Nice female clerk, poor service from the jeweler, and unreasonably prices. I took a watch in on WEDNESDAY morning for removal of the back so that a new battery could be inserted, a simple job which requires a tool a jeweler usually possesses. I was told that I could pick the watch up later in the day after the jeweler came in. I told the clerk I could not return that day, but would return on FRIDAY morning. I called on Friday morning to be sure that the watch was ready or pickup, only to be told that it was still on the jeweler's table, and no work had been done. The clerk offered that I could return later in the day. Cost $27.50 for the simple job. I picked up the watch and will take it to a real jeweler who charges reasonable prices. more

DO NOT GO HERE!! HORRIBLE repair work from Scott, the owner. Not too mention horrible customer service. I'd been engaged for only one week before going there and the work he did was beyond crappy! I gave him a brand new 18kt white gold engagement ring to be downsized and he gave it back to me DENTED, DISCOLORED AND WITH SCRATCHES!! I go back the next week and he halfway repairs it by making the scratches minimal and the ring is now lopsided! Brand new engagement ring!! Please don't trust this smug con-artist with your precious jewels. For him to consistently do this to people only proves he truly does not care about quality customer service. How is he still in business again?? Something needs to be done about this! He didn't even size my finger to get the right fit and my ring is actually still too big $178 and two trips later!! Save yourself the headache and go elsewhere! more

HORRIBLE! Do NOT go here. \r I would give this place negative 500 stars if I could.\r I went here to have my engagement ring re-sized and one of the prongs straightened. Aside from the size and that one prong, the ring was PERFECT. My fiance had just given me the ring, which was a family heirloom, an antique from his great-great-aunt that was from the late 1800s. \r Mr. Isaac did the following to ruin my gorgeous antique engagement ring: \r CHIPPED the main diamond. \r Bent the frame horribly out of shape.\r Warped the prong\r Broke the ring, and had to re-fit the small side diamonds in an unseemly, awkward, childishly-done looking way. \r When I went back to see what could be done, I was friendly and calm in spite of my disappointment. He was ABSURDLY rude to me. His tone and degrading demeanor were the worst part of the experience.\r Please, please, please avoid this business. \r I had to go elsewhere to have the ring fixed, but it was not able to be fully repaired and will still never be the same. :( It was appraised at $4,500 and has gone down significantly in value. Worst of all, I will now remember the nightmare of this man whenever I look at this important piece of jewelry that I want to wear for the rest of my life. more

Horrible, Rude, Extortionist! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!! 11/14/2011

I would pick zero stars if I could. The owner at this ""repair"" shop is rude, does not care about his customers or their jewelry, and charges absolutely ridiculous prices. Take your family heirlooms and precious stones somewhere else, unless you want to have your repairs take weeks, have to deal with an unhappy, unpleasant jerk owner only just to pay indefensible fees for shoddy work. Awful. more

Incompetent Repair Work 9/20/2011

I wish I read the reviews before letting Belle Meade Jewelry & Repair work on an antique heirloom engagement ring. The owner pointed out some areas in need of repair and spoke confidently about his skills. Well, after a premium charge and review of the repairs, the work appeared to be below average in quality. I paid the high cost and took the ring as I did not want him to touch it again. I asked two other jewelers in Nashville what they thought about the repair work and they nicely informed the work was not great. I think Scott knew the repair work was shoddy as he quickly showed each weld on the blown up microscope screen and rang me up for $1K. Incompetent skills for repair. Best advice, just go somewhere else, google it first and do not learn the hard way as I and other reviewers. more

DO NOT GO HERE! 9/20/2011

I will not EVER go back here...EVER EVER!!! I took my great grandmothers ring here and now I dont think it can be repaired. I took it to get some of the filigree replaced and fixed because this is a very old ring. I would've rather he said ""I can't do this work"" then mess with my ring. I got it back and it was crooked, lumpy and looks bad. I am VERY unhappy with it and have since taken it to several jewelers in the area who all agree that the work I received was not quality. I would take it back to him to complain, but I don't want him messing with it anymore than he has! I would take your antiques elsewhere for a repair! Not to mention he over-quoted us on several other questions we asked him. I would not trust my valuables in his hands again! I wish I could give zero stars for how I feel! more

Absolutley Horrendous Experience!! 9/13/2011

If zero stars was an option, that is what I would have checked. I took my vintage heirloom engagement ring to Belle Meade Jewelry & Repair to be sized down, when I got it back the band looked horrible. It was lumpy and thinned out in weird spots. I asked Scott (the owner and repairer) about it and he got extremely defensive. I took it to two other reputable jewelers in Nashville and they both concluded that I payed top dollar for a job that was done incorrectly. I went back to ask for the situation to be rectified. Again he got extremely defensive. He told me that that's just how rings looked after they've been re-sized. I took my ring off to show him exactly what I had a problem with. He took it off the counter and proceeded to start grinding down the gold band to ""fix"" it. Both me and my fiance were yelling for him to please stop and return my ring. He ignored us! When he was done defacing my ring it looked worse. He then began asking us why we were trying to ruin our own engagement and why we couldn't just be happy with what he did. He finally told us that he would do no refund and if we had a problem with that we could just sue him. Long story short: DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY WITH YOUR JEWELERY. I have never been treated so disrespectfully by a supposed ""professional."" I was able to take my ring to another jeweler in town that fixed it beautifully. Pros: At least he didn't swap my diamond out with something fake. Cons: The entire experience. more

