Wouldn't Trust Any Other Vet 4/9/2011

The doctors and staff at Banfield Clackamas are the best. They have nursed my Pekingese back to health from two traumatic experiences: ruptured disc in the back and surgery to remove bladder stones. I have the Wellness Plan and it is so comforting to know that I can go in at almost any time and be welcomed. I always feel that my pet is in the best of hands. In fact my pet actually LIKES to go into Banfield Clackamas because he is always welcomed with hugs. I even get a hug sometimes myself :) . more

STAY AWAY FROM BANFIELD, UNLESS YOU HAVE $ TO BURN! 10/26/2010

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET TO BANFIELD ON 82ND! The nurses and doctors are nice, BUT.... I took my cat there this past week and here is what I experienced: I was first given a quote for services in the $900 range for cleaning and stitching an abcess, pulling a tooth and flea/worm meds (which already seemed pretty high compared with other vets we have been too). They told me if I joined their wellness plan it would drastically reduce the costs, which then totaled in the $700 range, but included a year of care on the wellness plan. However, after services were performed and I went to pick up my cat the bill was somehow over $1,000.00???!!!! In shock, I paid and left almost forgetting my cat! I called the next day several times and spoke with the office manager, the hospital manager, and called corporate. No one can really tell me what the difference in the charges are. But they are sending me out a copy so I can figure it out:) At one point, they actually offered to have me bring back the medications for a refund! Now, what kind of animal hospital does that? It seems unethical. When I said no, that the animals NEEDED the medicine, they offered me $100 as a compromise. I'm sorry but $100 is not the same as the difference between the amount I was quoted and then charged. They keep telling me oh, they must of forgot this or that and well, actually you got some services for ""free"" that they forgot to bill you for. This place is a mess. This is not how you do business. I specifically asked that everything to be done and the price of the wellness plan to be included on the invoice before services were rendered. The employee doing so hand-wrote the amount on the top of the invoice. I had faith in her that she was doing it correctly. She claimed I was supposed to stop by the reception to get my total price. I was not told anything different upon check-out. When I called corporate they told me I could cancel the wellness plan within 3 days for a refund, but would have to pay the retail price for services then, which now is over $1500? How does it go from $900 to $1500? Wouldn't you expect a phone call if your bill was going to be more than was expected? How often do you buy something at a store and when you go to pay for it it is 60% more than what it is marked at? Um, NEVER. When your animal is sick you expect someone to do the right thing, not take advantage of you when you are stressed or emotional about the situation. They very easily could have admitted their mistake and refunded me the difference, but refuse to do that now. I was told there was nothing they could really do, but the hospital manager would talk to the doctor and staff about the miscommunication. So, unless you want to pay and extraordinary amount for pet care, DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMALS TO BANFIELD ON 82nd!!!!!!!!!!!! more

Dishonest pricing... 6/4/2010

I called yesterday to get an estimate to have my dog neutered and was told $330. I went over all of the aspects of my dog, weight, breed, age twice to be sure they had properly estimated. I even asked if I could expect it to be no more than $350. When I got to the appointment today, they wanted to charge me $470. How does that happen? I was told that was the price or I could take my dog. I chose to take my dog. I will not be calling ANY Banfield again. more

VERY UNHAPPY 1/30/2010

DONT GO HERE!!! THEY CHARGED ME 600 DOLLARS LITERALLY TO TELL ME MY DOG HAD A COUGH! They will charge you for every litte thing that you dont need! more

Banfield The Pet Hospital? - Clackamas 1/19/2010

I would never use this clinic again. When my dog was very sick they made sure they got their money up front and they kept her overnight. I think they did unnecessary tests just to inflate their bill. It seems they are only in it for the money and not the animal more

Great vet! 11/10/2009

I had adopted a kitten and needed to take her to the vet for shots and such. I chose Banfield based on its convience and was very pleased! I chose to buy there kitten wellness plan which is about 20 bucks a month and covers all her shots and getting fixed and such. Great deal! The only complaint I have is we waited about a half an hour after our apointment because an emergency came in. I can understand that, if it was MY dog that had just been hit by a car I'd want them to work on him/her first before doing some vacines or what not. My problem was the front desk lady didnt mention anything until we asked. 5 stars still though! Pros: great service, friendly staff Cons: we waited awhile..... more

Tired of the bad customer service/love the vet 9/20/2009

I have two Rottweilers. I have always taken them to Banfield on 82nd & Johnson Creek. I love their vet (Dr. Horner) but the receptionist's have nothing to be desired. I paid 500.00 for an X-Ray and they wanted to charge me 25.00 for the actual photo's. My female was deathly ill and rather than send me to a Banfield that had an opening, (I have the wellness plan) they told me to go to Dove Lewis which cost me another 200.00. Their customer service stinks but the Dr. is awesome. I recommend him to everyone. more

A Money Mill 7/21/2009

Long story short: a simple course of antibiotics cured our dog of her diarrhea, but Banfield wanted to do $900 in tests! Beware: these guys will drain you dry! Even though we declined all but a little injected fluids and some Bactrim, we still were out $270! Live and learn... more

