Avondale Preschool

My son has been going to Ms Mia's school from the start. He started off as a 3 year old with major separation anxiety, and now is a self reliant 5 year old making great progress academically. The small class size is wonderful, and the new teacher Ms. Cathy Jo is a great addition to the school more

This is a wonderful school with a dream ratio (2 teachers 9 students) that translates into lots of individual attention and a thriving little four year old boy (my son!) who thanks to his preschool has a favorite planet, a favorite art movement (cubism!), is reading all sort of words, just yesterday demonstrated with a ball and flashlight why it is dark in South Africa when it is light in Seattle, and during India month said "namaste Mommy" when I picked him up. He has also greeted me in Swedish, Australian (good day mommy!), Japanese, Spanish, and on and on. I can't believe how lucky we are to be able to send our son to a school that he loves, where he learns more than we ever thought possible, and where I have full confidence in the teachers who in turn have full confidence in my son. more

My 2 year old son has attended Avondale Preschool full time since Jan/Feb 2009 and not only do I love the care he receives, but he does as well. Mia partners with me about his care and needs and is genuinely connected to what he is interested in learning. It is a Montessori based preschool with many interactive learning activities that teach counting, ABC’s and they even learn Spanish! My 2 year old son comes home counting from 1-10 and singing the ABC song! They go outside at least twice a day, which he loves, but also go on field trips on Fridays to local museums, parks and attractions. I’ve attended these field trips and they are so much fun! My son is very active and a typical boy – she deals with conflicts really well between the kids and uses limits in a very effective way. I can’t recommend Avondale Preschool enough. more

Teacher Mia really cares for her students. She has a great curriculum. Only after two weeks our son puts his plate/cups in their place, and sings the cleanup song after dinner. more
