New to the area from NYC, I chose this salon based on the reviews on this site. However, my hair was BUTCHERED!!! I was in such shock, but managed to communicate that I was dissatisfied, and the owner gave me an ATTITUDE instead of apologizing. AND they had the nerve to charge me. I wish I had done some more research. Whatever you do, DO NOT GO TO THIS SALON! Unless you want a crappy unflattering cheap looking hair cut and a dose of nastiness. The first thing I noticed was how welcome everyone made me feel from the minute I walked in. But I can't say enough about Christine, my stylist. i have never found someone who can cut my hair. i like it short but its really curly and no one can ever make it look ""cool""....except for christine at avante. each time she cuts it she puts a new lil twist on it to make it more fun and funky but still feminine. she does a great job and i wont go anywhere else! shes got a amazing talent...check her out! It was awesome! Kelly is a very talented stylist, she knows the latest trends and is on point. Kelly also gave me my first set of highlights. She showed me pics of all the hottest in Hollywood and what trends they were sporting. Honestly my hair looked better than Beyonce when she finished. Looks SO natural, I constanlty get complimetns on the look. I'm really not crazy about taking time to tell strangers what I think about anything, but its such a relief as a ""thirty-something"" year old woman to know that I can finally stop searching for MY VERY OWN HAIR STYLIST!!! After struggling to find a person to layer and color my hair exactly the way I want it, I was overwhelmed with joy at the finished product of my haircut with Kelly at Avante. Looking back I can't believe I ever went anywhere else. Kelly had all the new hair coloring and cutting trends. I would recommend this salon to anybody. Christine Gagnon does a great job on my hair always. This is the only place I have ever gone where they actually massage your scalp while washing your hair. Chrisitne spends quality time on my hair and it always looks great. Pros: Great environment more

Kayla does terrific cuts using the razor method. My hair falls very nicely with the cut. She spends time evaluating before she starts. Pros: best cut ever, price more

I would recommend Avante to anyone who cares about the health and look of their hair. I have always had a pleasant experience at this salon. My stylist Carrie is a very talented woman. I have been a very loyal and long time client of this salon and can tell you that after living in NYC for twenty years this salon puts Frederick Fekai to shame. When I moved to this area a friend told me about this salon and after my first trip, I knew I found not only a group of highly trained hair experts but also a dear group of friends. The staff is warm, friendly and most importantly talented and professional. I would like to comment about my wedding experience with the salon. I and my wedding party of 11 had our hair, makeup and nails done on Saturday, Oct 6, 2007 at Avante and without this salon and staff my wedding would not have been the same. When we arrived the owner prepared a table of breakfast goodies along with champagne, coffee, tea and juice. She also took the time to decorate the enire table in my wedding colors. I was shocked that she and the staff took so much time to prepare this special day for me and that brought me to tears. The day went on so smoothly that I was to be married at 5:00 and at 4:00 I was sitting in the Salon laughing and enjoying myself and looking incredible along with my entire wedding party. In fact, several of my friends have now gone there for hair color and cuts and also their weddings and have had the same experience. I have been going to this salon for years and I always leave feeling great about my cut. The staff and owner are always friendly, listen to what I want and make me look great every time. All the staff seem like genuinely nice people who like their work and strive to do the best for their customers. I always recommend this place to everyone I know. I never write poor reviews. Ever. Not worth my time. But my experience with Avante Salon was so awful that I felt the need to warn others out there to stay far away. Not only did the salon cancel my hair appointment less than 48 hours before my wedding day (which was scheduled months in advance with a 50% deposit) but the owner left me a nasty voicemail message to cancel the appointment and wrote a derogatory remark on my deposit refund slip, which left me in tears. The day before my wedding I am being insulted by a hair salon owner. I never knew that poor customer service also included blunt insults to your customers as well. I wouldn't trust this salon with my hair at all, let alone for a special event....so girls - if you're a bride or have something special coming up - don't depend on these guys. Stay far away! I received excellent color on my shoulder length hair from Carrie. I do agree about the over booking though...but, they must be in demand. I didn't feel too rushed really...as they do offer beverages and have great magazines and ambiance. I felt comfortable and happy. The hair came out just the way I wanted it and I felt like the communication, once settled in, was established. I will return. I've been to Avante on 6 different occasions and I've enjoyed my experiences there. One of the more recent additions, Kayla, has been my stylist since my first visit, and I have not left disappointed. I've been to Avante several times for a cut and highlights. There have been 2 different times where my ""blonde"" highlights turned out yellow. Also, do not go to Carrie if you need a cut. She butchered my layers. They were so uneven when I was looking at my hair after I got home. I decided to go elsewhere to have them fixed. That was the last and final time. I am very picky when it comes to my hair but Carrie at Avante always does an amazing job. I love the salon's atmosphere and love all of the workers there. The location was perfect for me when I was home but now that I am away at school it is very far away from me but I wouldn't go anywhere else. Carrie never fails to please me with my hair and I love the advice they give when you are not sure about what you want.
