress comes by a few time during meal to check on us and replace filled bucket (alot crawfish shells). We had good time there. Will go again. Pros: crawfish, service Cons: indoor is small, parking more

BAD Service 3/27/2005

We met friends here on a Saturday afternoon -- nothing major going on in the sporting world other than the NCAA tourney had just started. The deck was okay and the sound was quiet enough that you could have a conversation without yelling at each other. The food was decent, once we actually got it. Our waitress was AWFUL -- she'd ignore us for a while, then finally come over and get our drink order and then reappear with it 10-15 minutes later. The place was NOT busy! We ordered an appetizer sampler platter -- half hour later she brings us a tray of crawfish. At least she comped our food. BAD SERVICE! Cons: BAD SERVICE more

Woodrow's is Aight 12/11/2002

Been there on Sunday's to watch more NFL games than my brain could handle. Tried the mudbugs and there were decent....not a place AT ALL to meet women though...to bad cuz it is a party type atmosphere during the games, but what do expect with 90% dudes only in attendance......I still go.... more

cold beer 8/9/2002

Authentic Cajun food and PLENTY of appetizers to go along with the city's COLDEST beer. Best college football location in town. Geaux Tigers! Isn't a great problem to have when your beer is delivered with ice in the bottle! Very casual and the city's largest deck. See you there! Pros: great food, cold beer, fun Cons: no liquor, crowded more

good cold beer, not so good food 8/7/2002

Great place to watch the game and have cold beer. The food was a little less desirable - but this is an 'ice-house' so I should have guessed about the food quality. more

""Party,"" used as a verb 6/17/2002

Woodrows is fine for a casual happy hour, or for people unaquainted with the benefits of a skilled bartender. It's a place for bottled beer and people who still use ""party"" as a verb, well into their 20s. The best patio in town is The Social -- Hot bartenders, cool breeze outside, DJ music, delicious cocktails and real pints. The big leather chaise lounge by the front door may be the most coveted place to sit in all of Houston nightlife. Pros: casual, cheap, inviting Cons: miller lite is lame, lots of (281) people, not much to do more
