A great Westside spot 10/3/2006

Bandera is a welcome surprise right off the 405. Dark wood and dim lighting create a wonderful ambience as well as a great three piece jazz trio adding just enough music to your dining experience (we sat next to them and never felt the need to yell to be heard). I had a delicious light fish entree while my friend had a fantastic steak. We started off with the three dip appetizer that had been recommended by a friend and it was fantastic as was our oreo cookie dessert. A nice place for dinner, not crazy expensive and well worth the price that you do pay. I would take my parents here when they come visit as a casual- nice dinner and it is a great place for a date. Pros: Delicious food, great bar scene Cons: Crowded, needs reservations even for the middle of the week more

Great Food and Ambience 7/10/2006

Although the bar can be a bit of a meat market with 30 year old professionals and 40+ year old cougars, go here for the food. The cornbread is to die for, the banana cream pie dessert is sinful, and just about every entree is perfection. And now that they take reservations, and with no corkage fee, you can't go wrong. One of my favorites on the Westside. Pros: Great food, dark decor, no corkage Cons: crowded bar, tables by the bar can be loud more

Great Food, Good Ambiance, Bad Attitude! 6/20/2006

Great Food, Good Ambiance, Bad Attitude! Pros: Food, Ambience, Dark Cons: Hostess, Slow Service, TV's more

Keep doing what your doing 1/24/2006

My wife and I make it our romantic night together, for catching up conversations, music and that great artichoke and salmon appetizer. Along with a bottle of chardonnay of course. Pros: secluded booths, soft jazz Cons: other rude guests more

Citysearch's description sums it up 12/11/2005

As a 20something who normally dresses casual, Bandera's is certainly filled with more of a late 30s/early 40s after-work crowd that seemed relaxed in its own way, but seemed too stuffy for my taste. The wait time on a Friday night was about an hour and ten minutes, give or take, but you can order food at the bar while you wait. The cornbread is amazing! I saw the rotisserie chickens and decided to order one. I was not dissapointed! Was a bit loud and I'd certainly come back, albeit dressed nicer. Pros: classy, good food Cons: long wait, bit pricey more

Great Food, Fun Atmosphere 10/23/2005

On my recent visit to Bandera, I had an amazing time. The food was excellent, and the service was prompt and attentive, but never uncomfortable. The live music and crowded bar creates a fun, vibrant atmosphere. I highly recommend giving this place a shot. Reservations are definately helpful. more

Out of this world experience 10/21/2005

Bandera is one restaurant that really knows what hospitality is all about. We started off with cocktails at the bar...a girls night out. The bar staff, as well as our server were extremely attentive and friendly and made great recommendations. We thought the night would take a turn for the worst when a gentleman from the busy bar decided to make casual conversation with us, interrupting our dinner....but one of the managers came to the rescue by approaching the gentleman and telling him that the restaurant did not condone ""joiners"" from the bar at their dining room tables--saving us from having to deal with a bar patron whom we were not interested in speaking with. We were absolutely ""wowed"" by how the manager went out of his way to make our dining experience such a positive one. Needless to say, we're truly looking forward to returning to this great establishment!!!! Pros: Jazz music, Friendly staff, Great Food more

RUDE MANAGEMENT 8/25/2005

After waiting for a table for over and hour and eating full meals within approximately 20 minutes we were told we had to leave if we didn't order more food due to other people waiting. Meanwhile there were two tables within view which were empty. The manager informed us in a very impolite manner that we needed leave to due their company policy. An extremely BAD experience. Do not recommend this place unless the management style is drastically changed. Pros: Good food, Great jazz music Cons: Very poor management, Crowded more

Outstanding! 7/25/2005

A true East-Coast bar/restuarant ...great food...great service...great atmosphere...and the best crowd on the west side. Pros: Food, Service, Atmosphere Cons: Wine List more

Noisy, Crowded, Westside Attitude 5/9/2005

If you're looking for a Westside crowd throwing back drinks and checking each other out, then you've found the right place. The hostesses are among the rudest in the southland. The food is mediocre but, admittedly, the hamburger is exquisite. So, if you're ready for noise and obnoxious fellow customers, then get the burger and a drink and try to tune everything around you out. Good luck. Pros: hamburger, cocktails Cons: hostesses/wait staff, noise, crowd more

Classy 5/8/2005

Bandera is a great place, the lighting is intimate and the decor well thought out. The booths are comfortable and private. If you go, get the beef ribs. Absolutely out of this world and the best I have ever had by a long, long way. It is usually packed solid but the dining area is laid out well enough for that not to be an intrusive problem. The service is good although not exceptional. The bar in the middle is a great place to sip a cocktail and people watch. All in all a great place with great food. Pros: Ribs, Lighting, Ambience Cons: Very busy more

Best Ribs Ever 6/11/2004

Bandera has the best ribs ever. They fall off the bone and are so tasty. The cornbread is delicious. The Artichoke is a must have. I've been here a few times and absolutely LOVE it. Pros: ribs, ribs, ribs more

No corkage fee! 2/18/2004

Please add this restaurant to your low corkage fee list. Bandera mixes a cool jazz club vibe with great food served quickly and doesn't charge a corkage fee. Go for a drink or a full meal, either way the food, service, and ambiance are outstanding! more

consistent 1/29/2004

Get there early, as its packed by 7p. Good drinks and consistently good, hearty food. Also an interesting scene! If you're single its good pickins and if you're not its fun to watch. Pros: food, good music, good crowd more

Worth the wait 11/25/2002

The wait might be long but the strong drinks and the grilled artichoke make up for the hour. There are always people to mingle with and music to enjoy. Bandera is a great place to come for a night out and hardy food at a great price Pros: good value, large portions, high quality Cons: wait, noise level more
