In September 2007, I decided to replace my roof on a 5,350 square home in Durham. The roof itself is 7,500 square feet of surface area. I wanted to put a premium long-lasting architectural shingle on the house. I knew this was going to be expensive so I did a lot of research to find the best roofer, the best value price and great roofing material. Too often people buy off of price or don't understand exactly the differences in the materials they are getting. I was determined to educate myself so that I made the right decsion. I plan to be in this house for a very long time so this is something I wanted done right. The culmination of my research resulted in me selecting Baker Roofing and Certainteed Independence (50 year shingle). I have been very pleased with that decsion!\r

I only got quotes only from reputable roofers. I didn't want to get risk having some guy in a pickup truck do it for me as a moonlight job. I know exeutives in the local building supply business and asked them for names of who they considered to be the best roofers. Comparing apples to apples, Baker's price was clearly the best. The cost was $16,872. That is $2.25 per square foot for a top grade shingle installed by a great roofing company. This was a huge job. It took 5 days to complete because the roof was so large. On a typical sized house a new roof could in installed in 1-2 days.\r

Both the Baker salesperson and the roofing crew were very professional. They didn't cut corners. They installed the complete Certainteed roofing system with quality underlayments and ridge vents. They were neat and cleaned up after themselves every day. \r
