Whatever other people may say about the strip mall seating, this place is GREAT! This style of BBQ is best eaten next door to the bowling ally at the park (which is less than a block away). This is outdo' food. The tri-tip and ribs are superb, but the thing that got me hooked (and yes, sometimes I fiend like a junkie for) the greens and cornbread. Now, I'm from the deep, dirty south and I know a thing or two about greens. My MAMA couldn't cook greens like this. The slightly sweet cornbread (if sliced in half the long way with the greens just dumped on top of it) is the perfect companion for this culinary masterpeice. So, nevermind the downhome service of an ex-Subway one man organization. That one man KNOWS what he's doing. more

We were pleasantly surprised by ""Big Joe's"" (the new name of Smokin' Joe's) because its located in a dingy strip mall in Citrus Heights, not an area known for fine dining. Pros: pork spareribs are very meaty and delicious Cons: uncomfortable seating more
