To comment on Stefano C's ""tip"": I have utilized Best Friends in Avon for years. I not only have gone to events they sponsor at their facility for rescue foundations and local arts and crafts talents, I have boarded my dog there, had my dog groomed there, and dropped my dog off for Daycamp with other dogs. I have obviously seen the kennels where the dogs sleep over because good owners go ask to see the place and ask what the daily routine is for feeding and cleaning. That area Stefano C mentions as the area where the dogs are thrown together while their kennels are being cleaned is actually the Daycamp area where the dogs play all day who are dropped off for the day NOT a holding area for dogs while their kennels are cleaned. \r \r Personally, I don't care where other people board their dogs. Every owner should go and tour as many kennels are they can before making a decision where to board. I checked three places before I chose Best Friends. Go there and look for yourself. Ask all the questions you want. If you don't like how it looks or like their routine, then don't leave your dog there. WOW, What a nightmare of a place. The other reviewer of this place mentions that they asked a lot of questions and seemed thorough in getting the dogs history and even feeding the dog...that's what ALL dog daycares are supposed to do. This place actually keeps your dog in a kennel all day and you have to pay extra for walks and play times. I was there dropping off one day while I happened to see one of the staff members take a dog out for a walk. I didn't check my watch but she couldn't have walked him for more than 3 minutes. I also saw that they keep most of the dogs in a large play area while they clean their kennels without first determining if the dogs get along. I witnessed a lot of aggressive barking while I was there. In speaking with some friends who live in the area of this daycare, I was told that on more than one occassion there was a dog that was roaming thier neighborhood becasue the dog somehow managed to escape the daycare. One particular dog was found weeks later in a neighboring town. \r In summary, I would never go back here because I feel that there are many other wonderful options in town and in neighboring towns that actually love your dog and appreciate the business more than this national franchise that keeps your dog in a kennel all day.\r more

We have been bringing our dog to Best Friends for years. He is very large and generally not particularly well behaved with people he doesn't know. However, he seems to sense that the staff at Best Friends truly know and like dogs. He goes with them without a problem, and he always seems relaxed and happy when we pick him up. Their grooming skills are outstanding. I don't know how they handle him so well, but they do. We appreciate the fact that the staff always insists that he be up to date with his shots. We know that if they are careful about that with our dog, they are careful with every other dog that boards there, too. It's a bit of a drive for us to get there, but it is absolutely worth the trip, because we know we don't have to worry about his care at Best Friends. more

Best Friends Pet Care in Avon is the only place I will bring my dog for boarding or grooming. After a local pet sitter we had engaged became unreliable, I was in a bind, days away from a vacation, with nobody to care for my dog. I called Best Friends, after hearing good things about them from our vet, and was pleasantly surprised to find a clean, well run facility with a super friendly staff. My dog now actually looks forward to his stays, and his grooms at Best Friends. During our last vacation, the staff even emailed me photos of my dog enjoying his nature walks, playgroups, etc. Little things like that mean so much when you're worried if your pet is missing you! The staff is friendly, courteous, and very responsive to phone calls or inquiries. Highly recommend. more

Best Friends in Avon is thee best kennel on the planet and here's why. The staff. They are gentle, kind and very loving. They are knowledgeable, patient and great with animals. They always have a friendly demeanor when checking in and out, yet work quickly to reduce any trama our animals may have when arriving/departing, to which they are sensitive. Another point, the facilities. There is plenty of enclosed places for running around, and yet lots of nature/woods for investigating during nature walks. The grounds are always kept clean and tidy. Lastly, the groomer. she is phenominal. My dog ALWAYS leaves Best Friends looking great and feeling relaxed. It's AMAZING because my dog, Blueberry, is a handful-to put it lightly. Yet, everytime she leaves Best Friends in Avon, she comes home happy, healthy, and relaxed. OMG~ My dog had 4 bleeding toes and she come out of there shaved. My sweet angel looks like she had been tortured. She is so nervous now from her experience, Please if you care about your pet think twice before going here more

I would board my dogs here again in a heartbeat! The manager Jen is such a dog person, we got along right away. She definitely took an interest in my two dogs (Swiss Mtn Dogs), asked a lot of questions about the breed, and seemed to really want to get to know them. \r \r They were very thorough in taking the history and vaccine records for my guys. I liked that. They were willing to feed my food, and said that they prefer that because it keeps the dogs from getting tummy upsets. That made me feel a lot better too because I've been to places that say they'll feed your food, but then obviously don't (and you can tell -- not to be too graphic of anything, when the dog goes to the bathroom).\r \r When I picked them up after the week, they were happy, tails wagging, not stressed at all. And not particularly anxious to leave. In fact, I felt a little jilted! But once I got them outside, away from the great staff in the lobby, they decided they still wanted to go home with me.\r \r I will board my dogs here again in the future, without hesitation.
