Sorry, Avon Inn. I would love to say that you are beautiful and well-preserved, but I can't. I was thrilled by the excellent dinner! On Friday night my husband and I enjoyed scrumptious Shrimp Alexander (on a bed of greens dripping in olive oil and garlic) and a fish fry worth returning for any day, but the night in the rooms above quickly erased my happy feelings!\r \r The problem is that most travelers today are well aquainted to excellent accommodations at reasonable rates. Although the bed was pretty, it was hard, hard hard. The A/C needs definite updating. There was evidence of burn marks in it! The bathtub needs the caulking to be stripped and set right more

One of the best in the area 1/13/2009

My wife and I went to the Avon Inn two weeks ago and were simply wowed! First, the service was exceptional. The server catered to us perfectly without being ""overbearing"". Second, the food was great. I had a strip steak, which was cooked perfect, and was tender and juicy. My wife had the shrimp wellington,and we were surprised to see how huge the shrimp were. The food was priced great for what you get. With our meal there was a unlimited salad bar with rolls and muffins. We were very please with our whole evening and will definitely be back a lot more. Always Listen to your Mom! 12/17/2002

I haven't dined at the Avon Inn since 1995. Recalling a conversation I recently had with my mother, I remembered her mentioning the Avon Inn. She and my father had eaten there about a year ago so I asked, how was it? She replied that it was less than favorable, according to her the service was slow, and my father's steak was very tough. Not believing her, my wife and I went to the Avon Inn on Saturday. Sure enough, my steak was very tough and I had to wait a long, long time for my drink. It was also very cold in the resturant. So the moral of the story, always listen to Mom! more
