and how many times you do get a book with a gift receipt? I never had. I received one book I didn't want, best-seller yet, brought it there and was told they no longer let you do an exchange or get a credit unless there is a receipt. The manager on duty was a bit snotty about it too. I guess I'll be shopping more at Borders down in Sherman Oaks, even though I do have some Barnes and Noble Gifts cards, so will use them. more

this store is a parent store to barnes and noble and even though it is in a restored movie theatre (very cool to look at) and there are book signings there alot...the merchandise is a little more expensive and I would just recommend going to borders books where the prices are more reasonable. more

Nice store in a remodled old movie theatre with ticket booth still in front. Parking in back but you have to walk thru alley way to get around. Parking on Ventura is tough but you can get lucky sometimes. Teachers sign up for your teacher discount card to get 20% off all items for your classroom. They are great for looking up a book you cant find on their computer system. IF they dont have the book, the usually can order it and will call you when it comes in and they will let you knwo how long it will take. Nice magazine section in back of store. Great childrens section that I used to bring my dauther to and little table and chairs for sitting to read. Front of store has a large selection of sale items and a BATHROOM in front also for customers! I admit I have sometimes ducked in here for a quick bathroom stop if I am on their block. more

Bookstar has a an expansive collection of books across a variety of categories. Their prices remain competitive with the corporate chains of the world. The store is easy to find and parking is relatively abundant. Grab a cup of coffee and spend an afternoon! more
