For years my family has been shopping at The Barn Furniture for solid wood furniture and now we’re even more thrilled! We were there last week and saw that they now have incredibly gorgeous quarter-sawn solid oak tables that can open up to serve around 22 people. I think the largest one I saw was 48” wide by 84” long, with TWELVE leaves! And most of their merchandise is American made. I’ve been looking all around for American made Solid Wood—no MDF or particle board—but can’t find it anywhere else. Other stores have a lot of Chinese imports. Bedsides our new dining room set, I bought some less expensive items for our guest room. They’re also solid wood.\r \r My friend came with me and bought a fantastic upholstered gliding rocker and everything for his home office, including a desk, a sofa, an office chair, and two lamp tables. He also bought a Mission Style bedroom set there. Barn Furniture is not the cheapest store around, but their quality is top notch. \r \r They gave us our choice in wood, color, size and style and a nice discount. I've been ""shopping"" here for years and today it occured to me that i've NEVER bought anything from them. reasons why: what they show on their website is NEVER what they have in stock, what they DO have is way over priced (RESEARCH ONLINE PEOPLE!) So, if you don't know what you want and are willing to settle and pay a premium, this is the place for you. all they have is mission, mission, mission...which is nice but way overused and trendy and uncomfortable. the service is lazy also. We just bought a table, buffet & hutch and chairs today... and while we haven't received the order yet (4-12 weeks for delivery), my husband and I were thoroughly impressed with the GREAT customer service. We went in a few weeks ago to browse, and the owner spent a while with us talking through options... no pressure AT ALL. After shopping around (and we went through many stores, retail and Internet), we went back to the Barn, because we KNEW this furniture would last us a lifetime. GREAT customer service, great selection and they worked with us on pricing because we bought several pieces... we can hardly wait for delivery! We have purchased many pieces of furniture from The Barn over the years; they have always had quality pieces and fantastic customer service. We've also passed the word around and told many of our family and friends. However, the customer service has lately been rapidly declining with the prices going on a sharp incline. One particular example is when we had our last straw a few weeks ago. We were looking to buy a desk, and went about 1 month prior just to look at prices. The one that I liked was $600, on sale and for $400. However, we didn't have our big car to fit it. So, we decided to come back the next weekend with our truck and buy it then. As my husband and I were discussing what to do the gentlemen that worked there said, ""you better buy it now b/c this is our last one, we aren't making anymore, and it will be gone by next week."" My husband and I knew he was just trying to make a sale right away, and was not being truthful. We were disappointed, but we liked the desk. When we went back, the exact same desk was of course there, and was now marked at $1000, on sale for $650. What!!! I asked the gentlemen who was there that day, ""What happened? Everything seems priced very high."" (we were also looking for a hutch). His response, ""we've changed, now we make our products with real oak."" Excuse Me! What were you making your furniture with last week???? We walked right out of the store and will now NEVER return. There are plenty more places to buy nice quality furniture around here that actually deserves business. My prediction, If The Barn doesn’t change their approach towards customer service they will be closed within 1 year. Pros: Good Selection Cons: HORRIBLE customer service and very high prices. more

The furniture seem well made and the prices are decent, but don't plan on getting what you order in a timely manner. We called to order furniture for our new home in February. We were told they had it, no problem, it could be shipped in two days and we should just wait until March to order it. We then ordered it in early March to be delivered to the new home. Here it is May and we STILL don't have the damn furniture. We had house guests that got to sleep on the floor or a sofa since these people can't seem to deliver what they promised in a timely manner.\r \r The item they thought they had in stock was mislabeled or some such nonsense and we've been waiting for a VERY slow boat from China or someplace for months.\r \r When I attempted to see if they provide a discount on the shipping to compensate for their delay it was a big ""NO"". Most places like Amazon will give you free shipping when there is a big delay. Trust me if Amazon had a similar piece of furniture I'd have it by now!\r \r Personally I'd take my business else where, but I was over ruled.\r \r So if you like extremely poor to non-existent customer server, then this is the place for you!
