Barnes and Noble 5/22/2011

I was browsing at Barnes and Noble on a Saturday night and I was kind of aimlessly browsing through the tables of books, when suddenly I realized I left my phone when I went to pick up a book. Panicked, I retraced my steps to all the book sections I went to - and this involved going up and down the escalators to three different floors. Finally, I got back to square one, and just asked someone at customer service. Luckily, they had it behind the counter - thank goodness nobody was mean enough to steal a cell phone here! So, for this incident alone, I am eternally grateful to the staff here.??Anyway, as far as the store goes, I really like it. It is way better layout-wise than Borders in Penn Station because there's a lot more room. more

Reading is Fun 5/21/2011

With todays ease of technology, I rarely go out and buy as many books as I used to. Nevertheless, Barnes and Noble continues to be one of my favorite passtimes. I love browsing through their collections of books. And I like to see which is the next book that I want to get my mind wrapped around. Though I have been reading all my books in the last 3-4 years in PDF format, I still find myself buying that book that I feel like I must have in hard copy. I also find myself buying a lot of childrens books. more

I also find myself buying a lot of childrens books.\r \r I stopped by over the weekend and enjoyed a muffin while reading one of their books off the shelf, for free, at the café. This location has a very small café, but nine times out of ten I have gotten a seat there. So, I will say thats cool. I also enjoy going to the 2nd floor, after walking through the maze of displays towards the front area. They have a great space to read to children on the 2nd floor. My little one loves coming here and enjoys hours of reading as well. \r The staff at more

best bookstore in nyc 5/14/2006

This is the best bookstore in NYC. Located in Union Square, it is around the NYU campus. They have five floors of books. Its like a library. Great atmosphere. They have a cafe on the second floor which is quiet to study and relax. I was able to find almost every book i needed. The prices are average, I can find books at cheaper prices at amazon. You can also save by enrolling for their membership card which have an annual fee but worth it if you buy a lot of books in a year. more

Barnes & Noble at Astor Place 7/23/2005

This Barnes & Noble is much smaller and quieter than the other B&N chains in the city, which is preferable in my opinion. The staff, however, has been quite rude at times. Still, there's never a crowd and always a quiet corner to enjoy the books. The selection of books on NYC here is most impressive. If you are new to the city and looking to stock up on these--or a tourist a bit lost--this is a good spot, with NYC travel books I haven't seen anywhere else. The bargain books in the basement floor are also often a quite varied selection for good prices. more

Quiet spot in a noisy neighborhood 5/24/2005

The Astor Place Barnes and Noble is surprisingly quiet, and usually fairly empty, even in the busiest seasons. This Barnes and Noble is also slightly smaller than many of the others, but still has three floors for your reading pleasure. more
