Take tons of pictures and video upon move and move out. They will charge you fees for everything that you cleaned. Yet when you move in changes are the place wasn't even clean to begin with. more

Here's my experience from moving out of a Barr apartment. First they will show your apartment at a preset time (1pm daily) and will tell you that they will show it any day without previous notice. They will just show up. Every day you will sit around and wonder if you have a knock on your door from Barr wanting to show your apartment to people. I felt like I had no privacy at all. This lasted at least 2 months. Before moving out they give you a move out checklist. I followed this to the letter and went above and beyond and was charged $377 out of $650 for CLEANING! In my Google web albums, please decide for yourself. If it wasn't for my photo's, I would not have received a dime back from Barr. In total, I settled on a refund of all but about $70 from Barr because I was simply worn out from arguing with them. If you are a current resident of Barr please protect yourself and take video, pictures, or have them walk the apartment with you! If you are considering renting from Barr, please look at my cleaning photos and then see what I was charged for after moving out. This is not an uncommon example, as you can see from other reviews. Once again Barr maintenance was quick to respond and came with heat guns to thaw out my pipes and fixed the damage that had happen to my neighbors apartment because he turned his heat off. more

loved the apt: great location, in-unit w/d (a plus), was affordable, spacious & clean. i rented from other management companies on campus, and had such a great experience with barr. never had any serious maintenance issues (just an overractive fire alarm), they were responsive, and had a very friendly/helpful office staff. great experience overall. more

The place I had was pretty nice and a good price. I did not stay long enough to see if the rent increased. The parking lot is sufficient, but the spots are marked a little small, often a tight fit. I seldom heard the neighbors, except the ones that were trying to annoy me. The management seemed pretty good to me. I only needed something from them once and they took care of it right away. I never had any other problems, the place seemed rather well maintained. Overall I would reccomend it for college students that want to be far enough away from campus to avoid the noise there. more

We loved our apartment at 705 W. Church St. in Champaign. It is walking distance to downtown and the cheapest apartment that we found for the size and location. Our apartment had just been remodeled before we moved in so it had new carpet, tile and bathroom fixtures. more
