Editorial review from Citysearch 10/10/2012

As I prepare to start a new chapter of my life, in a new location, I think back over the man timer and many ways you've reached out to help me since our first meeting in 1990. \r Our welcome association began when you showed the rental apartment where I've lived in peace and comfort for the past 21 years. I had scarcely finished moving in when I was sidelined by a life-threatening injury that required three month for full recovery. I know you worked closely with my family members during this troubled time to make sure I would still have a place to live when I got back on my feet. That means you have reached out-far beyond the ""call of duty"" almost since Day One.\r Needless to say, the apartment I've called home for more than 2 decades has occasionally required repairs or maintenance. And your hard work, Arlene, your competence and skill as property manager, have made each event almost effortless on my part. I frequently have reason to compare my own positive experiences as your tenant with the exasperation of fellow city-dwellers; their hard feelings are a regular feature of the daily news. There were certainly other available apartments I might have rented, so I've realized all along that it was my good luck to ring the bell at 26 butler place.\r When I began searching for a private house to buy in Brooklyn, you supplied me with a constant feed of available properties. Most recently you referred me to the mortgage originator who has treated me with great deference and cordiality.\r At every turn of our real estate road you've been a savvy, skilled professional. But I am most grateful for your deeply compassionate Human touch. more

Wonderful Realty Office 5/3/2012

I would like to say that this real estate agency goes above and beyond. The sales manger is on top of everything and I had personal dealings with him. He went out of his way to help me. The broker I was dealing with, Angela, was not only very professional but took a personal interest in me. Very unusual in a broker. She worked very hard to get me an apartment and was on top of the situation at all times. I would recommend this agency to anyone looking for property. You cannot go wrong. The Best Group of Realtors and People You could find :O) 7/22/2011

My experience with Awaye Realty has been nothing short of wonderful, terrific and amazing and really makes you know that there are great people in this world that you can trust.\r I am retiring after 25 years with the FDNY and relocating south. The stress and anxiety of selling a house in this market , moving, retiring and relocating to a new state and new job is alot to handle. These folks made it so much easier and let me tell you alittle about them.\r Arlene, the owner, Jim her husband and partner , Joe D , the office manager are simply wonderful people.\r I will start with Arlene. She has been so friendly, so reassuring and worked so hard for me to get my condo sold as well as just be a friend to me. She always took my calls, told me how to stage my space and gave me a hug and told me everything will be ok. That kind of kindness is priceless.\r Jim Snook, her husband and partner has been a stand up guy from the day i met him. Spending countless hours in my place setting things up, doing open houses as well as numerous private showings . In addition always speaking with me on the phone and providing direction as well as reassurance during the whole process. Jm understood where i was coming from and how stressfull my situation was and always listened and took care of things.\r I must mention Joe D,( sorry i cant spell his last name) the office manager, who besides being such a terrific person has such a eye for detail and making sure everything was in place or being taken care of \r . I dont want to leave out their other staff who are all a class act.\r In concluson i would hands down reccommend these people and this Realty Firm to anyone who is looking for both a First Class Realtor as well as a terrific group of people. \r more

ARLENE MAKES EXCELLENT HAPPEN!!! 5/5/2011

To say ARLENE (the owner and property manager at Awaye Realty) is kind and professional is an understatement! She is smart, knowledgeable, dedicated, and truly cares about the most positive outcome for all parties involved! A few months ago, my landlord handed over the building I live in to Awaye Realty for property management. I was behind in my rent (and also coming out of a divorce and months of being handicapped). Rather than evict me, ARLENE negotiated with the landlord and helped come up with a payment plan that could both pay off the arrears I owed and that would help me get back on my feet financially. ARLENE was completely in my corner and really fought to help me have a ""2nd chance."" My life has been turning around and most importantly, my daughter and I have our home as our foundation (the home we have lived in for 6 years) to keep building this new chapter of our lives. I consider myself very lucky to have met ARLENE and that her company Awaye Realty is managing my building. Everyone there is so friendly and professional. ARLENE had the hallway in my building immediately cleaned up (after a long time of neglect) and she is having my ceiling re-painted and fixing some of the electrical in the apartment. By fixing up my apartment, she is helping me breathe ""new life"" into my home. ARLENE is truly an inspiration and a phenomenal business person. She is fair, approaches her work with ""the human"" touch, and she TRULY makes excellent happen! Thanks Arlene!! more

