I bought a black tutu for my 4 year old daughter for $25.00 plus a pair of tap shoes and a pair of ballet shoes. I thought everything there is much more expensive than other dance ware stores or online. But we were there already, it’s near where I work and her first dance class was the next day. My daughter started ballet this past spring and fell in love with it. We heard about backstage and decided to stop in and take a look and WOW, I was surprised at the selection. This is a fairly large store and the selection is awesome. They have very high quality products and I don't think you'll be disappointed with anything that you buy here. The staff was great and offered for me to be signed up on their email list, I've only received one email from them, but I thought it was a great way for them to reach out to their customers. We ended up only getting a bun holder that day(she HAD to have one like the teachers were wearing...lol) but we will definitely be back in to buy more! more

As the mother of 3 girls in dance, I buy a lot of dance items - mainly shoes. I have found that Backstage in Webster is a great place for this. The staff at Backstage is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. They also work with the local dance studios, so they typically know what the studios require. They are very helpful in getting a good fit for my children's shoes. The shoes they carry are good quality. I can pass the shoes down from one child to the next. The cost may initially be more than that of Payless or WalMart dance shoes (but not by much), but the little extra cost is more than made up by the fact that more than one child can wear the shoes. The cheaper shoes often cannot be passed down - especially ballet. They have a punch card that allows you a discount after a certain dollar amount of purchases. We were recommended to this place after Dance Boutique closed. If you are a dancer or if you have a dancer, I highly recommend this place. They have two pointe shoe fitters. The one that helped us was very knowledgeable and efficient. She knew exactly what she was doing. If you have a dancer, you know how important this is. She even knew the history of some of the manufacturers which just gives you a little trivia knowledge which is fun. The store is nicely set up, and the try-on section is set up like a stage complete with actual auditorium seats. Very cute. The only drawback here is that there is no actual dance flood to try the shoes out on. But I was told that this is in the works. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, and they even have a punch card to give you a discount after spending $100, which is all too easy to do. more
