Bandfield is horrible! 3/5/2011

I took my 2 year old dog to Bandfield because he was vomiting the night before. The vet tech seemed more interested in finding out what was wrong with my dog then the vet. The vet tech was asking about the consistency of his bowel and vomit and asked of his behavior has changed. When the vet was done evaluating him instead of telling me she could not find a diagnosis, she starts listing all these meditations, vitamins, IV, blood test, and cell test. I then \r asked her what was wrong with my dog, cold hearted as can be she said she didn't know and that is why she wanted to run all these \r tests and he would need to be hospitalized. I did not feel comfortable leaving him over night to be hospitalized because I felt \r he might have had food poisoning, like us humans. It didn't make \r sense to me to have him hospitalized so I decided to hold off for a \r couple of days. My dog was back to normal the very next day. I felt \r as if the vet wanted to do unnecessary procedures. I also felt the more

Banfield The Pet Hospital? - Scam Artists!!!!! 12/31/2009

Banfield is a scam company. They pressure you to buy their wellness plan - as they do a printout of your pets problems & their cost. They explain that it would be cheaper to buy their plan. They do unnecessary tests & then try to sell you medication, which costs 3 times more than if you went to Walmart. Stay away!!!!!! They pretend to be vets - wearing white jackets - when they have no skills. Find a local independent vet. more

eh... 5/4/2008

I've been here off and on. They're okay generally speaking, but frankly I think it's more of a volume business than a clinic. The vets are a bit overworked especially for their age... and they might just be running out the clock until retirement, if you know what I mean. In hindsight, the care my pets have gotten there was average at best, and disastrous at worst (prescribed off label use of a medication that caused my pet to go critical, they only said stop using it, didn't advise appropriate action, wasted time and pet died a horrible death). Necropsy showed they were at fault. Only good thing I can say is that they said "Sorry". So I haven't been back since and I'm STILL looking for a good regular vet. Come on people, little help here please! more

PLEASE dont take your pets here 8/15/2007

I joined citysearch just to be able to review this. My dog had an emergency, a lump found on her last yr when i was visiting Oxnard. I took her to the Banfield and they told me she probably had cancer and had to have surgery immediately. Distraught, I agreed and signed up for their pet care program. I told them I didnt live there and asked if it was transferrable easily to another location, they said yes which is a complete lie. She had a very expensive surgery, then all they would tell me for results was that she had a benign fatty lump, not much for a possibly fatal anesthesioly for an old dog. I then moved to LA and had to continue driving the 1.5 hrs to Oxnard as there are none near here and I couldnt change the plan without signing up for a whole nother year. Pros: Well lit?? really, none. Cons: Incompetant staff, Wellness plans are horrible scams to take your money. more
