The Chef and his staff create dishes as close to Piemonte as one can get highlighting fresh seasonal dishes featuring the truth of the food. Hot things are served hot and cold dishes are served cold. The Italian wine list is superb, and the wait staff is very knowledgeable regarding the food and wine menus with their passion for both enhanced by trips to Italy. These people LIVE Italian wine and food. Did you know they take the entire staff (including the valet) to Italy every year for 2 weeks? If you love Italy, this is as close as you're going to get in Denver! more

Very expensive with a long wait. If you have a lot of time, carry a lot of cash and like a combination of ""Casual"" and ""Fine Dinning"" for an evening dinning experience, it's worth the long wait on the weekends for a table. Have seen reviews go both ways on Barolo. As for us, we had a wonderful evening. Selected their fixed price dinner that included salad, appetizers, entree selections and desert. It also included a small glass of wine paired for the selection. If you've ever had difficulty selecting a bottle of wine with different entrees and appetizers, etc. this is a great way to go. The food was wonderful as was the wine selections. Ambience was fine...we were seated in one of the booths and that was certainly a preference. Observed a wide variety of patrons outfitted in everthing from shorts to dresses and jackets and kids in tow.(Colorado is still Colorado). After all of the hoopla about Barolo's, I was extremely, EXTREMELY disappointed in the overall quality of food for the price, service, and ambiance. Customers are packed in like cows waiting to be slaughtered so the entire place was extremely noisy. Waitstaff took 20 minutes to refresh drink orders, food orders were slow to arrive, and friendliness was absent. Food was mediocre for the price - go to Pagliacci's for some REAL Italian in a REAL Italian atmosphere for local flare, and Maggianos or Buca de Beppo for the chain fare. We arrived at 7:30 and the manager was very friendly and nice. However, the server was unusually slow. The server left our dinner plates in front of us fro 40 minutes while we watched him walk aound the restaurant. AND, he didn't even bother to give us bread. Needless to say, I was very disappointed in the service and feel that for the cost of the food, you should get not only a good meal, but a great server. We went to Barolo Grill for my birthday and had the fixed price menu with wines. It was phenomenal. Although the wrong entree was brought out for me, they made up for this by serving me an extra glass of wine and serving us both some palate-cleansing sorbet while we were waiting. Overall the service, food and atmosphere were excellent. I would highly recommend this restaurant for any special occasion. more
