This store leaves alot to be desired. Let me start from the beginning.
I occasionally drive through the Atlanta area for business trips. In *January* 2010 I visited a couple bead stores within the Atlanta area. And I chose to stop at the Beads After Beads store because an online ad claimed they were going out of business and everything in the store was half off. This was confirmed by an employee as well.
Some stuff had good prices, others not. Anywhere from $200 for a single strand of beads to about a dollar for 1 necklace clasp. It was and still is VERY disorganized. 9 out of 10 times you will not find a price for anything anywhere. Then there are huge clumps of stringed beads thrown into a pile on shelving so you basically have to sit on the floor to sort through beads... then you can find no prices and they're all tangled up and / or broken etc. These are not big issues for me and not anything I would mind but I DID notice these problems.
2nd visit it was still exactly the same. Except once I got home I noticed the string of Opals I paid an arm and a leg for, many were chipped and unusable =/
Today (june 2nd) I went for my 3rd visit to this store. It has been 6 months since my first visit and *THEY ARE NOT GOING OUT OF BUSINESS* In fact, they were expanding the store! My main purpose for this visit was to bring my mother-in-law with me and show her the variety available in the US (since she is visiting us from Germany and just started an interest in jewelry making)
They have one section for seed beads with a single sign that reads very similar to ""charlotte bunches = $5 and 10/0 seed bead bunches = $3"" I picked out 2 bunches of seed beads and 4 pairs of screw back earrings. The lady behind the counter proceeded to tell me I would be charged $10 for 1 bunch of seed beads and $3 for the other. But I said that's not what the sign reads. She took me back to the section and said ""these are special beads cause they are metallic shiny looking, they're special at $10 each, the others here are $3 and $5"" I picked out a different bunch that was supposed to be $3 and took it back with me to the counter.
She proceeded to charge me $13 for 2 seed bead bunches that were supposed to cost $3 each. We went back over everything again and it was finally agreed they should each be $3. Then the lady unpacked the 4 pairs of earrings that I wished to purchase. I picked one up from the counter to show my mother in law these earrings since they're somewhat unusual. The lady behind the counter snatched it out of my hand and said ""dont do that"". Don't do what???????? Look at something that *I* am in the process of paying for?? Excuse me?? I stood in shock, I couldn't believe it!
That's it, I'm NOT going anywhere near this store again. They are way overpriced, have made numerous false advertisements that they're going out of business, with a 50% off sale they will ONLY honor if you question them about it, try to rip you off at the counter, and RUDE customer service.
Nope nada never going back there again. There are plenty of other bead shops within the Atlanta area, save yourself the hassle. I know I will.
Pros: Mention their 50% off sale and you MIGHT get a discount!
Cons: Overpriced, Disorganized, No price tags, Rude Service
