My wife brought our dog to the clinic because she was acting lethargic, not eating, or not drinking. The vet did some tests, and then determined her liver enzymes were high. He immediately wanted to have a liver biopsy done. My wife asked if an ultrasound would be better and less invasive. His response was, ""we cannot find anything definitive with an ultrasound, we will need to do the biopsy to find the answer"" He suggested a referral hospital for the biopsy, but then stated that he would do it the very next day and he was qualified to do it. We opted to wait and take her to the hospital. Thank goodness we did. The problem was not with the liver but with a mass on her heart. The vet was indeed one of the owners of the clinic. His arrogance, and lack of experience to deal with these situations would have killed her during the biopsy due to the fluid build up around her heart and inability to have good blood flow to the rest of her body as well as her blood's chances to clot because the of the platelet count (Which was found during the blood test he did). When we took her to someone that actually knew what they were talking about, we were told that the biopsy would be a last resort, and would be done after more blood work and and ultrasound. The ultrasound gave all the answers we needed and allowed us to have a few more hours with her so the kids could say goodbye. \r I would never trust someone that does not do his job thoroughly. He may be qualified to do ""well"" exams and physicals, but for anything serious, I would never trust him. He jumps to conclusions without being thorough in his diagnosis even when the numbers are on a test he took. I would never want a doctor that is unqualified to treat me, and I would not want an unqualified vet to treat my dog. It is a shame that people like that are allowed to have the job they do. \r The vet we saw there was Brian Ray. Maybe there are more qualified vets that this place, but I will never take that chance again. \r If you care about your pet, I would try and find someone that is at least thorough in their job and take pride in their work. Do not go to Bell City Veterinary Hospital. more

I was completely disgusted with the professional behavior of this clinic. Two Days in a row a member of my family and myself experienced traumatic situations regarding a newborn kitty and a feline that has been with us for twenty years. Comet, a newborn, just became a companion to my aging father. His lack of knowledge was hoping to be reassured by the staff that his new friend would be taken care of when a health issue arose that made him very concerned. The young receptionist treated my father with no respect in her arrogance toward him. \r \r The following day I brought in my Siamese cat, Samantha, that has been with me for over twenty years. I have been to this clinic before and have never experienced such cockiness as to how the same receptionist acted toward me. I felt humiliated by her nasty comments and sarcasm. I was even more upset by Dr. Ray and his lack of concern for his diagnosis. Initially he stated that Samantha needed to be put to sleep in which I was distraught over. I was weeping uncontrollably and was told further test needed to be done. After an hour or so I was contacted and told that she had a severe bladder infection. In speaking with the doctor I had mention my concern about how they should have done the basic testing instead of informing me of the worst scenario. After a long conversation with the doctor on the phone I experienced an abrupt hangup. RUDE! I did not expect this from a professional. If anyone reads this please be made aware of what to expect. Cheapest doesn't mean good service. more

Best place in town. 12/28/2010

This place is awesome and I would gladly use them again. Dr. Whitney and vet tech Eric were both great with my large dog which was refreshing (previous vet at different clinic seemed clueless on how to handle him). They were always very thorough and took time to explain things, and they let us use the side door rather than having to tip-toe through toy dogs in the waiting room. Also, their prices on heartworm preventative always matched or beat anything I found online so got to love that! Only complaint is I wish they'd referred us to the specialist in Milwaukee sooner. Waiting for bloodwork results was a waste of time, but ultimately I don't think the outcome would have been any different. more

Very good care 9/10/2008

This is a drop-in office--you do not have to have an appointment. I realize that some folks to do care for that. However, over the years that we have been going to Belle City---and that is MANY--we have had sick animals that needed to be seen right away and they were. That is why I never mind having to sit and wait a bit when we do go in.\r \r I appreciate the care and kindness with which the animals are treated. The vets listen to you and take your wishes into account.\r \r Of course, having had so many animals over the years, the vets here have had to help us make the difficult decision to help our beloved pets pass. This was done with kindness and sensitivity and we talked about all other alternatives. \r \r I recommend the clinic. more

the only walk in clinic in town!!! Great 6/24/2005

This is the only walk in no need for an appointment clinic in town. You can walk in and see any vet in the buliding on your luch hour if it is not between the hours of 12 and 2 which is there lunch times. There are very personal and take time to answer your quesions. The office is big and the staff is large so they have many vets on staff. The prices can be high at times but the quialty of care is great. PROS: walk in care, no appointment needed CONS: long lunch hours more