Banfield - Where Cash is King 7/21/2009

Brought our pooch in with loose stools. Her history involved drinking some foul dog park water. The tech recommended $900 in tests - stool sample, imaging, lab work...I declined all but a little Subcutanous fluids and a prescription for Bactrim. Long story short: she was on the mend within a few days. And we were still out $270!\r There are two kind of vet clinics in this world: those that fix your pet without breaking the bank and those that pay for their posh grounds, advertising and zippy web site on the backs of their customers.... Run don't walk! Pros: Might be good for the rich... Cons: Suggestive selling of $$$ tests. more

Repeatedly disappointing 6/27/2009

First off, I must say I am a very passive person and do not get upset very often, BUT\r I dislike the vet clinic on 82nd. I seriously hope that employees of this clinic take notice of this review!\r My dog has severe allergies. He was put on a medication regimen by his doggy dermatologist, but after the 100 dollar office visits began to drain my account (being a full-time grad student) and having already spent thousands in a matter of months to diagnose and treat his allergies, I took him to Banfield to maintain his prescriptions, etc.\r \r My beef with Banfield:\r \r --Being that my dog is on steroids, Banfield has a difficult time putting his correct weight into the system during each visit. His weight is an important factor to keep track of since the steroids adversely affect his body. \r \r --I get tired of the 45 minute wait times (INSIDE THE EXAM ROOM before being seen by the vet)\r \r --Being prescribed the WRONG med's for my dog (looking at his medical records and the fact that he is wr more

Horrible experience 5/12/2009

I took my dog in for a brief exam so I could refill a prescription. I was there for over two hours. I spent fewer than 5 minutes actually talking to the vet tech or vet. I waited in the waiting room. I waited in the exam room. I waited in the lobby. I waited outside. I'm new to town and was hoping to find a vet for all my pets but I'll never go back there. I can't say much about the staff because what can you learn in 5 minutes? more

Poor customer service 7/31/2008

It is poor customer service to say, "It's against our policy" as that puts off any customer. It's a common line used to get rid of the customer without wanting to take time to find someone inhouse who may be able to help. Banfield said this upfront when I had just a few questions on minor conditions of my dog and price estimations. How is one supposed to do company comparisons if their policy is to not answer questions? I asked to speak to someone who could actually help me, but was refused. I was pleasant so there was no reason for this poor customer service unless it really is their policy to not be helpful. \r \r Bad policy. ... Ask any well-trained customer service representative. more

a love-hate relationship 9/25/2007

I have a love/hate relationship with Banfield. They are very convenient--much less expensive than Dove Lewis but open on Saturdays and Sundays and later during the day with no appointments, you can get your animal in to see someone (our other vet requires hard-to-get appointments) as long as you are willing to wait. We have used Banfield as our backup vet for a few years now. They are always very caring and I think they've done well by our animals for the most part -- I have, on occasion, felt that they were more concerned about their bottom line than my pet's but that has only happened a few times. We've recently had to euthanize two pets there -- one an out-of-town friend's who received amazing care, the other our own -- my husband (who took our dog) felt very supported and cared for. more

Caring, responsive, comptetent 6/8/2007

These folks have been wonderful at caring for our lab. They are friendly and provide helpful and effective guidance to us newbie dog owners. Thanks you guys! more

Overpriced 3/2/2007

I've dealt with you people in North Attleboro MA and feel that I've been ripped off by your hospital. I had a dying cat and your vets kept us thinking that he was going to be okay when he was suffering from kidney failure. It cost my family a lot of money, $1130.37 to be exact. My family and I suffered the loss of a beautiful cat. But your wonderful clinic gave us false hope, thinking that he would make it when they knew very well that he wouldn't. He was brought in to your clinic on Sept: 14th and suffered because your vet told us that he probably would be okay. But he was put down on Oct. 8th, 2005. Also I was bringing my dog to your vet and they wanted to do all kinds of tests, just to charge me a lot of money, $620.75 for all kinds of misc. things that she most likely doesn't need. I think that you should be ashamed of yourselves. Also I bought heartgard for her and was charged $26.15. Then a month later bought the same dose at another vet clinic and was charged $14.73. more

Purrfect 11/24/2005

I have an exotic pet that most pet hospitals cannot help. When my pet was on her death bed, I rushed her up to Banfield and I was very satisfied with the service they provided me. Although my pet was rare, they knew exactly what to do to help her and nurse her back to help and at a reasonable price. The hours cator to mine, I'm a late person, I can't even get out of the house before 5pm and that gives me plenty of time to run up there and get things taken care of. When I got my pet back, she had on a cute little bandana and made a clinic full of friends. Everybody came out and wanted to meet my pets owner and let me know how sweet she is and how worried they all were. A full clinic cared about my pet, now that's great service. It made me feel special and of course, my little friend as well. This is like a normal hospital, the main lobby is huge and the desk is just like going to a typical emergency clinic. I highly recommend taking your pet here and you can trust him/her wit more

Pet-terific! 6/22/2005

The Banfield pet hospital is truly a sanctuary for the pets. My dog went there to get a tetanus shot two weeks ago and I'm really sastified and happy to have a place that not only serve the pet but also the owner's need and concern. My veterinarian, Dr. Sheil was very friendly and she really tried her best to get my dog to calm down so that she can give him the shot. It was hard to control my dog, he's a little big and he was frightened at the time, but she handled it like a true professional. I'm so glad that i took my pet there. more
