True to BAM form, this multiplex was designed with care and a sense of aesthetics. Each of the four theaters has comfortable seating, even a touch of elegance. Most impressive is the second floor rear movie theater with its gigantic proscenium arch. The inherent grandeur of that space explains why the folks at BAM often host artist talks here, although I wish they did live performances sometimes too. As for the rest of the space, the concessions stand with its bins of candy is quirky, the staff is genuinely friendly and the bathrooms are always clean. I admit I'm sometimes confounded by the art film calendar but more often than not, the programming intrigues, excites and saves me the trip to Film Forum. As for the first-run features screened, they aren't usually the blockbuster type and for that I'm thankful too.
Pros: Classy
Cons: Calendar Layout
