It's true that B&N has an extensive collection of books. If every local mom and pop store had millions of dollars from investors, they could afford strip mall storefronts with thousands of square feet to stock all the books ever written, too. Nevermind the fact that any independent shop will special order anything you need and can usually have it within a week. Nothing special about the B&N members program, either. Most independent stores offer a similar frequent buyers program as well. And a Starbucks as a selling point? Give me a break. There is no difference b/t Wal-Mart and Barns & Noble in my mind. They're both killing the local retailer, taking money out of the community and promoting a lazier America. more

A Store to Shop and Relax 7/31/2005

Barnes and Noble is a great place o shop for books. They have a huge selection, including, children's, adults novels, cookbooks, travel, educational, and more. You can go into the store and shop and feel relaxed. You can even sit and enjoy a cup of coffee from Star Bucks while you read. more

Books for Everyone 7/31/2005

Barnes and Noble is a good place to go if you are looking for a gift or just like to read. They have so many different categories, each easy to find, that there really is something for everyone there. They are not to over priced either. more

Books and Starbucks -- what a combination! 7/13/2005

Despite the doomsayers prophesies that books would eventually fade away in this digital age, people still like to touch and smell the real thing. This store allows you to do that in great comfort. Tables and chairs, deep lounge chairs, and benches are all scattered around the store to make your experience last as long as you'd like. My favorite experience is to spend some time finding the books that I want; then wander over to the Starbucks counter for a cup of hot tea and a scone to enjoy while I page through my new purchases. PROS: Using their computers, the staff can help you find any book in the store CONS: Prices are higher than discount stores -- get a Membership Card to save 10% more