Loryanna DiMaio - Responsive & Flexible 3/30/2011

My husband and I recently rented an apartment through Loryanna DiMaio. Ms. DiMaio was able to get us in to see the apartment we were interested within a few hours of our first call. She worked with the landlord on lease riders we needed (and got that worked out painlessly) and coordinated with the current tenants about leaving baby gates in place. After we had already provided the check, we asked if we might return to the apartment to take measurements so that we could order some furniture. Not only was she able to arrange it, when we asked if we could go in earlier than we had agreed she was able to arrange that as well. We haven't yet moved in and finished everything up, but very good experience so far. more

Mangement with a Human Touch 11/9/2010

As I prepare to start a new chapter of my life in a new location, I think back over the many times and many ways THAT Arlene Waye has reached out to help me since our first meeting in 1990.\r Our welcome association began when Ms. Waye showed me the rental apartment where I’ve lived in peace and comfort for the past 21 years. Angela saved my life! 6/22/2010

I dealt with a lot of realtors over several months trying to find a place in Brooklyn. Don't make the same mistake I did. In the end, I ended up working with Angela, who turned out to be the only realtor that I talked to worth the name. She got me a place the same day another apartment fell through, at a reduced price. The apartment is awesome and I couldn't have asked for more. Highly recommended. Pros: Went out of her way to help me out and got me a great place more

Sold mom's house 11/11/2009

When my mom died, Arlene was recommended by a friend of hers. Arlene had sold her $MM home. I know a number of Park Slope realtors and was going to use one of them. Arlene made an excellent and competitive presentation and was selected. She remained professional, committed and dedicated. In the post-2009 market crash, she did numerous open houses, advertising, follow ups, negotiations, etc. She returned phone calls and emails almost 24/7. Even if I wanted to, which I don't, I can't say a bad word about Arlene. Rather, let me say three good words: excellent, dedicated, and successful. Pros: Committed; Dedicated; Successful more

Great Service 8/18/2009

Clearly if I would have read some of the reviews on this site, I would be having second thoughts in renting my apt. through this realty. However my experience with them has so far been excellent. I dealt with Loryanna DiMaio, she has been very helpful and professional. I am very picky and if it wasn't for Loryanna or Awaye Realty, I would still have been looking for an apt. I would recommend Loryanna Dimaio and Awaye Realty to anyone looking for apts. in Brooklyn. Pros: Professional and prompt Response more

First Time Buyer 8/5/2009

I just closed on my first New York City apt - I dealt with Arlene at Awaye Realty - she was very helpful and answered all the questions I had in a timely matter. She was easy to get in touch with and when I called her office the other agents there were also receptive and always passed my messages along. I would recommend Awaye to anyone looking to buy/rent in New York City. Pros: Easy to contact, always put client first more

True dedication 7/24/2009

Awaye realty/property management has always done a fabulous job for me and for anyone i sent to them. I never saw such dedication, both in the property management area and in sales and rentals. Never had a problem with calls not being returned, they seem to be on top of things consistently, and i have dealt with them many times. Perhaps the problem is that the boss is a woman, and a strong woman seen differently than if it were a man. Pros: tireless effort for clients more

