Our staff is a group of dedicated, passionate individuals who are USA Gymnastics Members, Safety/Risk Management Certified, Fundamental of Gymnastics Certified, and Professional Development Trained. Many of our staff members also have early childhood development experience, teaching credentials, and special needs experience. Please visit our staff page to meet them! Our facility is AWESOME! We have equipment that is specialized for all sizes and skill levels, be they preschool age children just learning to walk or advanced competitive gymnasts working on double back flips. We are centrally located with easy freeway access, only 15 minutes or less from the following cities: Alameda, Berkeley, Castro Valley, Emeryville, Hayward, Oakland, San Leandro and San Lorenzo! Historically, Bay Island has been offering recreational classes and advanced classes for children and adults since we originally opened as Alameda Gymnastics in the Alameda Theatre in 1984. Alameda Gymnastics was then purchased by a great gal who renamed it Bay Island Gymnastics in 1994. After being a celebrity on the island and operating the gym for 10 years she passed the baton to the current owner. In late 2004, we relocated to our current facility in Oakland. Although technically off the island, we are still in a very convenient location only minutes from our previous location, just on the other side of the Fruitvale Bridge. BIG staff, gymnasts and parents give our facility a perfect 10.00!.
