Barbara Forgione Salon

Barbara is a savior! I am new to the area, recently moving here few months ago from NYC. I was in search for a hairdresser to touch up my roots. I had been hesitant to get my hair done in a new area, especially coming from an area like NYC, but my roots needed touching up. I first decided to try a salon closer to where I live - BIG mistake. They completely trashed the color of my hair, did not know how to fix it. I was devastated. After a quick search online I decided I'd drive about 40 min out of the way to give Barbara a try. She squeezed me into her schedule and was more than accommodating to help me. She listened to what I wanted and was very knowledgeable and professional in offering her opinion on how to salvage the color. Her confidence and demeanor calmed me instantly and I knew I was going to be ok! She managed to fix the mess and I left feeling beautiful. There were other women getting their hair done while I was there and all of their color and cuts looked fabulous. I will definitely be going back AND referring my friends. Thank you Barbara! more

I had an appointment with Barbara for High lites. It was my first time in and I was rudely awakened by pepto bismol tacky pink walls, Dusty furntiture, unswept hair everywhere, loud talking, stylists and even Barbara on their cell phones right in front of other clients! I told Barbara that I wanted high lites that were not orange or red toned. She then told me she was going to the back to mix up then I see her in the mirror on the computer searching the internet, it was atleast about ten minutes before she went to the back to mix the color. The whole application process was so uncomfortable, her phone kept going off, she was yelling at her staff across the small cluttered salon, and she just gave off the worst energy, I could not wait for it to be over. When it was time to be rinsed I had to wait even longer to be rinsed out since they only have 2 sinks for 5 stylists. She had another girl rinse me and put a glaze on, which I found out later costed me $30, along with having to pay for a blowdry!!! All and all my hair came out an orange tone which she told me was warm not orange. I even overheard her insulting an existing client and telling her how bad her hair was and how florescent it was! I had gone to another salon to darken my blonde hair. I told him "no black, no burgandy, just med auburn". I walked out with black hair with burgandy undertones. HORRIBLE!!! I cried for 2 days straight. I was afraid to ask him to fix my hair, so I looked elsewhere. I found Vicky at this salon. She was not ony very sympathetic, she was extremely knowledgeable about hair color. Although she could not completley remove the color w/o frying it, she highlighted it in a way tht it is now a beautiful rich chocolate brown. I wish I had gone to her first, I am sure I would have gotten what I wanted to begin with. GO TO THIS SALON! I have never had this level of service, and their prices are more than reasonable. I went to see Vicky for a trim and style. I had long, thick, wavy, brown hair. I left with chopped, thinned, overly curled hair. I told her that I did not want my hair so overly curly and I was unhappy with the style. She said she couldn't help me that she had to pick up her daughter. So I left with the worst hair cut and style of my life. I called the next day to see if Vicky had time to fix it then...I was told she was booked solid. But the girl who answered the phone said she could fix it. She was evidently new because my hair looked frizzy and tangled after she "styled it" AND she charged me (for a hair fix?!). It will take me a year to grow it out so it looks as good as it did before I went to this salon. Very disappointed in the service and atmosphere...especially after reading all the positive reviews. I have lived in Tampa Bay for almost 14 years and have shopped around at many of the higher end salons. Most often I felt intimidated, paid a lot of money for my color & cut, and bought cupboards full of products that didn't work for my hair. I never felt especially pretty, or got much attention. I moved here from NY area where there are high end salons and master trained stylists and colorists. After reading the reviews on this salon and it being in Tampa, I was expecting a NY style experience and quality. What I got instead was a little hole in the wall strip mall salon out in the boondock lowend of the suburbs. I shouldve turned around then. Suffice it to say I walked in with glorious hair and walked out with chopped up fruit stripped gum looking hair after a draining five hour stay. Not to mention they made me sign a waiver before the color saying it is not an exact science and the results may not be as I hope. Ill say. They must have made those up after many people complained this is not what I wanted. I usually go to Zoku salon in NY/NJ and you can not beat it, you leave looking like a movie star like it or not. Hair as silky and bouncy and healthy as they come. Champagne is served and the colorist, cutter amd stylist are not all one and the same, everyone has there expertise. Now my hair is ruined, will take a good year to get it back to the way it was. more