False reviews 7/23/2009

My Opinion : these are rip-offs,con-artists that call themselves real estate agents who scammed me out of application fees, credit fees and deposit fees..after my experience with this office I decided to look the agents up in a public license search and found the agent I dealt with had NO LICENSE. How do these people get away with running a business this way? Now they are sitting here making false reviews to create a 'well liked office'. I HAVE DEALT with LOTS of Real Estate offices in the Downtown Bklyn area. When I mention my experience with Awaye Realty it seems as if this office already ha a bad reputation. Everyone should beware & research prior to using this office. Pros: Nothing Cons: Everything you can imagine more

MOST PROFESSIONAL REALTOR IN BROOKLYN 7/22/2009

I had my brownstone on the market for 6 months with another well-known realtor and had not gotten one serios offer. Once I gave the listing to Arlene, of Awaye Realty she had an offer within a week. She was easy to work with, led me thru the selling process and advised me of the best way to show my home. she took care of all the details leading up to the open house and made sure the house was always neat and in good working order. any incidentals that occured before closing she was personally involved in to resolve. I have recommended her to my family and friends who were looking to sell or buy a home and they all had the same positive experience with her and her staff. Pros: very focused on achieving the end result for her clients Cons: there are no cons more

Oh so grateful 7/19/2009

I was in a real bind when my marriage ended (another story) - I needed to find an apartment fast that would accommodate my very specific needs. It needed to be the right price and and I needed to move immediately. Awaye was the only realtor I contacted that showed genuine concern for my situation. They listened and they 'heard' me and identified several properties that suited my parameters on the very first day. Once I chose, they worked with the landlord and credit agency and sped the process through the channels - I could not have hoped for a better experience! Thanks! Pros: Fast and caring Cons: can't think of any more

Outstanding local business - 7/17/2009

I've dealt with Awaye Realty (Arlene) several times over the past few years and have always been impressed by her professionalism and dedication - she lives and breathes her business and it shows. Best in the area: and I like that you can talk to the boss, unlike the big corporate machines. @CLA100 readers - Reviews by disgruntled ex-employees should be taken for what they are: pot-shots by people that want to damage other people. And you know what they say about 'mean people.' Pros: Great service - can talk to the boss more

Awaye Realty Inside 6/28/2009

bkcliff, you're not the only person treated unfairly by Awaye Realty; I was an employee there and was decieved time after time. The whole office is an illegal practice. That office needs to be shut down. The broker rips off agents and customers on a regular basis, they are full of misrepresentations. Pros: Rip offs Cons: Rip offs more

Awaye Realty - Dishonesty and Dysfunction 5/13/2009

Please avoid using this company at all costs. My experience with them from start to finish has been a lesson in handling unprofessional people. My first (and most significant) complaint is that my first agent at Awaye illegally misrepresented my offer to the owner/landlord of the building. It is the agent’s legal responsibility to accurately represent all offers made by both potential tenant and landlord. By making an offer to the landlord that was not the offer I presented, the entire negotiation process was compromised. Further, they then presented an offer from the landlord that I later found out was never on the table. The negotiation process became so convoluted; I had to go out of my way to contact the owner personally to make sure I wasn’t a victim of fraud. Having finally settled on a deal (directly negotiated between myself and the landlord), the agents at Awaye were incredibly difficult. Several e-mails and calls were always required to get in touch with them. My second agent (I told Arlene I refused to continue working with the first) would routinely answer questions with clearly uninformed answers and later have to retract. I was twice promised that the keys would be dropped off in my mailbox and twice I came home to no keys, no note, no call and no e-mail. My frustration with all of this simply elicited further spiteful neglect. To cap it all off, when I went to pick up the keys the morning the lease started, they had misplaced them; causing significant inconvenience to me and the landlord. It seems (from various other reviews) that I am not the first person to have a bad experience with this agency. Considering their apparent lack of respect for the laws governing their industry (let alone basic customer service), I am amazed that they remain in business. With the exception of the largest agencies, New York real estate agents are generally shady. Given their inability to perform the simplest tasks, Awaye Realty definitely wins the overall incompetence award. Pros: absolutely none Cons: read below more
