Best

This place is great, because they have many types of chocolates and cookies that are unique to hawaii. One of the best things is that on entering the store, they will give out so...

Unique cookies 9/12/2005

This factory sells delicious handmade chocolate dipped shortbread cookies and candies. They have won numerous awards for their yummy chocolate dipped cookies. These cookies make a perfect gift for everyone. You can get a free cup of coffee on your way in and you can also get samples of cookies and candies from the salespersons. There is a viewing area so that you can view their confections being made. more

Delicious 9/1/2005

I always come here to buy cookies for family and friends whether its for Christmas or any other occasion. It is always a treat for us to get cookie and candy samples after we enter the store. We can also try Kona coffee samples at the door. The prices are high but the chocolate dipped cookies are to die for. more

Great cookies! 8/20/2005

This is not a difficult thing to come up with folks, chocolate dipped short bread cookies. But did we come up with the idea of individually wrapping them and dipping them diagonally in chocoloate? No! That's why they are rich and we are poor. From the moment you step off the airplane in Hilo you will notice a million tourists (ok, maybe not a million, but you get the idea) with the "take out" Big Island Candies boxes, filled with chocolate chip cookies and the tiny mouth watering guava ones that I can eat about 50 in one sitting (well maybe I'm exagerrating a bit, 20). Check them out before you leave Hilo, your friends will love you for it. Visit them here if you can't fly to Hilo, HI: http://www.bigislandcandies.com/ more

Must visit in Hilo! 8/10/2005

When we visit the Big Island, we like to stop in and see what is new at Big Island Candies. I especially love the coffee candies. We get smaller boxes and put them in care packages for people. You can try most anything and also it is really neat to watch how they make the candy. You can now get ice cream and deserts there too. At Easter, they have the cutest arrangements and gift ideas too. There is plenty of parking. The only downside is that sometimes it is packed inside and it was hard for us to find at first. The store is located in the middle of a neighborhood. It is also a little bit expensive for candy, but it is a specialty store, so that can be expected. more

Yummy cookies! 8/8/2005

Whenever family members go to the Big Island, they always bring back a selection from Big Island Candies and everyone is pleasantly satisfied as they apprecaite the high-quality chocolates that the shortbread cookies are dipped in. A little more pricey than store-bought cookies but definitely worth it! A very thoughtful gift for omiyage. more

Treats for my sweet! 8/7/2005

No matter what you did or didn't do she'll forgive you when presented with a large box of these candies. The packaging is a prelude to the experience contained within. They take the ever popular macademia nut and raise it to a new level. Forget W___ W____ and his Chocolate Factory! This is the real thing. As you enter this Dream Factory you are offered samples to the most scrumptious assault on ones taste buds. So many flavors, so many designs and you only have one tongue. Beyond the sheets of glass you witness the creation of these tantalizing treats. So much chocolate and so little time. Please visit the factory and see if you are strong enough to resist its power, I don't think so! more

Y-U-M-M-Y! 8/7/2005

Wonderful products, wonderful atmosphere! I take my girls here every so often as a treat. An employee offers samples and coffee as the customers walk through the door, and there are windows where everyone can actually see the employees hand-dipping the cookies and other goodies. And their ice cream is heavenly! I've picked up a lot of orders for my mother-in-law, and the way the company runs is very smoothly and orderly. more

I Love Shopping Here 8/5/2005

Every time that I need to buy my family and friends in Honolulu gifts, I come to Big Island Candies. Located off the main highway, this store looks more like a candy factory. In fact, you can look around in the store and also watch the workers in the factory through large glass windows. Its pretty interesting to see how their candy and chocolate dipped cookies are made. The prices are steep for their merchandise but the cookies are very delicious. more

Awesome Cookie Factory and Store 8/4/2005

One of our favorite places to visit is Big Island Candies because we always get free samples of cookies and candies when we enter the store. If you want you can even get free Kona coffee too. This is a great place to buy chocolate dipped shortbread cookies for your relatives and family that live in Honolulu or elsewhere. We always buy merchandise from Big Island Candies for family and friends as Christmas gifts because they always love to eat these treats. The cookies are packaged in beautiful gold boxes. The store also sells candies and unusual local snacks such as chocolate dipped arare and cuttle fish. The merchandise is quite expensive but well worth the price. more
