After a long day at work I often find my self fantasizing about the Punjabi Enchiladas. This small family run restaurant delivers consistently delicious home cooked Indian/Mexican fusion that satisfy my tastes buds and hunger. Prices are fair and service is always good. If you like Indian and Mexican food you will dig this place. more

Whenever we are anywhere near the Sausalito area we stop at Avatar's for lunch. The food is fresh, beautifully presented, creative and flavorful. Avatar's features an interesting blend of exotic East Indian flavors and Mexican style, using organic and free range products.\r \r This place, located in an industrial park, has little ambiance, but you cannot beat the food. The best quality and most creative dishes are served with pride for a reasonable price. Yesterday we stopped and were treated to lamb and sweet potato enchiladas with home made yogurt and tamarind sauce. We have been going to Avatar's almost weekly for many years, and we always enjoy the delicious and unique dishes and the friendly service. It's a very special place, one of the few that offers to accommodate special dietary requirements (vegetarian, no-oil, no-carb, etc.) Ashok and his sister, Kala, are generous and thoughtful hosts who make every visit pleasant. Avatar's is consistently the best restaurant anywhere for Indian food without the heavy use of butter and creams. In fact, for good heart-warming food, it ranks as the best restaurant I've ever been to. The service is outstanding, unless, as one reviewer noted, you come at the peak of dinner hour. But hey, it's all good, just chill out and Ashok will get to you. It's well worth a couple minute wait. more

I am quite surprised that Avatar's has NOT received more press than it has. Food Network, open your eyes, this has to be the best cuisine in Northern California, if not all of California. I do not want to insult their food by trying to describe it. All I can say is that ALL types of food lovers, vegetarians to carnivores, Atkins followers to Ornish followers, will absolutely love this place. Avatars restaurant is an absolute gem!! I am not one to try new things but came to Avatars with a co-worker who could not stop talking about this place. I must say that I have never had better food in my entire life. The fusions of cultures exemplified by the taste at Avatars is simply astounding and a real treat. From the food to the friendly service, I truely felt the warmth of the loving family atmosphere. It goes without saying that I have become a regular at Avatars, I am simply addicted to the food, and the people at Avatars always know just what I want. I would recommend Avatars to anyone who enjoys great food and great people!! more

One of the most unique and appealing resturants you will ever find anywhere. This is the sort of place you treasure as a personal favorite. Many, many regulars frequent this place and Bay Area diners don't do that unless a place is really special. This one is! Your most jaded world traveling friends will find new experiences here.
