Good Wine bar - so so restaurant 5/26/2010

I took my one and only trip to Bari on a night when it was not so busy and the atmosphere was calm. I was on a date and am a vegetarian so I asked if some of the menu items could be altered a bit to acommodate (ex. leave out ham). After the waiter went to put in our order, he came back and I was told that they were not able to change any of the menu items because the chef ""thought it would ruin the integrity of his dish""..... I asked for one item to be left off of a salad. Needless to say it was a bad experience. Not to mention that the portions are sized like tapas but priced like gourmet entrees. Not worth it - there are plenty of other restaurants to choose from. Sidenote - if you just go to the bar for wine and cheese expect a great time and good wine. Pros: Great Wine Bar Cons: Chef unreasonable - ok food for $$$ more

Great food, Great Service, Very Reliable 8/21/2008

I have dined here on several occasions and have left happy every time. Our waiter (Hunter) knows the menu and always has great suggestions. The wine list is extensive as well as the cheese selection. I am not an expert on either but with advice from Hunter I have never been disapointed. It can be a bit pricy but is worth it in my opinion. My favorite dish is the ahi tuna as well as the speghetti carbonara. We will return again and again. Pros: Great authentic Italian dishes, delightful service more

not so great 4/6/2008

was at this restaurant on 4/5/08 about 8:30 PM. Cheese course: Not enought different types of cheeses, portions were ""weak"" . Waiter tried to upsell everything. Salad was different, but not spectacular. Main courses ok, but not great. Nice wine selection. Expensive for what it is.......about average at best. I would not go back. Pros: not many Cons: too many for this short space more

Best Italian 9/10/2006

The atmosphere is very nice and the service is excellent (you don't find service like this in Memphis very often). They have a great selection of wines and cheeses. The plates are small and simple, but delicious!! Very authentic italian food. Pros: Excellent service, parking, authentic cuisine Cons: expensive more

Delicious & Authentic! 12/26/2004

Our dinner at Bari was simply delightful. The plates are smaller so you can order more courses. The eggplant fritters and cheese platter are a great way to start. Our entrees were fish and steak, which were both well made. Be sure to ask for a table in the center of the room, as the other tables may be drafty on a cold night. Service was very attentive. Pros: Fresh, Simple, Delicious more

Ecclectic Asian Influenced Restaurant 11/18/2002

Elegant and Ecclectic Great asian influenced dishes. Dishes had a wonderful presentation. The restaurant is quaint in size, so large groups may be an issue. This is a positive for dates. A must visit in the midtown area. The halibut dish was wonderful! It is easy to miss this restaurant as it has a small front entrance on Copper. I passed it several times before I found it. Pros: asian spcies, presentation Cons: parking, easy to miss more
