Best Spanish food ever! 1/3/2010

So I decided to go here with my husband for dinner tonight, just for something different. Having been to Spain and loving the food in Barcelona, I thought this would be fun to try. As you may know, there are very few Spanish restaurants in LA, and none of them exceptional. Until today. Their short ribs, and the stuffed Quail will blow your mind. Calamari, and flatbread with 3 sausages, empenadas...plus the best Sangria outside of Spain ever! Yum yum! My husband and I have literally travelled all over the world, and been to some really amazing places. Honestly, this is in the top 10. It was fun, romantic, and great for people watching(depending where you sit). I highly recommend it. Enjoy! Pros: Incredible Spanish food, nice decor, fun music! Cons: a bit of a drive from West LA (but so worth it!) more

Great place to waist a lot of money 3/14/2008

Ok, I'm going to tell it like it is, no BS. I use to love that place, but after the last chef left, the food just went down hill. Not only did the food quality go bad, but the price went up? Maybe the restaurant should be run by real Spanish owners who take pride and quality in authentic Spanish cuisine, instead of the Chinese owners they have now, who only care about profit and just don't know anything about Spanish food. Let me ask this, would you really want to eat at a authentic Chinese restaurant owned by non Chinese owners??? That's the honest truth. Pros: The scene and ambience Cons: The food and price more

Don't listen to the other review --Great service and Good food! 12/28/2007

Alright so after reading a bunch of review for Bar Celona...I almost cancelled my reservation and went somewhere else. I'm very glad I didnt! First of all, the service was awesome! We arrived 30 minutes early and the hostess suggested we have a seat at the bar and she would get us as soon as a table opens up. We had a white and red sangria at the bar and tried a couple tapas. Everything was delicious. Of course, you're not going to get the same flavors and feeling as you do at a restaurant in Spain. The bar waiter was very nice and answered all our questions. The food came out quick and was presented very well. We were seated at exactly our reservation time. The waittress did not come to our table for several minutes and I began to think - maybe the reviews were right. The hostess noticed that were still sitting there and came over. She was very apologetic and offered to take our order and even suggested a few items off the menu. The waitress came over with our food and apologized for not seeing us. The rest of the night was perfect. Very friendly and quick service, always with a smile and no attitudes. The food was good and, in my opinion, not over priced. This is not an inexpensive restaurant but definitely not "over priced" as some others have mentioned. Bottom line: food was good, service was great and I am very happy that I didn't listen to the other reviews. more

Expensive Tapas, Average Service 12/18/2007

Their menu seems to be overpriced, especially for the tapas, but I guess you could blame that on the location. The interior design is dark and moody, which sets a nice tone, but the food doesn't really follow through. We tried to the tapas platter and enjoyed the empanadas especially, but we were disappointed in the other things we ordered. The salad was drenched with raspberry vinaigrette and the seafood paella was very salty and not that special. Pros: Nice Decor Cons: Overpriced more

delish! 9/30/2007

My mom and I were roaming around Colorado Blvd and randomly stopped in because of how delicious a womans Sangria that she was drinking on the patio looked. We got seated and each ordered a sangria, mine red and hers white, which came out quickly and was wonderful! Full of flavor and it was during lunch time so it was only $8. Everybody gets free olive tempenade with bread, which was great, and we shared a garlic mushroom tapa that I really loved. For a lunch entree my mom got the pork sandwich which had great flavor. Not only the pork but the bread too. I got the seared ahi tuna salad which was filling and full of taste! Our drinks came out fast but the food definitly took some time, but it was alright because it felt so peaceful outside on the patio under the overhang in the hot heat drinking our sangria! Pros: good lunch time prices Cons: wait time for food and check more

Bad service, Mediocre Food 7/13/2007

The atmosphere was fine, waiter rude and aloof, the shrimp tapas delicious. Having lived in spain for a while i was disappointed by the flavors and, of course, the prices, i realize this isn't spain. Our server was disinterested, several of our party caught him rolling his eyes while we ordered. To top it off we were asked to leave, none to nicely, as we talked post dinner. The manager actually told us we were holding up another group that had been waiting. Very Rude and unexpected especially given the prices.\r I would not recommend going to this place. Pros: Nice atmosphere, ""cool"" crowd Cons: Service, Food Quality/ Flavor, Elevated Prices more

VERY UNFRESH PLACE 6/4/2007

Mussel tapas & seafood entree smelled stale. I tasted about 5 mussels and everything I had to spew them out, EVERYTHING, and I ran to bathroom and rinsed my mouth. No appology has been heard from chef or manager or waitor. Waitor even made fun of my accent and just said "ok. I will let chef know." After that, only I got was immediate check I had to pay in full. Very unpleasant and disappointed and disgusting experience. If anyone need to have food in this restaurant, please check every food before you put them into your mouth. Don't even try one, otherwise you have to pay in full. Pros: Bad Service, Bad seafood Cons: N/A more
