Warranty Repairs - Get them done 9/11/2013

We bought our Hyundai Sonata new at Hyundai of Tempe. We've had problems with our electric door locks for literally years. When ever we took the car to Hyundai of Tempe and asked them to check the door locks they could never find what was wrong. Now the warranty is up and they've identified the problem and are ready to fix it. I think some type of assistance could have been provided by the dealership consider that the problem has been ongoing and documented at the dealership. Instead they simply said "sorry", there is nothing we can do. I give Hyudai of Tempe three starts because the majority of the time they provide good service. more

Frustrated with Genesis 9/2/2013

The folks at Autonation Hyundai were courteous, friendly, etc. My problem is that we go to leave the lot and the brake lights don't work. So obviously the walk around inspection didn't happen. We had a steering column auto adjust problem worked on but it still does not work right. I guess I am disappointed in a lack of thoroughness. We have had this car in several times to various dealers and it still has the same nagging issues with the steering column, gas tank venting, and auto headlights coming on at the wrong times. more

the last service I remain unconvinced that the oil was actually changed. I have it changed every 3-4K miles, and the oil on the dipstick was dirty/sooty this last time (after they supposedly changed it) I complained but they said it was fresh oil. I will try somewhere else and compare how it looks right after the change. Double-check if you go here. Mark your filter with a marker too, and compare the oil color/clarity before and after. I can not recommend them anymore. NOTE: I've owned/service over 50 cars in my lifetime (so far) so I KNOW what I'm talking about. more

2011 Sonata SE 2.0T 8/5/2013

Driving down the freeway my sunroof exploded for no apparent reason. They said they had seen this before caused by the frame warping. The service manager said he could tell nothing had hit it to cause it. At first they were very responsive and replaced my glass and said to bring the car back so they could vacuum they rest of the glass out and take care of the paint. At one point I was told it would be ready in a couple of days (3 weeks after I dropped it off). Well long story but 30 days later I got my car back with an explanation that Hyundai Corporate had denied the warranty work. I had to file a complaint even to get them to return my call/e-mails at one point after 10 days of hearing nothing from them After they were called by Hyundai Consumer Affairs they final returned my call to tell me there was nothing more they could do and suggested I take my car back and file an insurance claim. This is after they had my car for 30 days. I'm still waiting for the Regional Consumer Affairs department in Fontana, CA to make their decision, but they've had my case now for over a week and I'm not surprised I haven't heard from them either. What's the point of having "America's best warranty" if they won't honor it. Fortunately for myself and my family we were not injured by their defective product. I wish they would see it that way and cover the cost to repair the paint the sunroof glass caused to my car. By the way, the paid over $650 for me to drive around in a rental from Enterprise when they could have allocated that money towards fixing my car instead of leaving it for 30 days while nothing was being done. more

On buying my Genesis Coupe, dealer was helpful in finding it during very-low-supply period, and surprisingly, I received no pressure from the salesman. First 2 standard services went fine. Very satisfied with this dealer so far. more
