Best

I have had to opportunity and the privilege to dine at Georges Perrier's Le Bec Fin since I was young. My family has been going to Le Bec for as long as I can remember. It started...

Worst

The description on the menu did not relate to the actual courses themselves. The octopus was extremely well cooked and seasoned. The stuffed quail was well cooked but loaded wit...

A great special occasion dining experience 2/14/2006

I went there this past Valentine's Day (which you should make your reservation at least a month in advance!) and the food was delicious! Had the 9 course meal and overall, thought the food was very unique but I could barely eat it all! The dinner lasted about 2.5 hours! Probably would not go there again b/c of the price (for 2 people plus champagne and tip = $600!) but would recommend to go here at least once in your lives! Pros: Great service, Beautiful scenery, Great food Cons: Very VERY expensive more

Sneak in for lunch. 7/7/2005

Let me just said I have never had dinner here, but I had two of the best lunches ever. The tasting menu is incredible, but for a more fiscal fix do the $45 three course (app, entree, dessert which is as much as you want). The staff is at your beck and call to give you that ""emperor of Rome"" feeling I like to have when dining out. Pros: Regal setting, Food, Service Cons: Price more

French food in 1950 1/22/2005

Le Bec Fin is either a great or an average restaurant, depending on your viewpoint. For those who conceive of French food in a way that no longer exists in France -- think a one-star Parisian restaurant in 1950 -- Le Bec Fin is the perfect place. But for anyone else who has heard of nouvelle cuisine, this place -- like its decor -- is hyperbolic, over-hyped and over-creamed. Many have the simultaneous heaviness and over-contemplation that only a trained but dated chef could concoct. The one standout though are the desserts, which enter on a majestic trolley. If you can, go only for dessert! Pros: professional service, dessert trolley Cons: , stuffiness more

Pampered 12/22/2004

I try to get here at least twice a year and every time I literally float out of the building. The service is always impeccable and the place looks fantastic. The entrees are sublime and the desserts are as wonderful as they are plentiful. Furthermore the wine list is impressive with delineations made between appellations. It's a very civilized experience; one feels so pampered. more

A truly memorable experience 8/15/2004

I was treated to lunch here by a friend and I was really blown away. Everything was absolutely perfect, from the ample, crusty rolls to the attentive yet not overbearing service--and, of course, the food! If you're ever going to have escargot, this is the place to savor it. Be prepared to sample as many desserts as your stomach can handle and leave on a real sugar rush! Sure it's pricey but the lunch $45 three-course deal is actually not that bad. Just skip spending $15+ for a single glass of wine if you're on a budget (which was very good, but I'll pay that for a nice BOTTLE at home, thanks). If you really want to sample some of the best that Philly has to offer, you really have to go here at least once. Pros: food, atmosphere, service more

A date to remember 7/19/2004

I had the whole night planned out and I wanted to do this right. I have been to many great restaurants like antoin's and comanders palace and wanted to add Le Bec to the list. I went out and bought my lady a dress and made sure that we were the best dressed couple there and really made the experience an event. The food was decadent, and I left very satisfied. The bill I would gladly pay again for such a fine dining experience. This place is an amusement park for the taste buds! Pros: Food, Service, Wine Cons: , The entry way, The entry way more

OVER-RATED 6/24/2004

This has got to be the most overrated restaurant in history. The food here is good, not superior. The problem with this restaurant,as with most french restaurants,is that you could have a 9 course dinner,as i did,and still be hungry afterwards. Also, while some of the dishes were creative and stylish,it wasn't enough to overcome the outrageous prices Mr. Perrier charges for eating at his establishment. more

