Beauty Secrets

I recently visited this salon in Cypress and was not very impressed. The salon is attached to the owner's house which was confusing bc I didnt know what I was looking for. I had to re-check the address on my groupon deal just to make sure I wasnt parking in someones driveway. It's very small and old-fashioned. Some might think its ""cozy"" with it's cabin like feeling, but to me it just seemed low maintenance and dingy. The mother sat me in her chair with the previous customer's hair still all over the ground and in my feet. I was having to hop n tip toe around it to get to my seat. That should have told her I was uncomfortable with the random hair, but she didnt seem to care. She proceeds to cut my hair with small talk and in the middle decides to sit down while she'cs cuttign my hair. Now thats a first, but i guess every stylist has her style. I still wasnt thinking anything horrible until when she's done and ready to blow dry- I notice that she is using a paddle brush- FULL with someone else's hair. DISGUSTING! When I asked her to change brushes- she gave me an odd sigh and opened her drawer and pulled out another brush from a drawer full of what seemed like more unclean brushes. That's what really killed it for me. I just wanted her to finish so I could get out of this place. The cut didnt seem that great while she was cutting it cause she used one technique on one side and didnt mimic it on the other, but I am giving the place 2 stars for a semi-good cut. I wouldn't recommend this place nor go back. I guess you get what you pay for. Visible Changes- You got my business back! more

I am not the owner writing the review, but a longtime customer. My whole family (grandma, mom, and three children) are frequent customers and have been so for 7 years. We love the personal attention and the attention to detail. Diane and Jacque will work to make sure you are satisfied. They treat you like family. They are patient and willing to work with you. My whole family loves this shop and we are happy when we leave! more

I have been to many salons and hairdressers but I really enjoyed the atmosphere and how comfortable they made me feel, Like I was family. I was very happy with the highlights and the haircut I received. I could definitely tell they have alot of experience because I told her what I wanted and I got it. Very happy customer !!!!!!! more

I bought a groupon for cut and color and booked an appt in september. sat down and went thru books and picked a color that matched my current color (medium neutral brownish red) and toned down my brassy hair. 45 mins later i was looking at very dark black/purple/red disaster on my head. she (the daughter) used something to strip the color and while lots of it came out, the damage was done. came back after dinner, mom pulled me thru a cap and lifted out more color. still dark and unflattering. more

I've never trusted any salon, or hairsylest with coloring my hair. I normally use a box color and just do it myself, but I have been noticing that my hair's condition has been getting more and more worse. I decided I would get a cut and ended up walking out with a new hairstyle I am in love with! Diane talked me into pulling out my natural color (my color was bleach blonde, my natural was dirty blonde). I got low-lights done, like I said before I've never let anyone besides myself touch my hair. I am amazed at the ending result in my hair. It looks healthier, and it brings out my eyes. I am a teenager so image is everything for me, therefore if you want the best treatment/results I would suggest Beauty Secrets. I will be going back to become a regular customer, good bye boxed color! more

I too bought a Groupon to Beauty Secrets. I'm one of those people who write reviews to everything and everywhere I go. I love my hair. It's been almost 5 years since I put color on it so I was a little hesitant about doing so, but Jackie went through the magazines and brochure of colors to help me pick out what color would be best for me. She cut 4 inches off of my hair and I let her blow dry it and then style it. She showed me how to style it on my own. I will return for my next color and cut. more