Barbara Forgione Salon outshines all other salons! You simply can't go wrong by allowing by going here. Going to get my hair done used to be a "chore" and just something that had to be done and not really something to look forward to. Those days are gone! Peggy is very skillful & attentive. Barbara is the best colorist anywhere -bar none. Jai is a real treasure with his personality and skills. All stylists are top notch!! Wonderful friendly atmosphere for all age ranges. more

Barbara rescued me from constantly covering up my gray roots! I desperately wanted to get off the monthly merry-go-round of coloring my roots and just let them grow, but did not want the gray grow-out look. Barbara incorporated some beautiful fine white streaks in my hair that allowed for a nice and natural blend. I couldn't be more pleased! more

I have been going to Barbara's salon for years and would recommend her salon to everyone. Every stylist is personable and always willing to help you leave looking your best. Missy does an amazing job on my hair and has given me options with my hair that I never had before. She did the Deva treatment on my hair and I can now go from my normally straight style to curly in one washing. In this Florida humidity, not something I could have ever pulled off without Missy's help. more

Over the years, I've had a lot of good cuts-and a lot of bad ones. This time, I really did my homework before stepping into Barbara Forgione's salon. My research really paid off! Vicky was very attentive to my needs and gave me useful feedback and suggestions. I walked in with dead ends and "horse hair syndrome" and left with silky-soft, touchable tresses. The cut was precise and flattering- Vicky is an expert with her scissors! I made an appointment to go back for ombre highlights. Can't wait! :) more

I know I'm going against the grain here but I was really let down by this salon. I made an appointment after reading all the great comments. I had Peggy and got the deva cut. My hair wasn't as curly as it normally is when i went in so that may be part of the problem. It turned out very choppy and is longer than I wanted, I feel like I paid $95 for a not-so-great trim. When she was finishing, she said she knew it was longer than I wanted but I could just come back in 6 weeks. But i have no desire to pay another 100 buck, when it should have been done better the first time. more

Saturday was my first trip to the Barbara Forgione Salon and it won't be my last! All of the staff was so friendly and helpful. I received an awesome haircut and after seeing Barbara with Hair Flair, I decided to get a few strands myself. I was worried that my conservative work environment might not approve; however, everyone has had nothing but great things to say about them. They all think it is the coolest thing ever, and being fond of everything sparklely, I just adore them, they are so much FUN!!! more

When I showed up at Barbara Forgione's Salon my once pretty blonde hair had turned a brassy, orange color that was such an embarrassment I almost didn't want to meet anyone new. After years of over-bleaching and a stylist who never really looked at what was good for me, my hair was stringy and straggly to the point I thought I was going bald and would need hair transplant surgery. I was really nervous but Barbara spent so much time with me that I took the plunge and let her work her magic. more

I have been searching for the right cut AND highlight for my fine, damaged, frizzy, want-to-be-long hair. Now, thanks to Vickie, my hair has soft curl with just the right balance of highlight and lowlights (which I've never been able to achieve)!!! more

It was the evening of Dec. 23rd and after cutting hair all day, Peggy kindly let me come in so she could fix a botched haircut I got at another salon. She is meticulous and did an amazing job! So much so that I went back after Christmas and she gave me a hair smoothing treatment to help my hair look longer. It's been a couple of weeks and my haircut still looks great. more

I was in desperate need of someone fixing the color that Tony & Guy's people had me believing was my eyes misleading me or the lighting in the salon that had the roots of my hair looking red and different from the rest of my hair. I was new to this area and was looking for a good colorist and stylist. I have curly hair with lots of gray. A friend had highly recommended Tony & Guy so after the first dissatisfaction I thought I would give them another chance, however same result with a different colorist! I was not happy. I searched online and found Barbara's salon read the reviews on color and curly hair and had to try it. I couldn't believe the color transformation. I had my natural color back again. I was very happy with the minimal highlights they put in it as well. Vicky and Barbara both worked on my hair and it came out perfect. If you need a salon to fix the color that other salons have not been getting right I encourage you to try this salon out, you wont be disappointed =) more
