Possibly the Worst Chinese Food in the Valley 10/28/2009

$9.75 Orange Beef - arrived in melted styrofoam box and was unedible. The little bit I did eat was rubbery and sent me into the bathroom for the better part of the night. Fail.\r \r $6.75 Vegetable Fried Rice - the container wasn't melted onto the food with this one, however I never knew fried rice was capable of being bland, as in hospital quality blandness. I have also never actually tasted the oil they use to fry the rice in. Like eating a box of oil pellets. Fail.\r \r $4.25 Fried Wontons - completely undercooked. Threw them in the toaster oven to finish them off and they were really good. Because I had to finish cooking them myself - Fail.\r \r $4.75 Wor Wanton Soup - good soup with the exception of some of the wantons had hard meat in them, indicative of frozen food...for that reason - Fail.\r \r $25.50 total + delivery guy short-changes me + $3 tip = $4 tip due to being short-changed = $29.50 for a bowl of soup and some fried wontons. Epic fail. I will never eat here again...in case you didn't see that coming. Pros: Lightening fast delivery, nice people Cons: Melted styrofoam container; rancid, bland food more

If I wanted frozen food...I would have went to Trader Joe's 11/9/2008

My boyfriend and I are new to the Sherman Oaks area and are looking for a new Chinese food place. I found this place on citysearch and we thought we give it a try. The food did NOT seem as if it was cooked FRESH. Meaning it seemed as if it was frozen food. We got the orange chicken because it was recommended and it was dry and didn?t have much flavor. We also got the Mongolian beef because we LOVE that entree...yet we were again disappointed. It had NO flavor at all! Lastly...we had the dumplings. These again let us down. It was like a chicken/sausage roll in a dumpling. No veggies or anything. I would NOT recommend this place at all. You would be better off going to Panda Express. We are still looking for a great Chinese place. Pros: Service Cons: Food Quality, Parking, Small building more

OMG - Orange chicken that rocks 8/12/2008

Ok so I admit I like some things that aren't ""authentic"" but what the heck - I like them. I have to say hands down Bamboo forest is cheap, fast, delivery is awesome, and the food is good. \r \r We order orange chicken here, along with wontons and some other staple menu items (sweet and pungent chicken, mongolian beef) and we never have had a bad meal. The phone is always answered by someone who I can understand and delivery is ALWAYS super fast. If you're inclined to not like the spicy stuff be sure to tell them and they'll adjust the heat down a notch. \r \r Reliable, fast delivery - only sad because they are closed on Monday! Other than that it's all gravy! Pros: Food, delivery, great ordering Cons: Small location - get it to go! more

Good Chinese Food and great attitudes 7/24/2008

I have been ordering from and eating at Bamboo Forest for several years. I find the food to be fresh and good. The service is usually very quick and the staff very personable. The restaurant is on the small side but a great neighborhood place to go. I highly recommend this restaurant. more

Probably the best whole in the wall place for chinese food. In the Valley. 4/8/2008

They know my name and every time I go there they are always friendly. I read the other reviews and since I usually go at the end of the day I have no problem with parking. Make sure you park in the back. There is a Chevron Gas station next to the plaza and if you park there they will tow your car. Food is more then enough and you will leave satisified. Make sure you ask about the specials. =-) Pros: Delicious. Cons: Small place. So, you can't bring a party of 80 in there. more

Good, friendly and affordable 2/12/2007

It's not the best I've ever had but it's pretty good, affordable and they're very friendly and attentive.\r It's kinda weird that they're not open on Mondays, but I guess they need a day off.\r The place is very small but clean, parking is a pain. The food is very tasty, although I'm not impressed with their dumplings. Pros: Good tasty food affordable and Fast! Cons: parking more