Easily the worst haircut I've had in my life. I went here because they featured a deal on Groupon, $13 for a women's haircut, and the salon is near my house. They had a five star rating on City Search.... Which now, I can only assume was mostly made up of reviews written mostly by family, friends, and/ or the owners themselves. The stylist who cut my hair never actually introduced herself to me, so I don't know her name, but she's the one on the left in the picture. I walked in with a printed page in hand of the exact haircut I wanted... A simple, slanted, long bob... Longer in front than in the back, without any layering. NOTHING about this very basic haircut should have been difficult for anyone with a pair of sharp scissors to create, let alone a trained cosmetologist. The page I brought in had not one but FOUR clear pictures of the cut I wanted, all from different angles. I specifically pointed out the picture showing the side of the cut to the stylist before she cut my hair, and explained that it was exactly the degree of slant I was looking for. She must have only barely glanced at the pictures. She definitely was not concerned with replicating the look with any accuracy. Within about 12 minutes of shampooing my hair, she was done. I walked out with a completely straight bob, without any detectable slant whatsoever, that was a good two-and-a-half inches shorter in the front than the cut in the picture. (The front of the model's hair grazed her collarbone, mine is now just beneath my chin.) My husband says my hair actually looks longer in the back than in the front. The stylist seemed to realize once she was done that she hadn't done anything close to what I asked for, so she made a comment about how if I get home and decide I don't like it to just call her and she'll change it. All I could think was, ""You already hacked off inches more than I asked you to.... There's no way I'm trusting you to 'fix' it."" I hurried out of there before she could even blow dry my hair. You get what you pay for, I guess. more

If you like good ol' southern hospitality, then you will love Beauty Secrets! I moved to Houston from California and found Beauty Secrets online. From the moment I called, I knew they were the salon for me! They were patient, helpful, and kind. . .and went out of their way to make sure my first experience was an enjoyable one. (They even worked with my hairdresser back home to make sure my color was formulated just right!) I've been going to them for 2 years now and have nothing but praise for their service. If you are looking for a salon, Beauty Secrets is the place for you! :) Pros: Hair and Facials all in one location! Cons: Because you look so good, your family may not recognize you! more

I found Beauty secrets on City Search went in and told her what I wanted as far as my color and cut and she did a wonderful job. I was very happy and they were very nice and friendly. I have since had my mom have her hair done there and she was also happy with her results. I would highly recommend this shop to anyone. Pros: Best Hair color & Cut in town more

It seems to me after reading these 2 very vinomous reviews, that they were written by the same person(note how similar they are) ,to use her own words.. If your selfconfidence can be distroyed because your bangs are too short..... Well, this could become ONLINE WAR. Get a life honey...Beauty Secrets has been in business for 20 years, and I doubt your nasty remarks will hurt them.. We all know beauty is skin deep and ugly is to the bone..Nasty attitudes..Well my dear you have one.... . Pros: Reasonable prices, Very friendly stylists thumbs up!!! more

They are all TOO good and sound basically the same with the same writing style. I know the owners will read this and say, ""Shoot, they are on to us"" and then try to change it up. Don't be fooled. I will NEVER go anywhere again based off reviews from CitySearch because my experience at Beauty Secrets was so terrible. Resort to the old methods and get a recommendation from a friend. I would avoid Beauty Secrets at all costs. They ruined my hair. Fortunately, it will grow back in 6 months to a year but in the meantime...thanks alot (that is sarcasm). =( Cons: Everything more

Diana at Beauty Secrets has been curling my hair for 2 years. My hair is perfect when Diana gives me my body waves. Not too curly...Just right..Their Salon is so comfortable, you feel like home .It's nice to find a Salon that is not so pretencious. It reminds me of my Aunt Agnus' Salon, I grew up going to. Every one was so happy to be there,and left looking BEAUTIFU!!!! I recommend Beauty Secrets to my friends, and they have been very satisfied.They do great work.. The children toys in the corner give the place an atmosphere of family, and they're also a great touch for the customers with children. It's very hard to know /exactly/ what a person wants in a haircut, or /exactly/ how their hair works. It takes a good stylist one or two tries to know those two things. Jacque and Diana, however, come very close to knowing both of those things. When I first came to Beauty Secrets, Jacque was the one who cut my hair. She asked me what I wanted to do with my hair, made a few suggestions(which I greatly appreciated later), and she went to work. The finished product was exactly what I wanted. Both of these women have hair-styling down to an art form. Their prices are very reasonable for their quality of work, and I was very happy with my hair after I went to Beauty Secrets. This establishment really is one of Houston's finer hair salons, and as a customer who has been going there for years, I'm sure you will be satisfied.