Go Somewhere Else. Owner doesn't stand by his jewlery. 4/12/2011

My husband and I found a beautiful 2 ct band in this store priced at 6500.00. The owner quickly discounted it to 4000.00. I loved it. It fit. We left. For our 30th wedding anniversary my husband went back to get it for me. \r When I opened the box on our anniversary night, we were of course not in jewelry store lighting and I immediately noticed the flaw in the center of the ring. I did not notice in the store due to the extreme shine under the lights. It is a channel set using baguettes and round stones. The baguettes are all whole stones with the exception of in the very center there are 2 tapered stones put together to make a whole. Under normal lighting conditions this appears to be a broken or loose or crooked stone. \r When I took it back to ask about it the owner said that ""it is part of the ring and it was there when we bought it....that he did not try to hide it"" \r I agreed that it was there, but there was no way for us to know it until my husband left the store with it and we looked at it under normal light. \r I have been back to him 5 times. Each time he tells me to keep it clean (I even bought a steamer from him) and to see it as ""just part of the ring"". He finally said I could exchange it for something else, but when I told him there was nothing in the store that was similar to the style and I would like him to either fix it or give me a refund, he told me that ""it is obvious that you are gonna have to just take me to court. I am not giving a refund and I am not going to fix it. I am not going to budge"". \r I have had the ring examined by 3 professional jewelers who acknowledge the use of tapered stones in the middle of this ring as poor technique that should be repaired or refunded. \r We should have known that he was trying to unload this ring when he discounted it 2500.00. Thought we were dealing with a professional as opposed to an unapologetic con.\r Do yourself a favor....go somewhere else.\r more

Quality Work and Good Customer Service 2/2/2011

After an awful experience at another estate jewerly repair shop in town, I brought my antique engagement ring into Belle Meade Jewelry & Repair. Not only I was able to get it sized down on the spot but the owner was very helpful about answering all the other questions I had about the ring including insurance estimate, size of diamond, proper care, etc. I will definetly return to Belle Meade Jewelry & Repair! more

BUYER BEWARE! 7/19/2010

I took my engagement ring and wedding band in to Belle Meade Jewelry & Repair to be welded together. I was charged $20 for the service (which was simple and completed within 5 minutes). A few months later, the welding broke apart, and I returned to the jeweler to have it fixed. I was told that to do it again it would be $75 dollars... more than THREE TIMES the amount I was originally charged. Outrageous! But wait, there is more... I was told by the owner that for the ring to be held together properly it needed to be welded on the top and the bottom (previously it had just been done on the bottom), and that is why there is such a cost difference. I asked if he could cut me a break since I am a loyal customer and it is a RETURN visit. Again, he responded, ""The work costs $75. That's That."" I explained that I am not a jeweler, that I did not know it needed to be connected in two spots, and by his own account the work I paid for was clearly sub-par. It was only because of the lack of quality I was back in the shop to have their work fixed. When I asked how could I be responsible for paying three times as much for a repair that was not completed correctly, I was told flatly, ""That will be $75."" So BUYER BEWARE. Belle Meade Jewelry & Repair will break your jewelry then charge you three times that amount to get it fixed. Talk about a scam. I am in the process of reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. Cons: over charging, damaging jewelry more

Owner/Operator will try to scam last penny out of you 5/14/2010

I never thought I'd have to use a complaint board as I have been very lucky in my dealings, but I feel I must warn those who are planning on going here and let everyone know the scam and awful service this one man ""store"" tries to inflict on it's clients. Forgive the format of the letter as I took pieces from the official complaint left with the BBB and my credit card company. \r \r I ordered a ring from a reputable jeweler online. Unfortunately at size 7.5 it was too big for her. We wanted to get it done quickly as she was so looking forward to it, so my fiancée and I went to a major jeweler in town to resize it. They could not do it on site so recommended that we go to Belle Meade Jewelry about two miles away as it is a one man shop that does resizing, etc. We went there and this is where the silliness began, but I assumed he knew what he was doing. We told him the current size was 7.5 and it needed to be made smaller. He did not size her he only ""used his expertise"" to say that she was a 6.5 upon seeing how loose it was. He said he uses a special laser technique and could get it done in under an hour, so we agreed. I came back an hour later without her to pick it up and paid him $163.88. This is for a service that usually runs about 30 to 75 dollars, but I wanted it done and he appeared to be a professional. He had given me and the customer before us the speil about ""lasers and super precision"" before negotiating on non-set outrageous prices. i.e. I'll do it for 300, no 250, etc.. As soon as I get home, the ring is still way too big. The shine for the enhanced diamond had been tarnished and one of the small stones was missing. (I am not claiming this as the reason for chargeback, only the sizing, but it was still infuriating. The missing stone is listed on the updated receipt.)\r \r We both go back to him to ask him to size it correctly. He patently refuses to measure her and says he will make it a size 6 for an extra 100 dollars. Again he not only didn't measure her, he refused to, saying he does this ""by eye"". I said this is unacceptable and asked for a refund. He refused. I went back to the large jeweler in town to size her properly and it was of course a 5.5 when they actually used the measurer. I called him the next day to tell him about the ACTUAL size and he said he wouldn't do it and that's just part of the process. If it's part of the process to not make a ring fit, how does he stay in business? I could get no further recourse from him, so I mailed it back to the seller for resizing and because he was a reputable guy he resized it and shipped it back for $60 total (I have enclosed the receipts that detail work and the postage I sent to him). It wound up costing me almost a hundred dollars in addition to get it done that way, but it was worth it. \r \r In summary the merchant sized her incorrectly, wanted to charge more money to do it incorrectly again, and then refused to do anything to fix the situation when we refused to be ripped off again. He declined to refund or fix the situation on two separate occasions as well as two phone calls. Sleazy fellow who has no accountability. Be wary. Pros: Laser machine work done on camera Cons: Excessively expensive, no set price (neg), doesn't back work more
