June, 2013\r We contracted JKS Home Improvement to build one large and one small deck. This experience was one we have never had before. First of all, after removing the ledger board the owner of JKS informed us we had termites, but in reality it was water damage. This should have been our first clue. He then billed us to replace 6 sheets of plywood and 3 rolls of insulation. He only used 3 sheets of plywood and one roll of insulation. He refused to reimburse us and to give us an itemized bill. They do not give itemized bills his brother told us. He never got a building permit, when I called the code enforcement officer and he placed a cease work order the owner came and wanted to take all the wood that was to be used for the deck. When I said no he called the sheriff. \r The workers made many mistakes and said that was the way we wanted it.\r The deck has been completed for 5 days and the crappy wood they used for the floors has knots that are starting to fall out and leave holes. They used the worst wood they could find. They left a mess of nails and cigarette butts and a pile of dirt on the stones around our patio.\r If you contract this company be sure to get every detail in writing and make sure your money goes ino an escrow account. \r The deck did pass code even through the spindles are more than 4"" apart. Why? Good question.\r more

I recently took my 2003 Taurus to Upfront Auto here in Binghamton for a balance and alignment. We were hearing some noise on the right side so we asked him to just check it out and let us know because we like to do the work ourselves. After paying $118 for the B&A, he stated on the receipt that the right front spring was broken. We pulled it out this morning and it's NOT BROKEN!!!! Also, while doing the balancing, they put the wheel weights on the OUTSIDE of the aluminum rims. My bf is a trained automechanic and left a message asking why they put the weights where they did when on day ONE of training they say 'on the inside, boys!' When we called to see what could be done about it after our message went ignored, the man told us 'he was too p***ed off to talk to us and that he would rather have the courts involved'. DO NOT GIVE THESE LIARS AND THIEVES YOUR BUSINESS!!!! more

Mathew Tumminia Maintenance and Remodeling =WRIP OFF 4/9/2012

We hired Mathew Tumminia as an Electrician on March 13, 2012 to do two things for us....Wire our Circuit Breaker Box to an Outside Electic Control Panel and to install an Outside Electric Supply for us from the Electric Control Panel....\r He did Wire our Circuit Breaker Box BUT said he had to come back to install the Outside Electric Supply for us....We paid him UP FRONT and he hasn't come back, nor has he returned any of my MANY phone calls that I have left for him on his Cell Phone, which is the Only number we have for him, as it is on his Business Card...\r We did not get a receipt for the money we paid him, as we paid him in ""Good Faith"" and apparently that was a BIG MISTAKE on our part....\r I do NOT reccommend anyone using this person for anything, or if you do MAKE SURE YOU GET YOUR WORK DONE FIRST, THEN PAY HIM, as he is not anyone that can be trusted on a Good Faith Policy using only a verbal agreement, and having nothing in writing... more

Bug Killer Pest Control, 99 Robinson St, Binghamton, NY 11/17/2011

BEWARE - this pest control company is a SCAM. They are all in it for the money and will gouge you with their limited services & knowledge. I asked them to treat my mothers place for BED BUGS, they come out and use 3 16 oz cans of Precore 2000 and spend less than half an hour and charge her $309!! and Precore 2000 is NOT NOT NOT for bed bugs, it is for FLEAS, ants, cockroaches, etc. They used the wrong chemical and they are trying to weasel out of it with lies. I am now working a dispute with my credit card company to not pay them. When I called the owner (Doug Ritter) he sounded like he was drunk, slurring his words, and sounds way too old to be running a company.......BEWARE. Dont believe their Great reviews on Angie's List - ITS NOT TRUE.\r \r \r more

TARGET practices bait and switch 11/29/2010

Target published a 24 page circular in our local newspaper on 11/28/2010. On the front page they had lowest price of the season specials. When I went to the store I found out that 2 items were not in stock, never were in stock, and the salesman told me they had none on order. I asked if I could have the floor model and was told no. I asked to speak with the manager who refused to come out of hiding from under his desk but instead sent a clueless Leader On Duty who told me that I should come back every day for the next 5 days and see if they got any in.., right waste my time and gas to chase a non-existent special. This bait and switch technique is not only poor business practice but illegal, More people should complain. I am also filing a complaint with the consumer protection agency. more

AVOID Kitchen Hearth and Home 10/22/2008

We recently purchased a pellet stove from Kitchen Hearth and Home on Upper Front St. in Binghamton, NY. \r \r Do not ever deal with these people!\r \r We were very specific on what options we wanted and did not want on our stove. The sales person, Carl, told us (nothing in the store had a price tag on it) the price, w/ our selected options. \r \r The stove they delivered (and installation) had higher priced options, we asked the installation men (very nice courteous people) about the discrepancy in the options? They said that they would have to check, at a later date, w/ the sales department. We said OK, thinking it was not a big deal to swap them? \r \r The installation people started it up to let the paint cure. As they are supposed to! There was never any discussion about this being a problem.\r \r Two weeks later, when Carl called us back, he pretended to not know which options we choose. (It was not listed on our bill of sale.) It was clear, however, that we were CHARGED for the higher priced options. Carl said that we could have the options we selected when they came in, but we would not be refunded the difference in price b/c we had ?already used? our stove. \r \r The owner, John, was put on the phone and he was very impolite and unwilling to make good on our choices and the price difference until we threatened him; w/ AG action, bad press and charging the difference back to him. He then agreed to give us (when it came in) the option we ordered and the price difference?but we were to NEVER receive service or pellets from them in the future, b/c John, the owner ?can?t do business w/ people he can?t trust.? He was fine with swapping the lower priced options for the higher priced option but did not want to refund the price difference. \r \r Then John tried to blame us, for not knowing that we were being overcharged, even though we had no way of knowing this was being done to us, until after we paid for everything and the stove was installed 3 months later. \r more

Horrible customer service 6/17/2008

I purchased roof shingles for my home in March and was asked to pay up front for them. I asked if they had to be delivered then or could I wait until June. Was told by ABC Building Supply that I had to pay up front, but, they would deliver in June...I received an email that my cc was credited with the amount of purchase and I called to inquire about delivery. They said they could not get a hold of me and credited back the purchase amount and sold my shingles. I would have to wait another 30 days for the shingles but it would be at a much higher costs. I had specifically asked for delivery in June and was told that that would be fine. John, Kim and Mgr Bruce would not honor the original sale.Said it had to be delivered when purchased. They had my address for the sale but not my number?? Will not EVER buy anything from this company again. Their word is not honorable and the mgmt does not respect customers who pay CASH. Sorry is not an answer. Told to go elswhere, which I will and hopefully most of you who read this letter more
