Zero stars. I was charged for insurance and roadside service which is an extra charge. The woman at the desk ask if I wanted these extra services, I said no, in turn she told me to intial on the invoice. What she did not tell we that she was having me intial to 'agree' to pay for the fees not 'decline' the fees. She knew I was on military orders so she figured AVIS could get extra money (federal money) and no one will get harmed. The service was crap and on top of that these people are ripping off the tax payers!!!!!! Do not use AVIS they are a bunch of crooks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! more

Crap service and crap cars 4/27/2009

I am a big fan of Avis everywhere I go, but I wouldn't recommend it in San Diego. Took me 30 min to get to the rental building because Avis seems to run less number of buses from the terminal pick up. They won't stop once they leave the bay, so make sure you catch one. My reservation specifically picked a car, but when we get there, they said sorry we don't have that car. They Chev HHR. They wouldn't offer free upgrade to large class. HHR is pieace of crap, a coffin on wheels - literally. Windows are small, and controls are messed up. The doors were scratched up and interior were dirty. Remote control didn't work. Go to Hertz or Enterprise if you are in San Diego. more
