No stars really. Sending our child here for the young 2?s class was the worst mistake I have ever made. Here are just a few examples why: Pros: null Cons: null

The happiest place! Love it! 5/14/2012

We have two children at Banner ? and each time I walk one of my boys into his classroom, I feel like I am leaving him with the kindest, warmest, most creative and genuine group of moms I know, moms who happen to have degrees in early childhood education. Each morning when we arrive at school (and also when we leave), my children are welcomed by Adell Kabins, the school?s director, who stands at the front door and greets each child by name. This routine does not vary. It?s the same, smiling familiar face every morning, and I have learned that my children rely on and enjoy this familiarity to feel a sense of security about going to school. Once inside, the teachers welcome my children to school, and there is such a sense of joy, happiness and excitement that Banner teachers bring each day. (At first, I wondered if they all did a couple of shots of espresso each morning.) But in all seriousness, they make each child feel like a rock star, as if the day simply could not begin until t more

Excellent preschool 3/23/2012

My family has had a wonderful experience at Banner preschool. I have sent both of my children there, and several of my children?s cousins have attended Banner, too. I have been consistently impressed with Banner?s thoughtful approach to children. Play-based learning is emphasized by an amazingly talented, energetic, and knowledgeable staff. When one of my kids struggled with separation fears those first few weeks of preschool, having never really been away from home without a parent, his teachers and Adell Kabins, the school?s director, were so adept at helping him adjust, so kind and compassionate with him. He thrived at Banner thereafter. I was and continue to be so grateful to the Banner staff for their sensitivity. They consistently demonstrate expert knowledge of child development, sound teaching strategies that prepare kids for kindergarten and beyond, and genuine caring and concern for all kids at the school. There is a strong sense of community at Banner, and I fee more

Wonderful School 3/20/2012

All 3 of my children have attended (or currently attend) Banner Preschool and I have nothing but praise for the staff and the curriculum. We have experienced the Young 2's classroom through Kindergarten Enrichment, Lunch Bunch and Stay and Play. While each program is different, the dedication of the teachers to each individual child is consistent. I am always impressed at parent-teacher conferences with how well the Banner teachers "get" my children. Highly recommend this amazing school. more

Great School! 3/19/2012

My 3 children have gotten an awesome start at Banner preschool. Every program from the Young 2's through Kindergarten Enrichment has been a positive experience. I am constantly impressed by the enthusiasm of the Banner staff. They really make my children feel special and important. This positivie self-worth has been a great asset to my children as they have gone on to succeed in Elementary school. Highly recommend this amazing school. Pros: null Cons: null more

Banner Preschool Wilmette - amazing pre-school! why? read: 3/14/2012

Banner Preschool - safe, secure, nurturing, and educational, just to start! When all is said and done, we will have sent 4 children through 7 years at Banner, and each one has loved their experience! Were there bad days? Of course, isn't that life? But it can't be blamed on the entire school, maybe my child was going through something too? The point is, Banner personnel are always there to talk to you, advise, and help, not to mention the amazing Banner community as a whole! We've met some of our closest friends there beginning with our eldest' class. Pros: null Cons: null more

We love Banner! 3/13/2012

I put 2 boys through Banner Preschool from 2002-2007. We have such great memories of our time there. The Director and the teachers are the reason the program is so stable. They make it look simple. However, I think it takes a strong vision to avoid following the latest fads. more

So glad I went there! 3/13/2012

As a proud Banner alum, I can safely say that I and every single one of my siblings enjoyed the experience, as did dozens of people I ended up going to elementary/middle/high school with--all of whom went on to be engaging, intelligent, and talented individuals. Not only were there tons of stimulating activities and things to play with, but the staff members were also so engaging and genuinely interested in our education that we felt they were extended family. Looking back, there were so many great memories, and I am positive that it laid a strong early education foundation that contributed to both my learning and social skills later in life. Hats off to Adell, who has been nurturing children for over 20 years, and all her staff! more

Sending my Child to Banner was the BEST thing we ever did 3/13/2012

Our child attended Banner Preschool for 2 years. After 1 year at Banner, thinking that our child was not ?traditionally? learning enough, we thought about enrolling our child at a local Montessori School. Adell Kabins, the director of Banner Preschool, sat down & talked with us regarding this matter. Banner school really cared about our child and did not want to disturb the social & learning environment. This was for sure one of the best parent decisions we have made. The 2nd year our child was at Banner, she really blossomed. Our child has made friends that will hopefully be with her for the rest of her school years & life. Our child has learned to believe in herself. This preschool has a philosophy that Play is the Foundation for Learning. We as parents strongly believe this philosophy was helpful for our child. Also, we realized the staff at Banner has each been there for at least 10+ years. Adell has been at Banner for almost 30 years. This is a good sign. The teachers real more

Banner gave my 3 kids a fantastic start 3/10/2012

Now that my three have graduated from Banner, it's hard to put into words how perfect it was for my family. From the minute they were personally greeted each day by director Adell Kabins, my children were wrapped in a nurturing, empowering environment. \r \r I originally made sure about the facilities: stimulating playground, creative learning stations, and even an indoor playground for winter. But I soon discovered that it's the people at Banner who really make it amazing.\r \r From the young two's program, all the way through Kindergarden Enrichment, I felt that the teachers went above and beyond to meet each of my kids at their level- which was never the same! When one of my children did have some issues which raised a red flag, his teachers and Adell helped me through the testing process to get the help he needed.\r \r I was just watching a video of my son's three year old Mother's Day program. He was singing "I love you today" as he signed with his hands. Still brings a tear to my eyes! more

I wish my kids could still go to Banner :-) 3/6/2012

A wonderful beginning to a child's education... 10/6/2011

Our four children (two currently enrolled, two graduated) all have a special place in their hearts for Banner. The director, Adell Kabins, is as knowledgeable as she is kindhearted. Her passion for early childhood education is evident in all that she does. From greeting every child at the door each day, to entertaining them with stories and songs, to providing workshops and enrichment for the teachers (many who have stayed for 10 plus years), to organizing talks and family events for the Banner community. The classrooms are inviting, and the toys and materials are of high quality. The teachers find a wonderful balance between consistency in routine while exploring new avenues of curriculum-building based on the students' ideas and specific interests. Adell and the teachers are always open to discuss concerns, and to share a nice or funny anecdote about your child's day. The compassion, warmth, and creativity at Banner Preschool creates a nurturing and inspiring environment for our children to feel safe, comfortable and confident to learn, grow, and share with others...and for those things we are forever grateful to Banner. more

THE PLACE TO SEND YOUR KIDS FOR PRESCHOOL 10/6/2011

My three kids have attended and graduated from Banner Preschool. They started in the 2 year old program then continued through the 3 year old, 4 year old, and kindergarten classes. There curriculum is full of exploration, creativity, working out social skills, and they have the most amazing array of interactive toys and activities. Plus they have a marvelous outdoor gated playground for good weather AND A HUGE INDOOR PLAY AREA FOR THE WINTER TIME. This is a really important factor in my mind. more

Wonderful place for kids! 7/6/2007

The BEST preschool around. They are so warm and loving with my children. It is such a safe and friendly environment and my daughter is "learning" a ton! Pros: Warm, caring staff, fun activities Cons: None I can think of! more
