Nice place except for a few issues... 1/23/2011

BAM is a decent place to catch a flick! If not for a few cleanliness issues, I would have given it 4 stars. more

A Sticky Situation 1/17/2011

Popcorn good, movie great, friendly people and then I got stuck to something on the floor. Don't know what it was but it was sticky enough to need to use some minor muscles to remove my foot and, even then, it tried to keep my shoe! more

Great movie theater 3/22/2009

Although not in my favorite location, the theater is very comfortable and the movie selection is excellent. Pros: Great movies, comfortable theater Cons: Atlantic Mall nearby more

Great Theatre 7/31/2008

Great selection of art house and indie films. Nice stadium seating in old-fashion style. Not to mention they screen Sundance films before they are released and they have filmmakers and actors come talk about the filming. more

Dirty Bathrooms 7/20/2008

BAM Rose Cinema has some of the dirtiest bathrooms in Brooklyn -- worse than any other local movie theatre. Innocent victims must be mindful of stepping into nasty things on the way in. On the way out, innocent victims will NOT find hot water, soap, or paper towels. Pros: Good Films Cons: Dirty Bathrooms more

best place to see a film in the city 6/11/2008

BAM is the best place in the city to see a film. The films start on time, you're not subjected to 20 minutes of commercials, interesting and varied films are on offer, the popcorn is good, the building is beautiful, the theaters are modern and the staff does a good job. My only complaint is that there is very little leg room. Pros: movies start on time, no 20 minutes of commercials beforehand Cons: not much leg room more

love tha popcorn! 3/21/2003

Great tasty popcorn at a good price. Love the atmosphere, has good comfy benches in the lobby. Friendly staff. Just wish the ticket prices were lower but what'reyougonnado? Pros: good popcorn, good atmosphere, friendly staff more

Like stepping into the past 9/18/2002

Everytime I come here, I feel like I'm the leading lady in a 1940s film because the decor is so beautiful. Though most of the facilities are old, they are very well maintained and very nice. The movies theatres have beautiful ceilings (and the movies cost less than most theatres), the main concert hall has exceptionally plushy seats and is intricatly beautiful in an early 1900s fashion, and the coffee area upstairs is set in a beautiful modern room with HIGH ceilings. I also have seen that they have some sort of $25-30 deal where you can get dinner and a movie. Definitely a great place to have an evening! more

Best romantic movie theater 7/18/2002

Is stadiem steating and 20 minutes of comercials don't grab you, head to BAM Rose - the staff is freindly, and the theaters are beautiful. more

Design for Viewing 5/14/2002

True to BAM form, this multiplex was designed with care and a sense of aesthetics. Each of the four theaters has comfortable seating, even a touch of elegance. Most impressive is the second floor rear movie theater with its gigantic proscenium arch. The inherent grandeur of that space explains why the folks at BAM often host artist talks here, although I wish they did live performances sometimes too. As for the rest of the space, the concessions stand with its bins of candy is quirky, the staff is genuinely friendly and the bathrooms are always clean. I admit I'm sometimes confounded by the art film calendar but more often than not, the programming intrigues, excites and saves me the trip to Film Forum. As for the first-run features screened, they aren't usually the blockbuster type and for that I'm thankful too. Pros: Classy Cons: Calendar Layout more

More Movies in Brooklyn! 5/8/2002

Kudos to BAM for BAM Rose -- at last, arthouse flicks conveniently in the borough. Great selection of recent arty fare, classics, and special programming, plus the BAM cafe and nearby restaurants make this a perfect spot for mellow evenings you're too lazy to trek into Manhattan. more