Perfection 2/11/2004

The only, and I stress only, disappointment with Le Bec Fin comes later in the evening. As a recent Sex in the City episode highlighted with Charlotte's decadent multi-course meal at what , Le Bec Fin's superb food causes your mind to ignore reason, and physical sensations, and continue to eat to the point of gluttony. My two times dining at Le Bec Fin are far too few in number and I look forward to many more meals there, even in spite of any discomfort my overeating there causes. Pros: service, lobster, ambience more

best dining experience ever 10/10/2003

Celebrated my birthday last spring with a great dinner experience at Le Bec Fin. It wasn't just the food OR the service, but the combination of superb food AND service made the experience truly great. Dover sole was the best! The atmosphere wasn't that romantic b/c you feel like you lined up against the wall, but still nice. Returned during the recent Restaurant Week. Not too impressed with the food b/c everything was too salty. Read in the paper that the Bar downstairs is continuing the 3-course dinner for $35 through October. I hope the quality of food does not suffer... more

simply the best 7/21/2003

it is always a supern experience at le bec fin. Bring plenty of $$$ for a gastronomic ride you wont forget. Pros: food, atmosphere, service more

definitely 5 stars 12/25/2002

It is by far the best in food, service and ambiance in the entire city! more

Not just Philadelphia's best 12/12/2002

Le Bec-Fin is clearly among the top five French restaraunts in the country if not the world. Elegant and tasteful without being ""over the top"". A wine list that rivals any public venue in the world. The food and service? It doesn't get better than this. There is no justice if their star isn't returned. The best place I can think of to max out your credit card and your belt. Pros: Reservation difficult, Wonderful menu, Spectacular wine list Cons: Reservation difficult, Awful valet parking, It isn't next door more

ELITE 12/12/2002

Excellent food and the service was superb!!!! 99% of the deserts were out of this world. Next time I will order something exquisite on the menu more

Great 12/12/2002

My wife and I enjoyed the total experience...our waiter not only spoke english but also french which truly enhanced our dinning more

Not All It's Cracked Up To Be 11/16/2002

I went to Le Bec yesterday for lunch because it was one of those things constantly on my to-do list. I read how Le Bec was promoted back to a 5 star rating this year after last year only getting 4 because of service...and in my mind, they shouldn't have re-gained that fifth. The waiters took about 15 minutes to bring us menus and our drinks came after our bread - I even had to remind the waiter about mine. I wouldn't recommend Le Bec to anyone - I have gotten better service at much less-expensive places. Yes, the food was good, but that's all I enjoyed. Pros: Dessert, Dessert, Dessert Cons: Waiters, Service more

standard of excellence 11/8/2002

The highest standard of excellence is Le Bec Fin. This is still the best dining experience in the country, if not the world. The taste and presentation of each course is highly satisfying. I have ever been disappointed and have marveled at the consistency of this restaurant. more

service is outstanding 10/20/2002

I had lunch at Le Bec Fin recently. We did not have reservations so we were seated in the bar area in the basement. The selection was ""bar food"" but not what you would expect. We had the appetizer sampler, a main course and the desert sampler. The bartender/waitress recommended a merlot whith our meal which was perfect with our meal. The service was impeccible. Afterwards, I asked to see the main dining room, the hostess put her phone call on hold to escort me into the dining area. The attention to the customers is amazing. My only fault with the restaurant is the wine list needs updating. Otherwise, I strongly recommend Le Bec Fin. Pros: service, staff more

Over rated 7/30/2002

I've been there twise, and I can't figure out what the big deal is. The experience was a bit blah for me. Servings are small and bland, not worth the $. Pros: popular Cons: rip off more

Dinant - Trés Incroyable 7/24/2002

My French is horrible. Hopefully I got the title right. Never before in my life have I had an experience like dining with Chef Perrier at Le Bec Fin. This is French dining as it has been for generations and as it should remain. Multiple courses, cheese, wine, desserts, the sommelier, the wait staff - Nothing short of perfection. Pros: atmosphere, great location, Georges Perrier Cons: expensive more

6.5 6/24/2002

I have been really disappointed with the restaurant over and over again. Happen to go there with our clients and every single time something is unpleasant. Definitely not the perfect service they claim. During our last visit my guest asked for some grapes (which were placed on the cheese cart) and the waiter replied with a rude NO! They are only for display, but I can give you some figs As it turned my guest was allergic to them, but the waiter did not care for that. I would discourage anyone who plans to go there, it is absolutely not the best value for the money. Moreover for the amount of money they charge they sure can afford to have different glasses for red and white wine. Right now you get your wine served on the same glass, regardless of red or white. Pros: good food Cons: service, very noisy, not friendly more
